A defective O-ring can cause coolant leakage into the heater core compartment, potentially overheating or melting the actuator PC board and risking a fire. Repairs are free through Thomas Built dealerships and began July 6, 2010.
- Seat mounting weld defect. Recall 10V487000 impacts 6 MVP-EF and HDX non-school buses from 2009. The weld holding the mounting tab to the shock body may break, causing the driver seat to drop unexpectedly and possibly leading to momentary loss of steering control and a crash. Repairs are free at authorized service centers since November 24, 2010.
- Heater coolant valve actuator (non-school buses). Recall 10V184000 covers 118 2009–2010 HDX non-school buses with the same coolant leakage defect as recall 10V183000. Repairs are free and began July 6, 2010.
- Seat mounting weld defect extension. Recall 10V486000 expands recall 10V487000 to 294 MVP-EF, HDX, and SAF-T-LINER C2 school buses from 2009. The weld defect could cause sudden seat drop and loss of steering control, risking a crash. Repairs by authorized facilities are free and started November 24, 2010.
- Engine grid heater expansion. Recall 11V455000 expands recalls 10V340000 and 10V341 to 43 vehicles from 2005 through 2012. The short circuit defect in the intake air grid heater can cause fire and injury risks. Repairs by Detroit Diesel Corporation authorized facilities are free and began September 12, 2011.
