The driver's side frontal air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2012-2020 Volkswagen Passat and 2018-2019 Atlas vehicles. The blocking cap disabling the adjustment of the headlight's horizontal aim may not have been installed. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Risk: Without the blocking cap, the headlight aim can be adjusted out of specification, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

The vehicle's underbody heat shield may not be long enough to protect the right half-shaft grease boot from heat, potentially resulting in a grease leak.

Risk: If the leaking grease contacts a heated surface, such as the exhaust system and/or the diesel particulate filter (DPF), it could increase the risk of fire.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Passat vehicles equipped with TDI engines. Due to improperly assembled wire seals in a connector for an underbody sensor, water may enter and corrode the electrical connectors of the sensor, causing an electrical short.

Risk: An electrical short can cause the electrical connectors of the sensor to overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.

(Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Jetta vehicles manufactured March 28, 2014, to November 24, 2014, 2014-2015 Passat vehicles manufactured April 7, 2014, to November 18, 2014, 2015 Golf and GTI vehicles manufactured July 1, 2014, to November 20, 2014, and 2014-2015 Beetle and Beetle Convertible vehicles manufactured March 31, 2014, to November 27, 2014. A sealing cap at the fuel rail may fail, allowing fuel to leak into the engine compartment.

Risk: A fuel leak, in the presence of an ignition source, can result in a vehicle fire.

In the affected vehicles, debris may contaminate the air bag clock spring, a spiral wound, flat cable that keeps the air bag powered while the steering wheel is being turned. This contamination may tear the cable and result in a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag.

Risk: A loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag will prevent the air bag from deploying in the event of a vehicle crash, increasing the risk of injury.

CALLED IN APRIL WAS TOLD PARTS ARE NOW NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL SEPTEMBER AT THE EARLIEST AND NOW ITS SAYING THERE IS NOT EVEN A REMEDY AVAILABLE. AND THE POSSIBLE OUTCOME OF THE AIRBAG UNINTENTIONALLY GOING OFF IS SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO DRIVER AND PASSENGERS. I DRIVE MY CAR TO WORK EVERY DAY AND FEEL MORE UNSAFE FROM THE AIRBAG BEING A POTENTIAL HAZARD INSTEAD OF A SAFETY FEATURE.

When I call them they say they do not have the parts even though I was notified of the recall in December 2024. I also called into the NTHSA but no one answers your phone. In fact, I even brought my car into the dealer today, advised that the part was available, but in fact it was not. SIX MONTHS! Is this a critical issue or not? The dealer was contacted. The driver-side front airbag in my vehicle is under a safety recall due to the risk of it deploying improperly and releasing metal fragments, which could cause serious injury or death. I initially contacted the dealership in March and was told that I was not affected by the national backorder, and that the replacement part would arrive by early May. I have now been informed that the part will not be available until September. This delay is unacceptable and directly endangers my safety. I live in a region with high summer heat and humidity, conditions known to increase the risk of inflator failure in recalled airbags. Volkswagen, as the manufacturer, has failed to meet its recall obligations. I have contacted their customer service, and instead of offering a timeline, solution, or safe alternative, I was referred back to the dealership, who also had no answers. Volkswagen has provided no transportation assistance, no escalation process, and no accountability,even though they are responsible for ensuring the timely repair of this safety-critical component. The part has not been inspected or replaced by anyone, and I am being forced to drive a vehicle I know could cause serious harm. There are no warning lamps or error messages in the vehicle, but the danger is explicitly outlined in the recall itself. Volkswagen’s delay, lack of communication, and refusal to assist puts my safety, and the safety of others, at serious risk.

I received notice of this safety recall, and contacted Ganley VW of Bedford, 250 Broadway Ave, Bedford, OH 44146, (888) 650-9208. They scheduled an appointment for me to have my airbag fixed per the recall, but then they cancelled my appointment because the parts were on backorder with no foreseeable date to fix the issue. They said they'd call me when they could schedule, but it has been months and I have not received a call. I called again today, 4/22/25, and was told parts are still on backorder and I cannot schedule a time to get the issue fixed. I was told maybe in 2 more months I could get it fixed.

I took my car to the dealership for the recall on the airbag and was told they are unable to replace it at this time due to a parts issue. I live in Hawaii and from my understanding high temperatures and humidity exacerbate the issue and I am concerned for my safety and the safety of others.

My vehicle has a transmission coolant leak, which is common for some of the 2014 Passat. Not pretty sure if it is due to the faulty O-ring recalled for some of 2014 passats.

There is an active recall (69E6 - Driver Frontal Airbag Inflator) on my 2014 Volkswagen Passat. About 2 months ago, I scheduled an appointment with my local Volkswagen dealer to get this recall resolved. I was told that the parts were on back order and haven't heard anything for almost 2 months, meaning this is not being resolved in a timely manner and I continue to drive my car with added risk. I have continued to reach out to the dealer to no avail. Today, I then attempted to contact Volkswagen directly and was unable to gather anything of value as they continued to tell me that all I can do is continue to stay in touch with my Volkswagen dealer (conversation has been downloaded). At this point - I have no clue how to proceed and just wish to have my recall repaired so I can drive without extra risk of injury. Heater core has clogged after replacement in less than 12 months. This is the 4th occurrence of this failure on this vehicle. Failure has the risk to overheat engine. VW Technical Service Bulletin has been modified multiple times, but still doesn't fully resolve the issue.
