There is an occasional lag between when I press the accelerator to when the engine actually revs up. It's usually fairly minor at less than 1 second but today I was making a left turn on a busy road and the lag time was closer to 2-3 seconds and almost caused me to get T boned by two cars coming from my left. It happens from still and from slight rolling. Today I was completely stopped. I hit the gas and all it gave me was enough to roll me into oncoming traffic and then I was stuck in their lanes until it finally kicked in and carried me on through the turn. Apparently this is a known issue with a TSB for 22 and 23 year models. This is extremely dangerous and should warrant a recall before someone gets killed.

I am the original owner of a brand new 2024 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, and this issue began within the first 15,000 miles of regular dealer-maintained use. At approximately 14,800 miles, I noticed unusual and rapid outer shoulder wear on all four OEM Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 285/65R18 tires. A professional alignment inspection performed by Toyota Carlsbad dealership confirmed that the factory-set front toe angle was significantly out of Toyota’s specification (left front toe: +0.30°, right front: +0.10°, total front toe: +0.39°). This incorrect alignment was present from the factory and caused tire damage before any corrections were made. These settings match exactly what is described in Toyota Limited Service Campaign 24TD01, which applies to 2022–2023 Tundra models. However, my 2024 vehicle is not included, even though the defect and symptoms are identical. The alignment defect was confirmed and corrected by the dealership, but Toyota refused to replace the damaged tires, stating it is not a warrantable condition. However, this wear was directly caused by the misalignment on a new, factory-spec vehicle, maintained per Toyota guidelines. This condition presents a clear safety risk, as premature outer tire wear significantly reduces traction, affects handling, and increases stopping distance—especially in wet or emergency conditions. There were no warning lights or messages, making the condition undetectable until visible tire damage occurred. I filed a formal complaint with Toyota USA, but they declined further assistance. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether Toyota should expand Campaign 24TD01 to include 2024 models with the same alignment-related defect. The tires are available for inspection. I have supporting documentation including alignment reports, photos of tire wear, and communications with Toyota regarding this case #.

Complaint Against: Toyota Motor North America Category: Vehicle Warranty Obligations Toyota USA Case Number: [XXX] Dealer: Toyota Carlsbad Service Advisor: Ken McDonald Date Warranty Claim Submitted: [XXX] Date of Denial: [XXX] I am filing a complaint regarding Toyota’s denial of warranty coverage for premature tire wear on all four factory-installed Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 285/65R18 tires on my 2024 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. By 15,000 miles, I observed outer edge wear — a typical symptom of incorrect factory alignment. Following the dealer’s recommendation, I performed an alignment, and all scheduled maintenance, including tire rotations, has been completed at authorized Toyota dealerships. On [XXX], I submitted a warranty claim at Toyota Carlsbad. Ken McDonald inspected the tires and took photos, but no diagnostic work was performed — no alignment check, no suspension inspection. A month later, Toyota USA denied the claim based solely on Ken McDonald’s verbal opinion that “the problem is with the tires,” without any technical evaluation or factual basis. This is unacceptable. My issue clearly matches Toyota Service Campaign 24TD01, which confirms that certain 2022–2024 Tundra models may experience premature outer edge tire wear due to factory misalignment. My vehicle fits this description exactly. Requested Resolution: Replacement of the damaged tires under warranty or fair compensation for the financial loss. Toyota’s response represents a failure to uphold warranty obligations, raises serious safety concerns, and violates consumer rights. I respectfully request that the Better Business Bureau help ensure this case is reviewed fairly. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I feel a slight thud when hitting exactly 40MPH. This happens in Normal, Sport, and Echo. I can feel the thud from the steering wheel and gas pedal. I think it is a transmission fault since it happens exactly at 40 every time, even on smooth roads.

2024 Toyota Tundra is parked on an semi-inclined driveway. The fuel gauge and miles to empty resets back to full and the miles to empty at the max around 420 miles back to empty. Reported this incident when the mileage was around 300 to the dealership and nothing was done. A year forward I am still having this fuel gauge and miles reset issue. This is a safety hazard primarily due to the risk of unexpectedly running out of fuel. While the inaccurate reading itself doesn't directly damage the engine, running out of gas can lead to several problems. It's important to address a malfunctioning fuel gauge promptly.

