UD TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA (UD TRUCKS) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 UD 3300 TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH A DUAL STEERING SYSTEM. MODIFICATIONS TO THE VEHICLES MAY HAVE RESULTED IN LOSS OF ISOLATION BETWEEN THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS. THUS, THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NUMBER 121, “AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS.” MODIFICATIONS TO THE VEHICLES MAY HAVE RESULTED IN LOSS OF ISOLATION BETWEEN THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS.

Risk: IF THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCES AN AIR LEAK IN EITHER THE PRIMARY OR THE SECONDARY SYSTEM, THE VEHICLE MAY EXPERIENCE A TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKES, INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH.

NISSAN DIESEL IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 1999-2010 UD3300 VEHICLES. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 121, "AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS." THE BRAKE ACTUATION AND RELEASE TIMING OF THE AIR BRAKE SYSTEM ON THESE VEHICLES MAY NOT PERFORM CORRECTLY.

Risk: OPERATION OF A VEHICLE WITH INCORRECT AIR BRAKE APPLY/RELEASE TIMING MAY RESULT IN REDUCED BRAKING PERFORMANCE WITHOUT WARNING TO THE VEHICLE OPERATOR, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
