2021 SPARTAN K2 Complaints and Recall Information
The 2021 SPARTAN K2 has 0 complaints and 11 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to braking performance, steering components, and suspension fasteners based on recall information. No specific customer complaints have been documented to date.
Eleven recalls affect various systems including brakes, steering, suspension, electrical, and fuel systems. The recalls address safety defects that could impair vehicle control or increase fire risk.
Recalls- Air brake supply reservoir. (NHTSA 22V785000) 540 vehicles recalled due to an undersized air brake supply reservoir that may reduce braking performance during repetitive braking, increasing crash risk. The manufacturer will replace the reservoir free of charge. No "Do Not Drive" or "Park Outside" advisory issued.
- Instrument cluster display. (NHTSA 21V589000) 2727 vehicles recalled because the instrument cluster may go blank intermittently while driving, which could hide critical information like speed and warning lights, increasing crash risk. Control module software will be updated and duct work secured at no cost.
- Steering gear mounting fasteners. (NHTSA 21V041000) 548 vehicles recalled due to possible loose or missing fasteners that could interfere with steering components and cause difficulty steering, increasing crash risk. Fasteners will be replaced or tightened free of charge.
- Rear suspension mounting fasteners. (NHTSA 21V776000) 660 vehicles recalled because fasteners attaching the rear-drive axle to the suspension may loosen or break, allowing axle shift and elevating crash risk. Inspection and necessary repairs will be performed for free.
- Fuel line hose leak (diesel). (NHTSA 21V566000) 309 vehicles with Cummins L9 diesel engines recalled for potential fuel leaks from hoses between fuel pump and remote filter, which may raise fire risk. Fuel hoses will be replaced free of charge.
- Fuel rail sealing washer. (NHTSA 21V319000) 2783 vehicles recalled due to improperly seated sealing washers that could cause high-pressure fuel rail leaks, increasing fire risk. Inspection and replacement of the rail as needed will be covered at no cost.
- Steering output shaft. (NHTSA 21V214000) 37 vehicles recalled because a too-short steering output shaft inside the column could disengage from the input shaft, causing loss of steering and crash risk. Dealers will inspect and replace steering columns if necessary free of charge.
- Rear suspension mounting bracket weld. (NHTSA 21V347000) 8 vehicles recalled over improperly welded rear suspension mounting brackets that may break and allow axle shift, raising crash risk. Inspections and axle replacements will be done free of charge.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs or unresolved recall problems involving steering, braking, or suspension safety issues may have legal rights under state lemon laws. They should consult with legal professionals experienced in motor vehicle defect cases.

2021 SPARTAN K2
540 vehicles affected
SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:SUPPLY:RESERVOIR/TANK
Shyft Group is recalling certain 2021-2023 Spartan K2 RV Chassis. The air brake supply reservoir is less than 12x the combined volume of air for all service brake chambers. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, "Air Brake Systems."
Risk: The undersized air brake supply reservoir may provide an insufficient air supply to properly operate the brakes during repetitive braking, reducing braking performance and increasing the risk of a crash.
2021 SPARTAN K2
2727 vehicles affected
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL
Shyft Group is recalling certain 2018-2022 K1, K2, K3, and K4 Spartan RV Chassis. The instrument cluster may intermittently go blank while the vehicle is in motion.
Risk: A blank instrument cluster display may be missing critical information such as the vehicle's speed and warning lights, which can increase the risk of a crash.
2021 SPARTAN K2
309 vehicles affected
FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
Shyft Group is recalling certain 2021-2022 Spartan RV Chassis K2 vehicles equipped with Cummins L9 Diesel Engines that have remote Stage 2 fuel filters and pressurized hoses. A fuel leak may occur from the fuel hose between the fuel pump and the remote fuel filter head.
Risk: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of a fire.
2021 SPARTAN K2
660 vehicles affected
SUSPENSION
Shyft Group is recalling certain 2020-2022 Spartan RV Chassis K1 and K2 recreational vehicles. The rear suspension mounting fasteners that attach the rear-drive axle to the rear suspension may not have been tightened properly, which could allow the fasteners to loosen or break.
Risk: Loose or broken suspension fasteners can allow the rear-drive axle to shift out of place, increasing the risk of a crash.
2021 SPARTAN K2
548 vehicles affected
STEERING
Shyft Group is recalling certain 2020-2021 RV Chassis K2, K3, K4 vehicles. The steering gear mounting fasteners may come loose, and fall out or interfere with other steering components.
Risk: If the steering gear mounting fasteners interfere with other steering components, difficulty in steering may occur, increasing the risk of a crash.
2021 SPARTAN K2
2783 vehicles affected
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM:FUEL RAIL
Shyft Group is recalling certain 2017-2022 Spartan RV Chassis K2 and K3 vehicles. The sealing washer may not seat correctly in the pilot bore holes, allowing the high pressure fuel rail assembly to leak.
Risk: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
2021 SPARTAN K2
8 vehicles affected
SUSPENSION:REAR
Shyft Group is recalling certain 2021 Spartan RV Chassis K2. The rear suspension mounting bracket may be improperly welded on top of the rear drive axle.
Risk: The mounting bracket may break, allowing the axle to shift and increasing the risk of a crash.
2021 SPARTAN K2
37 vehicles affected
STEERING
Shyft Group is recalling certain 2021-2022 Spartan RV Chassis K1, K2, K3, and K4 vehicles. The steering output shaft inside the steering column may be too short and could disengage from the steering input shaft.
Risk: Disengagement of the steering output shaft could result in a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.
