EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Royal Enfield North America Limited (Royal Enfield) is recalling certain 2023 Himalayan, Classic 350, Meteor 350, Hunter 350, Super Meteor 650, Int 650, and Continental GT 650 motorcycles. The side and rear reflectors are not sufficient. As such, these lights fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Risk: Without the proper reflective equipment, it may be difficult for other road users to see the motorcycle from the rear or side, increasing the risk of a crash.

The rear brake constantly needs to be bled. If not done, the brake pedal will hit the stop, resulting in little or no brake action. This seems to be a common, recurring issue with many owners reporting the issue in online forums.

Dear NHTSA Safety Team, I am writing to file an urgent safety complaint regarding my 2023 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, which experienced a catastrophic failure of the rear braking system while I was riding on a public road. On [insert date], while traveling at approximately 50 mph, I heard a loud metallic noise from the rear of the motorcycle. Shortly after, I attempted to slow down using the rear brake to enter my driveway, but the brake pedal went fully down with no braking response whatsoever. Upon inspection, I discovered that one of the brake pad pins was loose and one of the rear brake pads had completely fallen off, disabling the rear brake. Had I needed to stop suddenly or avoid a collision, this defect could have caused a serious accident or fatal injuries. The motorcycle is under warranty, has not been modified, and is maintained properly. I have contacted the dealer, but given the nature of this failure, I believe this may be indicative of a manufacturing or assembly defect affecting other units as well. I am attaching photographic evidence of the defect and would appreciate it if your office could review this case and advise whether further investigation is warranted. Please let me know if you need additional documentation or if I can assist further in the process. Thank you for your time and for prioritizing vehicle safety.
