The 2023 RAM 3500 has 0 complaints and 8 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to vehicle safety systems and powertrain components. The recalls primarily address defects in airbags, steering, transmission, lighting, rearview displays, and electrical components.
There are eight recalls affecting several key systems including airbags, steering control module, transmission, exterior lighting, rearview camera display, and electrical wiring. These recalls involve potential risks such as failure of driver airbags to deploy, malfunctioning turn signals and high beams, transmission fluid leaks causing loss of drive power, rearview camera failures, and engine compartment fire hazards. Repairs are offered free of charge through dealer inspections, replacements, or software updates.
- Air bag defect. Recall 24V199000 affects 38,164 vehicles with improperly welded steering column control modules that may prevent driver air bag deployment, increasing injury risk. Dealers will inspect and replace the module if needed.
- Steering control module malfunction. Recall 23V799000 covers 185,251 vehicles where the steering column module may cause high beams or turn signals to activate incorrectly and the self-canceling function to fail, raising crash risk. Dealers will update software and replace the module as necessary.
- Transmission fluid leak. Recall 24V413000 affects 214 vehicles with insufficient welds in transmission control units allowing fluid leaks on electrical parts, possibly causing loss of drive power or parking function, heightening crash risk. Dealers will replace the valve body and control unit.
- Rearview display failure. Recall 23V654000 includes 272,911 vehicles where radio software may block the rearview camera image, reducing rear visibility and increasing crash risk. Dealers will perform a radio software update.
- Electrical short risk. Recall 23V060000 impacts 302,067 vehicles with heater grid relay wiring faults that can cause engine compartment fires even with ignition off. Owners are advised to park outside until repairs are done. Dealers will replace the relay at no charge.
Owners facing unresolved recall repairs or repeated safety-related defects may want to review their rights under state lemon law statutes for potential remedies.
