UNKNOWN OR OTHER

The backup camera on our Ram is currently inverted. I am not sure if it is available for inspection. It makes it hard to see what is behind us when backing up. We received a notice about a recall concerning this issue but I do not see it mentioned on your website when looking up the vehicle. No warnings prior to it messing up. This has been a problem since we received the vehicle.

SERVICE BRAKES

The rear parking brake pivot point gets stuck in the on position. After some research, this is VERY common on these vans and is going to cause wrecks or deaths. The pivot point where the parking brake connects to the rear parking brake linkage rusts and gets stuck VERY easily. My van only has 60,000 miles on it. There is no sensor in this pivot point, so when you release the parking brake, it seems like it is off—but it is not. No indication no warning.. Tire spun and van drove fine until the breaks failed. 100 miles down the road, my rear calipers were glowing red, which caused my rear parking brake to catastrophically fail, causing the rear tire to seize and almost leading to a wreck. Luckily, I had plenty of water on board to put out the rotor fire.

ENGINE

The oil pan for the van was damaged due to debris picked up on the road resulting in a hole, which in turn drained the engine oil and jammed the engine preventing from operation. The lack of protection to the oil pan which is exposed, caused the debris to damage the oil pan. Ford Transit vans have a protection under the oil pan which prevents such incidents to occur. The vehicle was repaired for $10,172 by budget as this was a rental van. Attached are the documents pertaining to this repair. Installing some sort of protection beneath the oil pan would have saved several thousands of dollars. This is the third occurance in our fleet and other two VINs have been reported already to NHTSA.

STEERING

Power steering failure. Luckily for us, the failure happened while still in our driveway, so no accident or collision occurred. We had warning messages for ESC, hill start assist, and several other systems, but nothing for EPS (electric power steering). The dealership was able to repair the problem by replacing the steering rack and two associated wiring harnesses. The mechanic noted water and a lot of corrosion in the wiring connector on the steering rack. This vehicle has only had normal water exposure (rain and puddles on the road).

POWER TRAIN

Transmission oil leak on my 2019 Dodge Promaster 3500 van - please see attached: pdf 1 Safety Recall 61A info, pdf 2 for Bud Clary recall work done, pdf 3 for when leak 1st seen at Tacoma Dodge, and pdfs 4&5 for fix at Tacoma Dodge On [XXX], odometer 39,764 mi, Safety Recall 61A done (debris in the transmission may prevent the park pawl from fully engaging, which could cause the vehicle to roll away. ) by Bud Clary Dodge, 2925 Auburn Way N., Auburn, WA 98002 (253) 833-2485 On [XXX], odometer 49,672 miles, at engine oil change, transmission oil leak noted by Tacoma Dodge, 4101 S. Tacoma Way, Tacoma, WA 98409 (253) 475-7300 On [XXX], odometer 51,582 Tacoma Dodge verified transmission oil leak, transmission service done to replace oil and reseal leaking pan. A test drive showed additional leak at upper transmission pan and that was resealed and passed 2nd test drive showing no leaks. I was charged $256.70 for a "transmission service", normally part of scheduled maintenance at 60,000 miles, and not associated with leaks. I believe I should not be charged for this since the leakage was seen after only (about) 10,000 miles after the transmission serviced for the recall. There are known issues with the RTV sealant used leaking if not not installed correctly. I am also concerned if the Safety Recall 61A was implemented properly. Not clear how to verify that. STEERING

The electronic power steering has failed on my 2022 Ram Promaster with 38,000 miles. While driving the steering wheel began jerking violently and couldn't be controlled. It seemed like there was a legitimate chance of the vehicle rolling over on the highway. The issue was reproduced and confirmed by a Ram Dealer in my area. The dealer stated "verified customer complaint intermittent lack of power steering assist at times. found I264A inline connection under vehicle full of water / mud with corrosion no connector repair kits available to fix any of this harness replacement with rack is required". There were no warnings lamps or any notification of an issue prior to or even while the issue occurred.

The oil pan for the van was damaged due to debris pick up on the road resulting in a hole, which in turn drained the engine oil and jammed the engine preventing from operation. The lack of protection to the oil pan which is exposed, caused the debris to damage the oil pan. Ford Transit vans have a protection under the oil pan which prevents these type of incidents to happen. This vehicle was taken to the repair shop and they want $18527.10 to fix this problem. A small fix of few hundred should have solved the problem, if the manufacturer had the trouble to think through the design phase.