WhenThe truck is on cruise control and there is a need to pass a vehicle in the freeway; I lightly accelerate push the pedal then there is no response ( the vehicle hesitates for a second or two) ; and suddenly the engine revs up (and jerks the truck) and slams the transmission to start accelerating. I looked up this issue and realized that may be a common issue. this has happened in several occasions since I bought the truck last year, I drive my truck very carefully. I will bring this issue to the attention of the dealer.

I am experiencing premature and uneven tire wear on my 2024 Toyota Tundra, specifically on the outer edges of the front tires. This has occurred despite proper rotation and no off-road use, the tires showed significant edge wear. Multiple alignment checks revealed improper front end camber and Toe settings, which appear to be part of a wider issue affecting many 2022-2024 Tundra's, especially 4WD models. Toyota has not issued a recall but has quietly revised alignment specifications at the dealer level to address the problem. This defect compromises tire life, vehicle handling, and potentially safety. I believe this issue should be formally investigated and addressed by the NHTSA.

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormally loud knocking sound coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The dealer performed an oil change. The contact stated that five days later the failure reoccurred. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an extremely loud knocking sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed crankcase which resulted in metal shavings in being found in the engine oil. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was advised that the repair was not covered under any special programs or warranty. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a pre-existing failure caused by flooding. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,596.

Driving 35 milers per hour down side road with no cars in front or behind us, and no cars passing us. The sunpanel burst and shattered into thousands of pieces .There was glass stuck into metal bar in rear, that’s how strong the explosion was. Pictures provided. I can confirm there was no chip in sunpanel prior to this happening. This is a huge safety issue. If the cloth panel was pulled back exposing the glass into the vehicle we would have glass stuck or embedded in our heads and we could have caused a major accident. The loud noise sounded like a gun shot and the driver swerved the car and slammed on the breaks because the sound was so loud.

This truck has squeaky brakes. I have complained to the dealer and filed a complaint with the complaint department at the corporate office. They are aware of the situation. I keep being told it is a know issue and parts are not available to repair the situation. Because this is a brake issue I am very concerned about my safety as I drive this vehicle, Please investigate this issue with Toyota and I believe a safety recall should be issued, In my many conversations with them I don.t feel they are concerned with this issue. I have been complaining and following up for over a year. I'm tired of complaining on deaf ears.

2024 limited, Hesitation when pressing accelerator. There will be no power for some time. then a sudden jolt of acceleration. The most memorable moments of this is when trying to turn left into a neighborhood while cross traffic is oncoming, trying to drive but the truck wont go. The indicator “Add or replace oil” comes on even just after being to the dealer to have my 15000 mile service checkup.I have only had oil changes at the dealer. The trucks brand new and costs too damn much to not have the dealer take care of this. Can see blue/gray smoke out of the tail pipe - proving the engines burning oil. I pointed this out and took video while dropping it off at the dealer, they acknowledged. Frequent rough starts, not every one but 3 out of 5, always accompanied by the smoke. Shifting is far too rough. From a stop to easing on the accelerator there is a large knock, smacking into gear. This isnt always accompanied by the hesitation either. The rough shifting occurs at highway speeds too. The dealership has had my truck 3 days tomorrow and the only information they give me is; “ the technician cant fix it without having to talk (back and forth {like phone tag}) directly with the engineers.” The only recall is for moisture accumulation in the reverse lights.

The truck has a very pronounced hesitation to accelerate after slowing down or coming to a stop. Example: slow down, come to a stop at a stop sign and then accelerating to start moving. This situation happens daily and almost on every occasion after slowing or stopping. It has gotten worse over time and this issue has put me and my family in very dangerous and scary situations as the truck does not accelerate promptly and oncoming traffic is getting closer. It really has made me concerned to drive my truck and feel unsafe doing so, especially with my family.

Vehicle hesitates/loses power on take of from a stop started happening about 2 months ago 3/1/2025. Which causes the care to stop at intersections making it a huge risk to the passengers and other cars. Then last week the car had a low oil light. Dropped vehicle off at dealer they found no leaks or issues and added oil to the car and said to drive for another 1k miles and bring it back.

