Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles. The second-row center and right-side seats may have insufficiently welded head restraint brackets. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints."

Risk: A head restraint bracket that is insufficiently welded may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware that the front driver’s side headlight lens had detached from the headlight. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a detached driver’s front headlight lens. The contact was informed that the front driver’s headlight needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure impaired the driver's visibility while driving. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle had not been involved in a crash to cause the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

SERVICE BRAKES

The car randomly puts the parking brake on. I got to drive and the parking brake has activated. The car when placed in park has always made a noise, but prior to the parking brake thing, it started sounding like a squeal instead of the usual noise

How Safety Was Put at Risk: The vehicle experiences severe vibration, uneven wheel acceleration, and deactivation of traction and stability control. This compromises braking, emergency handling, and overall stability — especially dangerous in rain, snow, or during evasive maneuvers. The alignment of the rear differential and axles is visibly off-center, indicating a shifted or bent subframe. These defects pose a risk of driveline damage or failure while driving. Was the Problem Confirmed by a Service Center? Yes, multiple Toyota dealerships and independent shops confirmed symptoms including vibration, tire wear, and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). However, no dealership has acknowledged or addressed the underlying subframe misalignment or driveline distortion. Some attempted to blame scan tools (Moses), while others dismissed the vehicle as “safe to drive” despite active faults (L&S Toyota) Has It Been Inspected by Manufacturer/Police/Insurance? It has been seen by manufacturer-affiliated dealers and independent mechanics, but not formally by Toyota Corporate or insurance. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while attempting to use the key fob to lock the vehicle, the doors failed to lock as needed. The passenger’s side rear doors were unable to be locked automatically or by using the buttons inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed and determined that the lock actuators on the rear doors were inoperable and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 37,500.

This 2023 was bought brand new and has been driven for 2.5 years. At just over 60000 miles the transmission failed. I have had this car serviced regularly with no indications or warnings of any problems until it just stopped shifting normally one day. Took it to toyota and they ran a diagnostic indeed stating the transmission has to be replaced entirely. And because I am just over 60000 miles they will not honor a warranty on it. Transmissions should not go out at 62000 miles. This is a defect.

Upon being brought to the dealer they’re telling me that the car’s physical battery (low amperage) is responsible for disabling the vehicles factory safety settings. Aside from having an open dispute with this dealer at the moment to cover the problem under my platinum warranty, this is a major defect in Toyota motor corps factory vehicle settings. At the moment the car is a safety liability because of a “battery”

SERVICE BRAKES

When pressing the brake pedal a clicking vibrating sound comes from the brake pedal area. Per the manufacturer it is coming from abs system and is common for all the toyota camry 2023. This noise is definitely not normal and need to be assessed if there can be hazards related to this.

There is a defect on my front panoramic sunroof panel. The glass is too thin and the stress and tension caused the glass to break and shatter. No object struck the sunroof.
