WHEELS

V06 Recall was attempted, but welding could not be done correctly - was told that was the "best they could do" truck continued to steer poorly (constantly have to hold the steering wheel to one side or the truck will veer out of the lane) bc steer ahead wrong, and to wear outer edge of the tires to an unsafe level in less than half the normal mileage. Now Dodge dealership/Stellantis claims the drag link assembly was permanently damaged by their prior recall work, and that truck cannot be aligned or driven safely but also won't fix it. They have been telling me they will action the case "today" or "one businesses day" since 27 Aug. I found out that the alignment and steering problem I had been spending money to fix since 2019 was a result of their poor recall repair and trying to get a response from Dodge Stellantis since AUG 06, and I have been without the use of the truck and unable to care for my horses since then. I have spent more than 14 hours directly on the phone with them without any action - my truck remains essentially impounded at the dealership. Est 20k miles at initial recall V06 failed repair attempt but their records should say. Current document is currently dealership that admitted the initial recall repair attempt damaged the draglink assembly beyond any hope of salvage/alignment.

FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL

The contact owns a 2020 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle made an abnormal ticking sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with high-pressure fuel pump failure, but the vehicle was not repaired at the time. The contact stated that upon pulling into a parking lot, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the high-pressure fuel pump had imploded, causing damage to the fuel system. The dealer related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V880000 (Fuel System, Diesel), and the vehicle was repaired; however, the contact later became aware that the dealer had replaced the high-pressure fuel pump with the same part. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be serviced, the mechanic informed the contact that the high-pressure fuel pump installed on the vehicle was not the recall part, but the same defective part. The mechanic recorded the high-pressure fuel pump and part number, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was confirmed that the recall part had not been installed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The contact stated that the dealer delayed performing the recall repair free of charge, which required the contact to pay for the replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump with the correct part. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer failed to complete the recall repair free of charge. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

I have experienced two major issues. The dash cluster went blank. Not able to see any of the gauges. Vehicle ran, drove. Turned the truck on and off. Opening & closing the door to power off the truck. 15+/- minutes for the dash to return to normal. Supposedly an update to the program is pending. Second and major issue; while backing up, the truck came to a stop by itself, blocking an intersection. I was not able to place the truck in any gear. Warning light notified me that the truck was not in park. We were unable to push the truck out of the intersection. The dealer says when the "Wheel Speed Sensor" failed the truck is programed to be immobilized. I have recently returned from a trip to the Rockies pulling a 35 foot 5th wheel RV. I have traveled several mountain roads. One 12 mile stretch with a 8% grade. Had the wheel sensors failed on any of these roads the chance of and accident were great. Potentially deadly. This is a known issue. Ram has decided to use the newly redesigned parts for production of new vehicles. No parts are available or estimated ship date. My truck has been towed to Capitol Ram of Garner, NC and will sit until Ram decides to provide parts. Part numbers: 68646345AA Left & 68646344AA Right

TIRES

I purchased a dodge 3500 truck on October 16th 2024. My truck as of today has 4900 miles on it. It is a one ton dually. I noticed this week two of the rear outside tires have cracks and defective tread. I took it to a tire shop and they confirmed these tires are bad. I tow a 40 foot fifth wheel trailer. If I had had a blowout it could of been a huge problem for myself and those on the road around me. I spoke to the dealership I bought the truck from and they informed me they would have to see the tires and file a report with the manufacture of the tires. I had to buy all 6 new tires because I didn't want to chance a blow out with my trailer on the truck. I googled Nexen tires LT235/80R17 which are my tires. It says these are not rated for a 1 ton dually truck. When used on a dually it says its not the best choice for a 1 ton especially when towing heavy loads. The reason I bought this truck was for the purpose of towing my RV. I made that clear to the sales man at the dealership when I bought this truck. I assumed these tires were rated for this truck. If it's a defect I should be reimbursed from the manufacture for all 6 tires. If it's the dealers fault they should reimburse me. This is definitely a road hazard, a accident waiting to happen.