My truck, which has a build date of July 2024, is having numerous on going episodes of hesitation and throttle lag when transitioning from a complete, or nearly complete stop. The truck was purchased in early October 2024. The hesitation was not noticeable at first. It began presenting itself after about 6 weeks of ownership and 1000 miles. Today, with 4200 miles on the vehicle, it hesitated twice on a 15 mile city trip. There is no rhyme or reason as to when it may present itself...such as warm/cold outside, vehicle warmed up or still cold, or from a rolling or a dead stop. It does appear to be getting more frequent with longer delays in throttle response. I consider this to be a high priority safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately. I have never experienced this condition in a vehicle before and I have purchased about 15 new vehicles in my lifetime. I am now scheduling an appointment for this matter to be addressed with the dealership.

A low speeds there is a delay in throttle response. If you come to a stop then step on the accelerator, the vehicle has no response for a short period of time where then it may buck or propel itself to catch up with the missed throttle. I recently picked this vehicle up from the dealer and was told there is no remedy for the issue at this time.

Driving down the road, my sunroof exploded. Sun shade was pulled so no injury. Dealer would not diagnose other than saying glass just doesn’t explode so must have been hit by something. I don’t believe that is the case. Easily as likely a manufacturer defect from the factory. I have had the truck for less than a year with 11000 miles

UNKNOWN:Urgent Safety Concern – Speedometer Visibility Issue in 2024 Toyota Tundra To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally raise a significant safety concern regarding the plastic speedometer cover on the 2024 Toyota Tundra. The material used for the speedometer screen is extremely prone to scratching, even under normal driving conditions. Despite using my vehicle exclusively for regular commuting, fine dust and routine cleaning have progressively worsened the visibility of the speedometer display. This issue is not just cosmetic—it is a growing safety hazard. The accumulation of scratches significantly reduces the clarity of speed readings, making it difficult to accurately monitor speed while driving. This can lead to unintended speeding, difficulty maintaining safe driving speeds, and an increased risk of accidents. Given that this problem is occurring under normal use, it is reasonable to assume that other Tundra owners will face similar issues over time, potentially leading to widespread safety concerns. I strongly urge Toyota to investigate this issue immediately and consider a recall or design modification to prevent further degradation of the speedometer visibility. Ensuring that drivers have a clear and unobstructed view of their speed is critical for road safety. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. I look forward to your response. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle has a persistent transmission issue which causes hesitation/shuddering under acceleration and cruising rpms. Toyota claims issue is software related after 5 trips to dealer. On this particular occasion the vehicle downshifted erratically climbing a steep roadway causing a loss of control in wet conditions activating the vehicle stability control. Vehicle was brought to dealer and Toyota Brand Engagement was notified requesting a remedy.

My Tundra iForce MAX was Toyota saleperson demo truck before I purchased it. Got my truck approx. 2XXX Mileage in late sept. I started noticed transmission vibration while medium acceleration approx. 40 mph in early October. Vibration only occur during transmission warm up. Been attending to 2 dealerships multiple times and they find nothing wrong with my transmission since November 2024. I got Loaner 2024 Tundra iForce recently with same 10 speed transmission, it felt lot smoother and no vibration at all for a whole week before return the loaner. The vibration from my Tundra feels like clutch slippery somewhere from transmission or K0 Clutch. Some time it makes the acceleration feels delay while it was vibrating aka slippery. 2nd problem, I noticed left front tire edge shows sign of start worn out while tire is only have 8k miles on it. Dealership checked the alignment and said nothing found wrong. They recommended me to tire rotation on 5k miles without offer replace tire that is about to show bald on edge. Tire is factory off road package tire aka Falken Wildpeak AT3WA. 3rd problem, during first oil change at 5k miles. I noticed there is oil residue on bottom bell housing between engine and electric motor. Dealership cleaned it and wanted me to come back at 10k miles routine maintenance inspection. Around 6k miles, I took a look at the leak area. Oil came back as seeping. Dealership denied and said there is no leak at this time. Saw the oil residue from their inspection report.

We are leasing a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The brakes are screeching when we reverse. We reported the issue to the Toyota dealership located on IH 35 , in San Antonio, Texas. We then called and made an appointment to repair the brakes more than a month ago. My husband went to the appointment. He was provided with a courtesy ride back home because the brakes would take most of the day. He no sooner got home and the courtesy taxi was coming back to pick up our Tundra, Toyota service told him that they did not have the brake parts to make the repair and they would call us when they received the parts to make the repair. It has been over a month and we have called several times and spoken to several service people and sales about the bad service. One of the service workers stated that they were waiting for parts and the parts were still not available. This is a very poor and unacceptable excuse. I want to return the Tundra and I want the down payment that I have given when I purchased this vehicle.

