Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2024 Freightliner M2 and 114SD vehicles equipped with Cummins L9N engines. The rear lifting bracket that attaches to the engine cylinder head may be insufficiently secured, which can allow it to detach.

Risk: A rear lifting bracket that detaches while the engine is being lifted can result in the engine falling or swinging, increasing the risk of injury.

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Freightliner 108SD, 114SD, 122SD, Columbia, Coronado, Business Class M2, and 2020 Freightliner Cascadia vehicles. The drag link taper joint may not have been tightened sufficiently and could come loose, resulting in a complete separation of the drag link from the steering arm.

Risk: Drag link separation can cause a complete loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

The windshield wiper linkages may break, causing the windshield wipers to fail.

Risk: When shifted into PARK, the transmission will actually be in NEUTRAL, increasing the risk of a vehicle rollaway and crash.

The all-in-one rear LED lights may be too bright, exceeding the maximum light output allowed which may adversely affect the vision of drivers. As such, this vehicle fails to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

(Mickey Truck) is recalling certain 2017 Freightliner M2, M2-106, International 4300, and 2018 Peterbilt 220 vehicles equipped with certain model lift gates that contain a license plate kit with part number 298872-01. The light kit does not properly illuminate the license plate, shining rearward, instead of downward as intended.

Risk: The improper lighting may confuse other drivers on the road, increasing the risk of a crash.

A-1 Auto Electric (A-1) is recalling certain 2015 Freightliner Refuse vehicles modified to be powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). The CNG system has tanks with a one-turn for controlling CNG flow. If the valve knob is turned more than one turn, the valve's snap ring may fail and the valve stem may forcibly eject from the valve body. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 304, "Compressed Natural gas Fuel Container Integrity."

Risk: If the knob is overtightened, the valve retaining snap ring may fail and eject from the valve body, increasing the risk to injury to any person in it's path. Additionally, the unintended release of CNG can increase the risk of a fire.

The contact owns a 2021 Freightliner XC Line Motorhome. The contact stated that the ICU on the coach had delaminated over time and made it difficult to read. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the ICU panel was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 17,800.

The contact owns a 2021 Freightliner M2. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and slightly depressing the accelerator pedal, the pedal travelled down to the floorboard and was stuck, causing the vehicle to accelerate unintendedly. The contact depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact shifted to neutral(N), pulled over to the side of the road, and turned off the vehicle. The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated as needed temporarily. The contact stated that the failure had caused him to pull over to the side of the road several times in one drive. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring intermittently. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, the failure recurred, and the vehicle accelerated unintendedly to 70 MPH. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The dealer test-drove the vehicle and informed the contact that the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

The contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2017 Freightliner M2. The contact stated while driving 15 MPH, the vehicle lost automotive power and slammed into gear. The vehicle returned to normal functionality and the contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The message "Range Motion Detected" was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact continued driving slowly. An independent mechanic went to the workplace to diagnose the vehicle. The contact was informed that the retaining clip had failed, causing the hose to pop out and transmission fluid to leak. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The contact stated the vehicle failed to shift into reverse(R) or drive(D). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle remained at the workplace and had not been driven since the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
