PARKING BRAKE

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is recalling certain 2016 Outlander and Outlander Sport vehicles. The rust prevention coating on the rear brake operating shafts could have been peeled off during the assembly process. As a result, water entering the rear brake caliper boot may cause the parking brake operating shafts to corrode and possibly bind.

Risk: An unrestrained occupant has an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

There is a glitch in the electrical system. I have been replacing headlights constantly since I have purchased this vehicle in 2019. Last night was the final straw as both headlights went out at the same time. When I am stationary, you can watch the headlights surge when the vehicle is running. I have also had issues with the info center resetting for no reason during these glitches. No headlights at night is DANGEROUS!!!!

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

UNKNOWN. I am buying this vehicle and it does the following: after shutting it off while in gear, it shuts off before its all the way into park. The next several starts include these problems: the drivers and media screens are out of synchronization and come up slow and even blank. They go out and I have had this vehicle even have everything go out, all lights ,ac, etc yet it stayed running. When I told the dealer, he said there was no problem so I took it to another one that wanted to replace it with another one and a different loan holder. Why, my loan is good and current. I am a very frustrated buyer and I demanded it back when I realized that the pre-sales inspection form was not completed. This started at a stoplight.

POWER TRAIN

After an afternoon driving in the rain most of the previous day my vehicle started to produce a clunking noise from the rear and front of the vehicle. I was able to stop at my mechanic near by and have them check the problem. My mechanic was able to diagnose the issue as a rear end differential coupler issue and said a bulletin had been posted about the issue. He was unable to work on the problem due to the specific equipment needed for the vehicle. I was able to call the closest dealership where they confirmed this was an issue they have been seeing more of this problem lately. So much so they had stocked that part and run out of that part. As I turned out into traffic I could have easily caused someone to rear end my vehicle due to the lack of engagement from the drive-train. Had I been on a busy road this would have caused an accident. The problem was reproduced and confirmed by my local mechanic in Shepherd, Michigan at 1st Street Auto. The vehicle is currently located at a Showcase Mitsubishi in Bay City, Michigan scheduled for repair on Tuesday September 9th where the part will be replaced. No warning lamps, messages were displayed. No other symptoms occurred before this incident.

SUSPENSION

Clunking/Rattling noise coming from passenger rear of vehicle when hitting bumps and rear of vehicle swaying/swerving. Can hear noise while shaking the car side to side while parked. Only 35000 miles. Rear suspension of vehicle seems soft. Took to the dealer rear was misaligned didn't find any other problems. Continue to have the problem swaying/swerving is still there but not as bad. This could possibly cause driver to loose control.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

The hood vibrates. It looks as if the hood is popped, but not actually unlatched. I had the update done on my backup camera, and now it's starting to glitch with lines that go across the whole screen. It reminds me of regular Nintendo in the '90s glitching out. And having to restart the whole system.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

My vehicle shut off on a state route when I had the vehicle towed to the dealership I was informed it was the ecu. I found out a year after my vehicle was purchased, there was a technical service bulletin out in this part. I am not sure why there was not a recall sent when they knew this part could be defective and my life was put at risk by it shutting off on the highway. How is a vehicle safe when it just shuts off. This should have been a recall and not a bulletin. Please reconsider making this a recall. I would hate to see people lose their lives because of this.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

The contact owns a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds in stop-and-go traffic, the vehicle ahead unexpectedly came to a complete stop. The contact was able to stop in time to avoid a crash. Afterward, the contact became concerned because the Forward Collision Avoidance system failed to activate. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact was informed that the system was reset. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000.

SEATS

The power electric drive seat becomes loose with time. Very dangerous while braking cause the drive seat moves forward fast, driver feels disoriented to extent feeling unstable and could lead to not appropriately having control over vehicle during brake events. This could lead to hitting front vehicle.