Jan 29, my truck went into “limp” mode while traveling on the interstate. I was able to move to the side of the road and safely exit the interstate. Took the truck to Right Toyota where they identified a misfire on cylinder 5. They reset the codes and did nothing to the truck when they took the engine apart. They claimed nothing was wrong. On Feb 22, I started the truck and it was running in idle very rough. I went to put the truck in drive and it wouldn’t go. The emergency brake was set and wouldn’t disengage. Took it to Toyota and the code showed cylinder 3 was misfiring. They took the engine apart and found the piston had a score marking. They are replacing the piston as part of the warranty. I am finding posts by other 2024 tundra owners who are having engine problems too. Seems to be an issue but nothing has been recalled yet.

Vehicle has major hesitation issues. If I am coming up to a light and it turns green when I am below 5 mph, maybe around 1-2 mph, it will not go. It lags for around 3-5 seconds before it decides to go again. Sometimes from a stop if I am turning left, I try to cross traffic and go, it is very slowly moving even with me pushing the gas and then seconds later it finally goes but almost causing me to get hit! I now have to make sure there are large openings because I don't trust the truck and the dealer won't fix it.

I upgraded from my 2017 Tacoma to a 2024 Tundra because of a growing family and the as advertised 2024 listed the same (if not better) fuel economy than my Tacoma. I am the truck says 17 city-22 highway mpg, I've not seen anything remotely close to that. Im currently getting 14 city 16.5 highway. I understand there are outside factors that could be at play, however I'm not even getting the city mpg on long trips. Having paid roughly $65k for this truck I think it should deliver as advertised. I've expressed my concern with my local dealership and was instructed to manually calculate the mpg to make sure the truck was showing the correct mpg. I can assure you that the mpg the truck is displaying is, unfortunately, correct. I've also filed a complaint with Toyota corporate and they pushed it back to my local dealership. No kne is taking accountability for this false advertisement. Frankly, I'm disappointed Toyota can continue to sell vehicles with fakse information. This reminds me of the VW diesel debacle years ago when VW finally got exposed for wrongdoing. I know many others have expressed this same concern. I hope NHTSA takes this matter seriously and forces Toyota to make this right somehow.

The fuel gauge will randomly move to full and stay there even if the tank was almost empty. You can be at half tank and then next day it shows full and it won’t reset on its own. If you don’t catch it you will think tanks full. This could easily strand someone who assumes they have a full tank. This occurs when vehicle is parked and off on restart it shows full.

From what I understand many people are having the same problem with the tundras. Toyota dealership tried to solve the remedy by putting insulation in the rubber seals in the corners it quieted it down a little bit but it’s still beyond what a $75,000 vehicle should sound like while driving 45 miles and above an hour it’s very annoying to hear other cars and traffic in this this vehicle. The seals around the windows and the door jams are faulty and need to be addressed. Thank you for your time

Toyota placed a tinted coating over its chrome on the platinum trim. The coating is pealing off. My vehicle is garaged and has 6,200 gentle miles on it. The coating appears to be bubbling, so there is an issue with it. When at the dealership getting the warranty claim addressed, I saw their own 'parts truck' of same year and trim as mine also was pealing and I pointed it out to them. Doing further research, I've seen multiple online forum images of others experiencing the issue. It appears Toyota's solution is to replace the grill/bumper chrome with the same material, so I fear it will only happen again. The fix is pending.

Stopped at a stop sign, slightly uphill, turning from a residential street onto a busier road. When I pressed the accelerator, the pickup moved a bit and then hesitated. After pressing the accelerator further, the pickup accelerated suddenly and quickly. This has happened intermittently, multiple times. This is NOT the case of the auto start-stop system not starting quickly enough. The first risk is not being able to smoothly accelerate into traffic and getting hit from behind because of the hesitation. When the vehicle does accelerate, it jerks forward suddenly and quickly, often losing grip from the rear tires. This causes a risk of losing control or veering into the oncoming lane. The problem has been reported and the mechanics worked with the field engineers to diagnose the issue. The field engineers reported that this is a known problem There were no warning lights or other indicators that any component is malfunctioning. The problem first appeared with under 2,000 miles on the odometer and has repeated intermittently. I have not yet been able to determine a series of events that trigger the issue. It did happen a few times when stopped slightly uphill, but that isn't the only time. It is not clear whether it is the accelerator, throttle, engine, transmission, computer, or data transmission causing the problem.

