Recalls
  • Roll stop latch defect. NHTSA recall 12V186000 affects 2,060 vehicles. Certain 2007-2010 transit buses with Braun Century-2 and Vista-2 wheelchair lifts have roll stop latches that may bend or misalign, risking a wheelchair occupant falling if the platform is elevated. Repairs are performed by authorized Braun dealers free of charge.
  • Pendant cable fire risk. NHTSA recall 13V067000 involves 1,858 buses from model years 2006-2012 with Ricon lifts. The armored pendant cable may contact the power lug, causing a short circuit and possible fire. Ricon provides a protective cover kit free of charge. No Do Not Drive advisory.
  • Cracked platform side plates. Recall 14V662000 covers 1,705 buses from 2006-2014 with specific Ricon wheelchair lifts. Cracks in platform side plates could cause the lift platform to separate and fall, risking injury. Owners are instructed to have supplemental support bumpers installed or platforms replaced at no cost.
  • Link arm and bearing failure. Recall 16V369000 affects 759 buses from 2008-2014. Folding link arms may have oversized pivot holes allowing bearings to shift, possibly causing the lift platform to fall when doors open. Inspections and parts replacement are performed free of charge by Ricon dealers.
  • Folding link arm issues. Recall 16V014000 applies to 1,762 buses from 2008-2014. Bearing displacement in folding link arms may cause platform failure and fall risk similar to recall 16V369000. Damaged parts are replaced free of charge. This recall follows a similar 2014 recall, with continued issues after prior repairs.

Owners with repeated repairs or unresolved recall issues concerning the wheelchair lift system may have rights under their state lemon laws. Consulting with a legal professional specializing in consumer protection could help clarify these rights.
