There are five recalls affecting the 2023 VOLVO S60 that involve systems such as rearview cameras, braking, airbags, electrical components, and engine control. These recalls each address defects that could impact vehicle safety and drivability.
Recalls
- Back over prevention system. NHTSA recall 25V282000 covers 413,151 vehicles including the 2023 S60. The rearview camera may fail to display, reducing rear visibility and increasing crash risk. Dealers provide a free software update either in person or via over-the-air (OTA) update to fix the defect.
- Service brakes hydraulic. Recall 23V012000 affects 27,457 vehicles. A diagnostic error in the Brake Control Module 2 may cause loss of ABS, ESC, and traction control, raising crash risk. The fix is a free OTA update to the brake control software.

- Electrical system e-call. Recall 23V188000 applies to 393 vehicles. A false diagnostic trouble code may trigger a warning for the emergency call system, possibly delaying emergency response in a crash. Dealers will update the telematics and antenna software for free.
- Engine control module software. Recall 22V793000 affects 15,674 vehicles. An ECM software error can prevent the engine from starting and cause a loss of drive power, raising crash risk. Dealers will update the ECM software at no cost.

I received a previous recall notice for the backup camera not working and visited the dealership on August 19, 2025 to recieve the software update that was supposed to fix this problem. Since receiving the fix, I have continued to have the same intermittent interruption of the backup camera as I was having before the "fix". I do not believe the software fix helped the issue and this feels like an underpowered hardware issue.
