2025 RAM 3500 Complaints and Recall Information
The 2025 RAM 3500 has 4 complaints and 2 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners frequently report issues with multiple warning lights activating simultaneously including ABS and traction control. Problems with gear selection and immobilization were also noted, sometimes requiring battery disconnection and fuel pump fuse removal to shut off the truck.
Common Issues
- Warning lights activation. Multiple warning lights like ABS and traction control illuminate without clear cause.
- Gear selector malfunction. Gear display flashes or does not recognize gear position, such as failing to detect when in park or drive.
- Vehicle immobilization. The truck may stop moving unexpectedly and cannot be shifted into any gear, immobilizing it in traffic intersections.
- Dash cluster failure. Dash cluster goes blank temporarily, making all gauges unreadable for about 15 minutes before returning to normal.
- Shutdown difficulty. Vehicle cannot be turned off by normal means, requiring battery disconnection and fuel pump fuse removal.
- Wheel speed sensor failure. Failure of left or right wheel speed sensors causes the truck to immobilize for safety reasons with no parts currently available for repair.
There are 2 recalls addressing electrical and powertrain systems, particularly related to the instrument cluster and gear selection display. Both recalls involve the same software defect and affect 778 vehicles, aiming to correct inaccurate gear position indications which increase crash risk.
Recalls
- Instrument cluster software. Recall 25V297000 affects 778 vehicles from May 8, 2025. A software error in the 3.5-inch cluster can cause incorrect gear selection display, misleading drivers and increasing crash risk. Dealers will update the cluster software free of charge.
- Gear position indication. Recall 25V297000 also covers powertrain automatic transmission gear position display for the same 778 vehicles. The inaccurate display fails to comply with safety standards. Software updates will correct the defect without a "Do Not Drive" or park outside advisory.
Owners facing repeated repairs or unresolved safety defects, especially involving immobilization or dash cluster issues, may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Legal consultation could clarify possible remedies related to these systemic defects and recall concerns.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:GEAR POSITION INDICATION (PRNDL)
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 vehicles equipped with a 3.5" cluster and column shifter. A software error may cause the gear selection display to be inaccurate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, "Control and Displays."
Risk: An inaccurate gear selection display may mislead the driver as to what gear is actually selected, leading to unexpected vehicle movement and increasing the risk of a crash.

I have experienced two major issues. The dash cluster went blank. Not able to see any of the gauges. Vehicle ran, drove. Turned the truck on and off. Opening & closing the door to power off the truck. 15+/- minutes for the dash to return to normal. Supposedly an update to the program is pending. Second and major issue; while backing up, the truck came to a stop by itself, blocking an intersection. I was not able to place the truck in any gear. Warning light notified me that the truck was not in park. We were unable to push the truck out of the intersection. The dealer says when the "Wheel Speed Sensor" failed the truck is programed to be immobilized. I have recently returned from a trip to the Rockies pulling a 35 foot 5th wheel RV. I have traveled several mountain roads. One 12 mile stretch with a 8% grade. Had the wheel sensors failed on any of these roads the chance of and accident were great. Potentially deadly. This is a known issue. Ram has decided to use the newly redesigned parts for production of new vehicles. No parts are available or estimated ship date. My truck has been towed to Capitol Ram of Garner, NC and will sit until Ram decides to provide parts. Part numbers: 68646345AA Left & 68646344AA Right

Ton of warning lights can on like abs, traction control and some other sensors. When put in Drive the D flashed and try k would not move. Put back in park would not recognize it was in park and would not shut off. The only way to shut off the truck with disconnect both batteries and pull the fuse for the fuel pump.
