Recalls
- Tire valve extension. (NHTSA 25V499000) Affects 655 vehicles. Inner tire valve extensions may contact outer wheels causing inner tires to lose air and overload outer tires, risking tire failure and crashes. Dealers inspect and replace valve extensions as needed.
- Air bag wiring. (NHTSA 25V478000) Applies to 2,119 vehicles. Supplemental Restraint System wires can get caught in seat mechanisms, preventing air bags from deploying and increasing injury risk. Dealers will inspect and re-route wiring free of charge.
- Electrical system wiring. (NHTSA 25V478000) Also part of the air bag wiring recall affecting 2,119 vehicles, repairs involve inspecting and re-routing wiring to prevent damage and air bag failure.
- Solar panel over-current protection. (NHTSA 24V541000) Affects 2,193 vehicles. Solar charging system lacks sufficient over-current protection allowing circuits to overheat and fuses to melt, increasing fire risk. Dealers replace solar controller fuses and components free.
- Recreational vehicle electrical equipment. (NHTSA 24V541000) Shares details with the solar panel recall, covering the same 2,193 vehicles and fixes by fuse and component replacement to address fire risks.
- Air conditioner soft start device. (NHTSA 24V662000) Involves 840 vehicles. Certain GE air conditioners have soft start devices that can fail and overheat, creating fire hazards. Dealers replace the soft start module at no charge.
- Supplemental Restraint System wiring. (NHTSA 24V318000) Applies to 15,572 vehicles including the EKKO. Wiring may be damaged by seat mechanisms, risking air bag non-deployment. Dealers inspect and re-route wiring for free.
- Electrical system wiring. (NHTSA 24V318000) Same affected vehicles as above; the fix includes inspection and re-routing of wiring to ensure air bag functionality.
- Spare tire wheel bolts. (NHTSA 24V890000) Affects 632 vehicles. Spare tire wheel bolts may be missing, leading to potential detachment and crashes. Winnebago mails replacement bolts and wrench free to owners.
Owners facing repeated repairs related to alternator fires, air bag defects, or other serious safety issues including multiple recalls may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a qualified attorney could help evaluate potential claims based on unresolved or persistent defects.

ID: 2073591ENGINE
In October 2024 our Rv was brought to the dealership due to the RV making a high pitch noise while driving. The dealership concluded that it was the Balmar alternator that needed to be replaced. March 2025 the Solar recall was completed as well as the alternator replaced. After a 30minute drive smoke was coming from underneath the hood and the alternator caught on fire. Luckily nobody was hurt and the fire was contained only because we were on alert due to so many other Ekko owners having the same problem!
