2008 BMW M3 Complaints and Recall Information
The 2008 BMW M3 has 0 complaints and 6 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to recall repairs rather than defects reported through complaints.
There are six recalls involving various systems on the 2008 BMW M3. The recalls affect the electrical system components and the driver-side air bag inflator module. The issues mainly concern electrical power interruptions and potential air bag malfunctions that carry safety risks.
Recalls- Battery cable connection. Recall 19V472000 affects 16,641 vehicles including the 2008 M3. The positive battery cable connection at the fuse box terminal may degrade, causing intermittent loss of electrical power. This could result in stalling and increase crash risk. Dealers will replace and secure the connector free of charge.
- Driver air bag inflator (PSAN). Recall 20V017000 covers 59,965 vehicles including the 2008 M3. The driver frontal air bag inflator containing phase stabilized ammonium nitrate may explode due to propellant degradation from exposure to humidity and heat. Fragments could cause serious injury or death. BMW will replace the driver air bag or inflator free of charge.
- Air flow system wiring. Recall 17V676000 applies to 702,965 vehicles including the M3 built between 2006 and 2011. The wiring and electrical connectors controlling the heating and air conditioning airflow may overheat and melt, increasing fire risk even when the vehicle is unattended. Dealers will replace the wiring and connectors free of charge.
- Driver air bag inflator rupture risk. Recall 16V071000 affects approximately 840,000 vehicles including the 2008 M3. The driver’s frontal air bag inflator may rupture upon deployment, sending metal fragments toward occupants. Dealers will replace the module or inflator free of charge.
Owners with repeated repairs or unresolved issues related to recalls or safety defects may have rights under their state’s lemon law. They should consider consulting legal resources to determine their options.
