Recalls- Brake fluid level indicator defect. NHTSA recall 13V512000 affects 2016 vehicles. The brake fluid level indicator may fail to warn drivers of low fluid, risking reduced braking force and longer stopping distances. Dealers will replace the fluid level indicator switch free of charge. Owners can contact Navistar at 1-800-448-7825.
- Brake fluid detection failure. NHTSA recall 13V054000 involves 3226 vehicles. Similar to 13V512000, the brake fluid level indicator may not detect low fluid, increasing crash risk. Repairs include replacing the fluid level indicator switch at no cost with notice sent beginning April 26, 2013.
- Master cylinder brake defect. Listed under recall 13V054000, it also addresses hydraulic brake foundation components. The issue involves failure to warn about low brake fluid, leading to potential braking force loss. Navistar notifies owners and conducts free repairs.
- Exhaust system weld failure. Recall 14V574000 covers 6481 vehicles. The weld attaching the right exhaust down pipe to the manifold may crack, allowing hot exhaust gases into the engine compartment, raising fire risk. Dealers will install support brackets, catalyst spacer bars, and replace cracked pipes at no charge. This recall started November 17, 2014.
- Repeated brake system warnings. Both recall 13V512000 and 13V054000 cover overlapping issues with hydraulic brakes and associated components. Multiple recall notices reflect the ongoing need to address brake fluid detection failures to maintain safe braking performance.
Owners of the 2012 WORKHORSE W62 facing unresolved brake or exhaust recalls or repeated repairs due to safety defects may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Those encountering these issues are encouraged to review their legal options for protection and remedies.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM
Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Workhorse W62 Commercial Chassis manufactured June 21, 2010, to October 2, 2012. In the affected vehicles, the weld joining the right hand side exhaust down pipe to the exhaust manifold may fatigue.
Risk: A failure of the weld may allow hot exhaust gases to enter the engine compartment, increasing the risk of a fire.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:MASTER CYLINDER
Navistar is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Workhorse Custom Chassis W42 and W62 vehicles, manufactured from July 18, 2011, through July 12, 2012, and equipped with hydraulic brakes. The brake fluid level indicator (FLI) may not properly detect a low brake fluid level situation and warn the driver.
Risk: Without a warning, the driver may be unaware that the brake fluid level is low. A low brake fluid level may reduce the available braking force which could lengthen the required stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash.
