2021 BMW M3 Complaints and Recall Information
The 2021 BMW M3 has 2 complaints and 6 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners frequently report a loud clunking and creaking noise from the front suspension when driving on uneven or bumpy road surfaces.
- Front suspension noise. Loud clunking and creaking sounds occur while driving over uneven or rough roads, suggesting potential suspension component issues.
There are six recalls that address various safety-related components including seat belts and braking systems. These recalls cover defects affecting occupant restraint and braking performance.
- Seat belt buckle assembly. (Recall 21V298000) Twelve vehicles affected. The bolt securing the front seat belt assembly to the frame was not tightened to specification, potentially causing restraint failure and increased injury risk. BMW dealers will inspect and replace the assembly if necessary free of charge.
- Integrated brake system. (Recall 21V062000) Eight hundred ninety-three vehicles affected. Improper welding of the rotor and shaft within the brake system could cause separation during hard braking, leading to loss of ABS and braking assistance, increasing crash risk. Dealers will replace the brake system at no cost.
- Seat belt automatic locking retractor. (Recall 21V554000) Twenty-one thousand five hundred thirty-seven vehicles affected. The passenger seat belt’s locking mechanism may deactivate prematurely, failing to comply with safety standards and increasing injury risk during a crash. Dealers will inspect and replace faulty retractors free of charge.
Owners coping with repeated suspension noise problems, safety defects, or unresolved recall remedies may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a qualified attorney can provide guidance on potential remedies.
