VinFast Auto, LLC (VinFast) is recalling certain 2023-2025 VF8 vehicles. The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) may activate during wide turns, causing unexpected steering wheel movements that are difficult for the driver to override.

Risk: A steering wheel that moves unexpectedly may increase the risk of a crash.

AIR BAGS

VinFast Auto, LLC (VinFast) is recalling certain 2022-2024 VF8 vehicles. Inactive ignitors may have been installed in the air bags.

Risk: Inactive ignitors can prevent the air bags from deploying, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

VinFast Auto, LLC (VinFast) is recalling certain 2023-2025 VF8 vehicles. The center air bag mounted in the driver's seat may deploy improperly during a side impact crash and strike the driver's arm.

Risk: An air bag that strikes the driver increases the risk of injury.

POWER TRAIN

The contact owns a 2023 Vinfast VF8. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 30 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power and came to a complete stop in the middle of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the vehicle was repaired but the contact was not provided a diagnostic report nor the repair information. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The 12v battery when car was purchased was defective. This caused the car to suddenly die. As per the sales manager where car was purchased heat disables the car from running properly.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

SUSPENSION

I have had nothing but brake and suspension problems with my 2023 Vinfast VF8. The vehicle has been to the dealer on three occasions because of brake and suspension noises which prompted the dealer to replace the entire suspension system. However, my concern is with the vehicle's brakes. Under low speed turning with no brakes applied, the vehicle made a metal on metal grinding noise. The vehicle was in the dealer twice for this problem. The first time they put updated brake pads on the vehicle and let me know that the original pads were too thick. The problem continued and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer a little over two weeks ago for the same problem. This time they sanded the surface of the brake pads to avoid them from rubbing against the rotar. The tech at the dealer told me that he beleives the issue may be that the brake caliper does not open wide enough to allow the pad distance from the caliper. Their solution is to sand the pad down. One, is this safe, and two, what happens when the car needs new brake pads, is the dealer going to cover the cost to continually shave the pads down for the life of the vehicle.

The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, another vehicle driving on the opposite side of the road aggressively proceeded into the front passenger side, causing a t t-boned collision. The impact caused the other vehicle to be pushed back to the opposite side of the road. The contact's vehicle then veered to the right and crashed into two more vehicles that were parked. The vehicle then came to a stop after the crash. No warning lights illuminated. The driver’s and passenger’s side air bags did not deploy. There was no property damage. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries to his hand, neck, and back, and his 2 children sustained general body pain. The contact and his children were still visiting the doctor for treatment. Injuries to the other vehicles were unknown. The vehicle was towed to a collision center, where the vehicle was deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,391.

SUSPENSION

I had several alert messages for weeks and after a service call, they told me that they were no issue. with all this alert messages it is impossible to let my Daughter driving the car. it is too risky.
