2009 TEREX DIGGER DERRICK Complaints and Recall Information

The 2009 TEREX DIGGER DERRICK has 0 complaints and 5 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to equipment durability and electrical safety. The recalls address multiple components affecting the structural integrity and electrical systems of the vehicle.

There are five recalls related to different systems including equipment components, structural parts, and electrical safety mechanisms. These recalls involve safety defects that could cause injury if left unaddressed.

Recalls
  • Lanyard anchors. Recall 11V048000 affects 254 vehicles manufactured between June 2008 and November 2010. The lanyard anchors were not properly heat treated, which can cause fractures. Failure of these anchors increases the risk of personal injury or death. Dealers will replace the anchors free of charge. The recall began February 11, 2011.
  • Hydraulic cylinder components. Recall 13V089000 affects 261 XL4000 Digger Derrick trucks from 1999 to 2012. The shims and spacers used to adjust hydraulic cylinder length may fail, causing fatigue of the rod eye and threads. This can lead to separation of the hydraulic cylinder from the derrick arm and sudden collapse. Dealers will inspect and replace affected parts including upgrading to a hardened spacer free of charge. The recall began May 23, 2013.
  • Digger derrick arm structure. Also included in Recall 13V089000, the failure of shims and spacers affects the structural integrity of the digger derrick arm, increasing the risk of collapse and injury. Repairs coincide with the hydraulic cylinder fix and are made at no cost.
  • Ground fault protection equipment (GFPE) breaker. Recall 17V320000 covers 58 vehicles from 2007-2016 with various aerial devices and digger derricks. The GFPE breaker may not trip properly during a short circuit at the onboard electrical socket, risking electrical shock to users. Dealers will replace breakers with GFCI breakers that trip at lower currents free of charge. Recall started June 27, 2017.
  • Electrical system safety. Included in Recall 17V320000, the electrical system defect relates to inadequate protection against shock due to faulty breakers. Owners will be notified and repairs provided at no cost. No "Do Not Drive" or "Park Outside" advisories were issued for these recalls.

Owners dealing with repeated repairs or unresolved recall issues may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a legal professional can help clarify options when safety defects persist or repairs fail.
