STRUCTURE:BODY
International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2020-2026 IC Bus CESB and 2021 RESB school buses. The underfloor reinforcement may not have been installed, compromising the structural integrity of the buses. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages" and 222, "School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection."
Risk: Reduced structural integrity may increase the risk of injury in a crash.
2025 IC BUS CESB
7 vehicles affected
EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY:WHEELCHAIR LIFT/RAMP
International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2025-2026 IC Bus CESB school buses. The parking brake can be released when the wheelchair platform lift is deployed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 403, "Platform Lift Systems."
Risk: A bus that moves while the platform lift is in operation increases the risk of injury.
2025 IC BUS CESB
964 vehicles affected
SEAT BELTS:CRITICAL FASTENERS
International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2025-2026 IC CESB and 2025 EVSB school buses. The driver's seat belt anchor bolt may come loose.
Risk: A loose seat belt may not properly restrain the driver in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
2022 IC BUS CESB
16553 vehicles affected
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FLUID
International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2016-2024 IC Bus CESB school buses. The brake pressure switch assembly may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch's electrical components and cause an electrical short-circuit.
Risk: An electrical short in the brake pressure switch can overheat the circuit and increase the risk of a fire while driving or parked.
2024 IC BUS CESB
3230 vehicles affected
PARKING BRAKE
International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2024-2026 IC Bus CESB and 2025 EVSB school buses. The tension spring may corrode and break, disengaging the barking brake.
Risk: A parking brake that is not engaged as expected when the driver releases the brakes may allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of crash.
2026 IC BUS CESB
6988 vehicles affected
EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS
International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2025-2026 IC Bus CESB school buses equipped with halogen headlights. When the high beams are activated, the low beams turn off. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Risk: Headlight low beam failure can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
2025 IC BUS CESB
91 vehicles affected
PARKING BRAKE
Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2024-2025 IC Bus CE SBUS school buses equipped with Intellipark Park Valve Modules (PVM). The rubber ball seal in the PVM may fracture and cause a leak, which can result in park brake failure or unexpected park brake engagement while driving.
Risk: Park brake failure or unexpected park brake engagement while driving increases the risk of a crash.
2025 IC BUS CESB
319 vehicles affected
EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS
Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2024-2025 IC Bus CE school buses. The brake lights, in certain conditions, may not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed, due to a software error. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, "Air Brake Systems."
Risk: Brake lights that fail to illuminate can reduce the visibility of the bus or fail to indicate to other drivers that the bus is slowing down, increasing the risk of a crash.
2025 IC BUS CESB
30 vehicles affected
STEERING:LINKAGES:TIE ROD ASSEMBLY
Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2025 IC Bus CE school buses. Tie rod assemblies may contain ball studs that may have been incorrectly heat-treated, which can cause them to break, and possibly result in tie rod failure.
Risk: Tie rod failure can cause a loss of vehicle steering control and increase the risk of a crash.
2025 IC BUS CESB
1216 vehicles affected
SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:DISC:CALIPER
Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2024-2025 IC Bus EVSB and 2024-2025 CESB school buses. The brake caliper mounting bolts may not have been properly tightened, allowing the brake caliper to detach from the anchor plate.
Risk: A detached brake caliper can cause a loss of braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.

2022 IC BUS CESB
ID: 2122517ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2022 IC BUS CESB. The contact works as the district mechanic for the Chase County Schools District. The contact stated that while driving the bus on a rural road, the alarm buzzer sensor on the emergency exit windows activated independently. Due to the rough conditions, the buzzer alarm activated. The windows were not loosened; however, the alarm sounded to indicate a failure. The contact had experienced the failure with the 5 school buses he oversaw. The contact stated that the alarm sound prevented the driver from safely operating the vehicle. The contact was able to recreate the failure by jumping up and down outside of the bus. The contact inspected the buzzer alarm; however, the cause of the failure was not found. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
2023 IC BUS CESB
ID: 2093113STRUCTURE:BODY
The roof leaks in several areas. The water gets on the floor and seats increasing the chance that children will slip and fall on the wet floors and seats. This has been to the dealer more than once but the roofs still leak. We have more than one bus of the same age that leak
2022 IC BUS CESB
ID: 2091752ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM
This is a school bus. Exhaust down pipe from exhaust manifold melted down and created a large hole for fumes and potential fire from excessive heat/fuel issue in engine.

2022 IC BUS CESB
ID: 2090067ENGINE
School Bus- Engine exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold has melted from excessive heat in the system creating large hole for fumes and potential fire to escape. Exhaust is inadequate for the heat levels from the engine or engine performance is misprogrammed to create excessive heat/fuel. Widespread issue with many school buses in our fleet with the same powertrain.
2021 IC BUS CESB
ID: 2080465FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
School buses. We have a fleet of these and the condition is happening repeatedly and to almost every bus with this PSI brand 8.8L gasoline engine. The engine exhaust downpipes melt from excessive heat and/or fuel. The pipes then crack and produce an exhaust leak near the body firewall. Potential for exhaust and flame to escape from the pipe.