Holiday trip from Alabama to New York on [XXX] the fuel gauges (2 warning systems) malfunctioned. Since new the fuel gauge always read 415-420 “Miles to empty” after fueling, no wait. In the trip at one point after fueling the gauge started showing 24 miles until empty on a full take. This was after driving and stopping for lunch or snacks somewhere along the way. Not knowing which gauge was correct made us stop more frequently for fuel. After this event the “Miles to Empty” has never went back to the original 415-422. The miles to empty has been sporadic from 24, 100+, 200+, 300+ And last night 370. I filed a complaint with Toyota and was given a case number. The dealer says “they’ve never heard of it”. There are reports of this problem starting in 2022 and up models all over the internet but the dealer says “you can’t trust people on the www”. Actually I do trust most of the Toyota Tundra users that are reporting these problems. This problem could cause drivers/ families to be stranded for various fuel reasons. As stated for my 1100 mile trip to and from NY it made me stop more frequently for fuel so I wouldn’t chance being stranded with my family of 4. I shared a video and photo with Toyota when I opened the case. Now I am driving around helping them to figure out the problem since they refused to provide me a loaner car so they could research the problem. At the time of the initial event the gauge stayed at 24 miles to empty until I stopped for fuel. After getting the next tank the reading was sporadic until at some point going to the 300’s reading but has never returned to the 415-422 reading that it had been for the full year prior. After making a complete stop, there is an extended delay around 3 seconds before the truck responds to the gas pedal being pressed. When it does respond it launches forward and causes the tires to break free. This has almost caused at least 7 accidents.

The engine periodically lags and is not responsive when pedal is pressed. When the engine catches up, the RPMs skyrocket.

After coming to a stop there is an acceleration hesitation that cause the truck to take a second or two to start going again. This is very dangerous when pulling out in traffic

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at approximately 30 MPH and depressing the brake pedal to stop for a traffic signal, the vehicle's rear end was swerving to the right and left directions. The contact stated that the rear wheels had at moments stopped turning which made the vehicle skip and bounce before he was able to stop. Additionally, the contact stated that when he was driving at approximately 65 MPH and traffic was slowing down, as he depressed the brake pedal it traveled to the floorboard in order to slow the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where the failure was not able to be diagnosed. The contact stated that he had taken the vehicle back to the same dealer three other times for the same failure and was told that the failure was not able to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 300.

Accelerating from a stop sign when the vehicle stalled and hesitated to go for approximately 2 seconds. The vehicle eventually accelerated with no issues afterwards. Cross traffic was nearby and had to slow down so my vehicle could clear the highway.

The safety issue I have is that my truck will display hesitation in moving forward or accelerating. I have been in a few intersections trying to turn left and when pressing on the gas pedal there is a delay in responding to the gas pedal being pushed. I’ve discussed this with the dealer and was informed that this is normal behavior. The dead pedal has me very concerned for my safety and the safety of others while driving my truck.

While driving on the highway at approximately 65mph my sunroof spontaneously exploded. It was as loud as a gunshot and glass rained down into the cab as well as “exploded” upward and outward raining down behind my truck while driving. This startled me and all passengers. There were no vehicles ahead of us or in the oncoming lanes on the other side of the separated highway. No foreign debris was found in the truck and there was no other damage anywhere other than the obvious glass lying everywhere. I previously complained to the dealership during routine service that the sunroof made a rattling sound during light bumps. The routine service was completed and I was given the response of “our techs couldn’t reproduce the sound(s) so we can’t help with that today”. They assured me that I could leave the truck and they would look into it “when they could” but that I’d have to leave the truck in the lot and not be given a loaner vehicle.

Gas pedal intermittently goes completely NON-responsive. Vehicle will not accelerate when this issue occurs. Pulling out into traffic is very dangerous when this issue happens. No errors are reported from the vehicle but the gas pedal is completely dead during the issue.
