TRAILER HITCHES

Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain 2016-2024 BC1800XL brush chipper trailers. The tongue weldment may crack and separate from the tow hitch.

Risk: A hitch separation can cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.

TRAILER HITCHES

Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain 2022 BC1800XL trailers. The improper length mounting bolts were installed on the trailer hitches, resulting in inadequate thread engagement of the pintle hitch mounting bolts.

Risk: Inadequate thread engagement may result in bolt failure, possibly causing hitch separation and a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain model year 2008-2016 Vermeer BC1000XL, 2013-2016 BC700XL, 2012-2016 BC900XL, 2009-2016 BC1200XL, 2003-2016 BC1800XL, 2005-2014 BC600XL, 2005-2016 SC802 and 2005-2013 SC602 Brush Chippers and Stump Cutters. These models have LED side markers lights that do not have reflectors built into the lenses, reducing the visibility of the vehicle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Risk: The absence of reflectors could reduce the ability for others to see the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

EQUIPMENT

Vermeer is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 single axle brush chipper trailers because the axle mounting bolts could loosen, leading to axle separation from the brush chipper.

Risk: If the axle separates from the brush chipper, there is an increased risk of a crash.
