Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Tucson and Santa Fe vehicles. The connecting rod bolts in the engine may have been improperly tightened, which can cause a loss of drive power and engine damage, possibly resulting in an oil leak.

Risk: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash. An oil leak in the presence of hot engine components can increase the risk of an engine compartment fire.

STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2024 Tucson and Santa Cruz vehicles. The circuit board in the motor-driven power steering assembly may short circuit, resulting in a loss of power steering assist.

Risk: A loss of power steering assist can increase the risk of a crash.

EQUIPMENT:OTHER:LABELS

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2025 Tucson vehicles. The glove box air bag warning label may be missing. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Risk: Without the glove box label, operators may be unaware of the increased risks that an air bag poses to an infant or child in the front seat, increasing the risk of injury to occupants.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2025 Tucson and Santa Cruz vehicles. The console extension wiring assembly may be routed improperly, allowing the transmission to be shifted out of Park without applying the brake pedal.

Risk: A transmission that can shift out of Park without applying the brake pedal can result in a vehicle roll away, increasing the risk of a crash.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:FLUID/LUBRICANT:PUMP

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Palisade Tucson, 2023 Sonata, Elantra, and Kona vehicles. The electronic controller for the Idle Stop & Go oil pump assembly may contain damaged electrical components that can cause the pump controller to overheat.

Risk: An electric oil pump assembly that overheats increases the risk of a vehicle fire.

EQUIPMENT:OTHER:LABELS

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2024 Tucson vehicles. The tire and loading information label may incorrectly indicate information about a spare tire. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

Risk: A label that incorrectly states spare tire pressure when there is no spare tire on-board may cause confusion during an emergency tire replacement, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2022 Tucson and 2022-2023 Santa Cruz vehicles. The roof moldings may detach.

Risk: A detached roof molding could become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2015 Elantra, Genesis Coupe, Sonata Hybrid, 2012-2015 Accent, Azera, Veloster, 2013-2015 Elantra Coupe, Santa Fe, 2014-2015 Equus, 2010-2012 Veracruz, 2010-2013 Tucson, 2015 Tucson Fuel Cell, and 2013 Santa Fe Sport vehicles. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Santa Fe, 2017-2018 Santa Fe Sport, 2019 Santa Fe XL, and 2014-2015 Tucson vehicles. The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module could malfunction and cause an electrical short, which could result in an engine compartment fire.

Risk: An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.

The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed while merging onto a highway, but the vehicle lost forward momentum. The contact stated that the message "Limited to 20 MPH" was displayed on the instrument cluster. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the engine was not revving. The contact pulled off the highway and into a parking lot. The contact turned the vehicle off and on, and normal driving was resumed. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent and was occurring while accelerating. Additionally, the contact stated that upon starting the vehicle in the morning, the vehicle would jump forward while still in park (P). Additionally, the contact stated that the horn had stopped functioning after the last loss of forward momentum but had returned to normal function a few days later. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. STRUCTURE:BODY

The back passenger door will not open from inside or outside. The front passenger door will not open from outside or inside. The warranty will not cover this as they are saying it it wear and tear. Hyundai has confirmed they know there is an issue with the doors but refuse a recall to fix this.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

I was driving the vehicle at 30 MPH when the power to the instrument cluster, infotainment center and headlights went out for approximately 1-2 seconds before recovering. Engine maintained power and acceleration during this period. During blackout I was unable to view speedometer nor other instrument information.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I went to fill up the gas and the gas cap door would not open. The gas station attendant tried to help with no luck. I drove to the dealer - the fuel release actuator had failed. Part was replaced under warranty. I am lucky I had enough gas to get to the dealer. Very scary when you can’t put gas in your car!
