The 2010 THOMAS BUILT BUSES MINOTOUR has 0 complaints and 19 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to electrical wiring, wheelchair lift malfunctions, and body structure defects as outlined in numerous recalls.
The vehicle has 19 recalls affecting various systems including electrical components, wheelchair lifts, fire extinguishers, and body structure. These recalls address safety risks such as potential fires, injury hazards from wheelchair lift operation, and emergency exit failures.
Recalls- Battery cables. (Recall 10V394000 and 10V393000) Main body power cables routed near sharp edges may wear through insulation causing short circuits. This defect risks a vehicle fire and occupant injury. Daimler Trucks will inspect and reroute or replace cables free of charge.
- Air conditioner fuse. (Recall 11V223000 and 11V222000) Fuse holders in evaporator units may loosen causing high resistance and arcing, which can melt the fuse holder and start a fire. Owners will be notified and provided retrofit kits from Carrier at no cost.
- Wheelchair lift roll stops. (Recall 12V226000 and 12V225000) Roll stop latches on wheelchair lift outer barriers may bend or misalign, enabling a wheelchair occupant to bypass the latch and possibly fall if the lift is elevated. Repairs are performed by authorized dealers free of charge.
- Roof hatch openings. (Recall 12V296000 and 12V297000) Increased friction in Prolo roof hatch assemblies causes opening forces to exceed federal standards, possibly hindering emergency egress and risking occupant injury. Service kits and repair instructions are provided to dealers and owners for free.
- Wheelchair lift link arms. (Recall 15V565000 and 15V564000) Some Ricon wheelchair lifts have oversized pivot holes causing bearings to shift and platform mounting to fail. This could cause the lift platform to fall out when doors open, risking injury. Dealers will inspect and replace damaged parts at no charge.
- Wheelchair lift operation without parking brake. (Recall 19V170000) Wheelchair lifts can be operated without the parking brake engaged after key-off, allowing the vehicle to move when in neutral. This poses injury risk during lift use. Dealers will modify wiring free of charge.
- Wheelchair lift shift interlock. (Recall 20V690000) Drivers may release the park brake and shift out of Park while the wheelchair lift is deployed, violating safety standards. This increases the risk of vehicle movement and injury. Dealers will modify lift wiring as needed at no cost.
- Wheelchair lift operation in gear. (Recall 18V157000 and 18V158000) Wheelchair lifts on certain chassis models can operate while the vehicle is in Neutral or Drive, increasing injury risk. Dealers will inspect and correct wiring connections free of charge.
- Fire extinguisher malfunction. (Recall 18V083000) Kidde plastic-handle fire extinguishers may clog or require excessive force to activate, and nozzles could detach causing injury and inoperability. Owners will be instructed to contact Kidde for replacement units at no charge.
- Wheelchair lift relay missing. (Recall 18V301000) Wheelchair lifts may be operable when the vehicle is in Neutral or Drive due to a missing relay in the interlock wiring harness. This defect raises injury risk from unintended vehicle movement. Repairs will be done free of charge by dealers.
Owners facing repeated repairs, unresolved recall issues, or safety defects involving systems such as the electrical harness or wheelchair lifts may have rights under state lemon laws.
