The 2010 BMW M3 has 0 complaints and 6 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues connected to the recalls rather than independent complaints.
There are six recalls affecting different systems in the 2010 BMW M3. These recalls involve electrical system wiring and connectors as well as frontal driver air bag inflators, both of which pose safety risks and require dealer repairs.
- Electrical system wiring. Recall 17V676000 affects over 700,000 vehicles including the 2010 M3. Wiring and connectors for the heating and air conditioning air flow control system may overheat, posing a fire risk even when the vehicle is unattended. Dealers will replace the wiring and connectors free of charge.
- Battery cable connection. Recall 19V472000 affects 16,641 vehicles including the 2010 M3. The positive battery cable connection at the fuse box terminal may degrade, causing intermittent loss of electrical power which can cause the vehicle to stall and increase crash risk. BMW will replace and secure the cable connectors at no cost.
- Driver air bag inflator (PSAN). Recall 20V017000 covers 59,965 vehicles equipped with non-desiccated driver frontal air bag inflators containing phase stabilized ammonium nitrate. These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation, risking serious injury or death. BMW will replace the driver air bag or inflator free of charge.
- Driver air bag inflator (general). Recall 16V071000 affects approximately 840,000 BMW vehicles including the 2010 M3. Upon air bag deployment, the inflator may rupture causing metal fragments to strike occupants, potentially resulting in injury or death. Dealers will replace the air bag module or inflator at no charge.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs, safety defects, or unresolved recall issues with the 2010 BMW M3 may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a qualified attorney or consumer protection expert is recommended for those facing these problems.
