Recalls
  • Liftgate gas springs. (NHTSA Recall 25V507000) About 121,529 vehicles are affected by corrosion in the liftgate gas spring cylinders. The corrosion can cause the cylinders to lose pressure, rupture, or the liftgate to fall unexpectedly, increasing injury risk. The fix involves replacing both left and right liftgate gas springs free of charge. Owner notification starts October 6, 2025.
  • Second-row center seat belt buckle. (NHTSA Recall 20V403000) This recall affects approximately 177,000 vehicles. The center seat belt buckle may interfere with the right-side buckle when seats are folded, causing the right buckle cover to detach and the buckle to become inoperable, which increases injury risk in a crash. Dealers will modify the buckle cover, add warning labels, and update the owner’s manual at no cost. Recall began September 1, 2020.
  • Parking brake caliper corrosion. (NHTSA Recall 18V070000) About 170,354 vehicles are impacted by water ingress into rear brake calipers, leading to corrosion and binding of the parking brake actuator shaft. This may prevent proper engagement or disengagement of the parking brake, causing unintended vehicle movement on slopes and raising crash risk. Dealers will inspect and replace brake components as necessary free of charge. Recall began March 27, 2018.

Owners dealing with repeated repairs, safety defects, or unresolved recall issues on the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a consumer protection attorney could help clarify those rights.
