2010 VOLVO VHD Complaints and Recall Information

The 2010 VOLVO VHD has 0 complaints and 6 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to various vehicle components covered by recalls. Complaints have not been submitted directly by owners for this specific model year.

There are six recalls affecting this model involving multiple systems including labeling, seat belts, clutch assembly, exterior lighting, and suspension components. These recalls address safety and compliance defects that could increase the risk of crashes or injuries.

  • Certification label error. Recall 10V492000 affects 1,926 vehicles due to incorrect tire description labels that could lead to vehicle overloading and increase crash risk. Dealers will replace labels free of charge.
  • Seat belt weld defect. Recall 12V510000 involves 1,496 trucks with potentially insufficient welds on seat belt d-rings which may fail during a crash, increasing occupant injury risk. The defective d-ring is replaced at no cost.
  • Clutch disengagement switch missing. Recall 13V268000 impacts 23,056 vehicles missing a redundant clutch disengagement switch. Loss of signal may prevent clutch disengagement during braking, lengthening stopping distance and increasing crash risk. Repairs involve inspection and necessary fixes.
  • Snow plow lighting software flaw. Recall 18V766000 covers 4,625 trucks where snow plow headlights can operate without marker lights, decreasing visibility and crash safety. Dealers update related software for free.
  • Lower front ball joint corrosion. Recall 16V735000 affects 4,177 trucks with potentially compromised seals allowing water ingress into ball joints, causing corrosion and wear that may lead to steering loss and crash risk. Drag links are replaced at no charge.
  • Upper front ball joint corrosion. This recall, also 16V735000, involves the same 4,177 trucks with compromised upper ball joint seals and identical risks as the lower joints. Repair procedures match those for the lower ball joints.

Owners of 2010 VOLVO VHD trucks dealing with repeated repairs due to these defects or unresolved recall issues may hold rights under their state lemon laws. Consulting legal resources might help clarify available options when safety concerns persist.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo) is recalling certain 2004-2019 Volvo VHD trucks equipped with snow plow lamp preparation kits. The snow plow headlights can be turned on without other exterior lights, and high beam indicator will not work when the snow plow high beams are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Risk: The driver may operate the vehicle with the snow plow headlights on but the marker and tail lamps off, reducing the vehicle's visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:UPPER BALL JOINT

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo) is recalling certain model year 2009-2016 VHD trucks manufactured from April 7, 2008, through December 9, 2015, equipped with USK non-greasable drag links. The ball joint seals may be compromised, which can allow water and other contaminants to enter the ball joints.

Risk: If water and contaminants enter the ball joint, corrosion can occur and lead to accelerated wear, which over time can result in failure of the ball joint, possibly resulting in complete loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.

POWER TRAIN:CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo) is recalling certain model year 2007-2014 VAH, VHD, VNL, VNM, and VT models. The affected vehicles were built without a redundant clutch disengagement switch. Without a redundant switch, a loss of signal from the brake air pressure switch can prevent the clutch from automatically disengaging when the brake is applied.

Risk: Without a signal to disengage the clutch when the brakes are applied, the distance required to stop the truck may lengthen, increasing the risk of a crash.

SEAT BELTS

Volvo is recalling certain model year 2002-2013 VHD and VN trucks, manufactured from August 4, 2000, through June 22, 2012, and equipped with bench passenger seats. The seat belt d-ring weld may not be sufficient enough to meet the seat belt pull test. Therefore, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."

Risk: In the event of a crash, an insufficient seat belt weld may prevent the seat belt from properly restraining the occupant. This increases the risk of injury to the seat occupant.

VOLVO IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2011 VHD, VNL, VNM, AS WELL AS 2008-2010 VT VEHICLES FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF PART 567, "CERTIFICATION." THE TIRE DESCRIPTION MAY BE INCORRECT ON THE VEHICLE'S CERTIFICATION LABEL.

Risk: THE MISINFORMATION ON THESE LABELS COULD LEAD TO A VEHICLE OVERLOADING THAT CAN INCREASE RISK OF A CRASH.
