2020 WINNEBAGO VIEW Complaints and Recall Information

The 2020 WINNEBAGO VIEW has 2 complaints and 11 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues with the coach door hinge strut coming loose, allowing wind and rain to penetrate inside. Repairs have not fully resolved the problem and concerns remain about door security and potential hazards while driving.

Common Issues

  • Coach door hinge failure. The hinge strut loosens during use, causing the door to rattle and lose its seal, which allows wind and rain to enter the coach.
  • Seal malfunction. The door seal fails to provide a tight closure, leading to potential water intrusion and compromised door integrity.
  • Unresolved repairs. Attempts to fix the door issues have been only partially successful, with some repair facilities suggesting slamming the door to achieve a seal.

The 2020 WINNEBAGO VIEW has 11 recalls affecting various systems including door assembly, airbag wiring, LP fuel line routing, awning operation, and labeling. These recalls address safety defects that could cause hazards during transit or increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Recalls

  • Retractable awning extension. (NHTSA 23V694000) 6,237 vehicles recalled for unintended awning extension during transit, increasing crash risk. Dealers will install a parking brake interlock module and update firmware at no cost.
  • Supplemental restraint system wiring. (NHTSA 24V318000) 15,572 vehicles recalled due to SRS wires getting caught in seat mechanisms, which may prevent airbag deployment. Dealers will inspect and reroute wiring free of charge.
  • Door window adhesion. (NHTSA 24V824000) 5,313 vehicles recalled for incorrect window bonding on Lippert Metallarte door assemblies, risking window detachment during transit. Dealers will install clips to secure windows at no cost.
  • Incorrect hitch label. (NHTSA 23V637000) 5,369 vehicles recalled because of wrong hitch labels that can cause vehicle overloading and loss of control. Dealers will replace labels free of charge.
  • Retractable awning extension. (NHTSA 22V695000) 5,084 vehicles recalled for the same awning defect as recall 23V694000. Dealers install a power switch and relay. This recall is superseded by recall 23V694000.
  • LP fuel line routing. (NHTSA 22V795000) 4,616 vehicles recalled due to LP fuel line routed near rear wheel risking damage and gas leaks, which could cause fire. Dealers will secure the line with cable ties free of charge.

Owners facing repeated repairs or unresolved safety defects with the 2020 WINNEBAGO VIEW should consider their rights under state lemon laws. These laws may provide relief for persistent issues affecting vehicle safety or use.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Coach door hinge (strut) came loose on a trip from OH to main in 2023. (Wind and rain was penetrating into the coach). We feared that the door would completely blow open. We called a roadside repairman who tightened it but could not repair the strut or make the seal tight. Once returned to Ohio we took it to have it repaired- some adjustments were made however the door continues to loosen with use. Seal and strut were not working as they should. However, due to job transfer, we had to drive the RV across country from CA to OH in 2024. Due to health issues the RV has been in storage until a month ago. We then took our RV to Mesa RV in Davis, CA-Their suggested solution is that we slam the door to get a seal. We still have an ongoing concern that this may be a hazard if the door comes off while driving, as using it causes the door to rattle and loosen more. This same door also had a window recall which is not related. We feel like we are out of options.
