EQUIPMENT

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

Risk: If the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.

STEERING

Truck was "repaired" under Recall V06. Drag link/track bar was welded in place, which was supposed to be a temporary fix until parts became available to replace the bad drag link. In Mar of this year, I had the ball joints replaced. Upon repair, my steering wheel was cocked to the left in order to drive straight. Brought the truck back to have that repaired. Service center told me that because the part had been welded, they would have to break the weld, center the steering wheel, and reweld the part. That took place but did not fix the problem. My truck still turns right when the steering wheel is level. I have since been caught between Ram Customer Care and the dealership with each telling me the other needs to "do something" and both referring me to the other for assistance. I have attached photos of the work done and a copy of the recall. The weld job done on my truck is horrible, if not unsafe. But, I have to drive my truck. I think Ram is taking advantage of the good faith the Administration has shown them by allowing them to decide whether to make the replacement of the part. It should be mandatory. Probably thousands of Ram trucks in a similar situation on America's roads. The welded adjustment sleeve makes a proper alignment of the steering wheel impossible. The alignment is designed to be adjusted. Finally, I noted that the dealership violated the "do not sell" of the recall. I bought the truck in March 2019, without the recall call work done - unbeknownst to me. They did not take the recall seriously.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

First, I was not involved in an incident or accident with my vehicle. My concern is for my safety in the future while driving this vehicle. My RAM 2500 Power Wagon has a safety recall C4B/NHTSA 24V-896 for the brake system but there are no parts available to fix it. I currently have an ABS caution light with a "Service Electronic Braking System" and "Service Automatic Braking System" that constantly flashes and dings at random. I took my vehicle in to my local dealership and they told me there are no parts available and they were unable to fix the ongoing problem. I asked if my vehicle was safe to drive and they told me they cannot legally tell me if it is safe or not. There is no way forward to fix my vehicle and I haven't received any information other than "we are waiting on parts". With this being a safety issue, I would expect a loaner vehicle of a similar make and model. I do not feel it is safe to continue to drive my truck with these warning lights associated with an active safety recall. I am looking for advice or some help with this issue.

My truck would not start. I found that I could shift the vehicle into gear without the key in the ignition or foot on the brake. It appeared that the truck would not start because it could not tell when it was in park. I had to be towed to a dealership, who discovered that the Shift Interlock Solenoid had failed. There is a previous recall for the same year, make and model of my truck, but did not include my VIN. I feel that this is the same issue for which the recall was issued and mine should be included. I incurred a $640 repair bill.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

While operating my 2018 Ram 2500, the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) failed suddenly and completely, causing the loss of: Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Traction Control This failure occurred without warning, creating an immediate risk of accident. The dashboard illuminated warning lights indicating system failure. The most recent diagnostic, performed by Einspahr Auto in Brookings, SD confirmed that the HCU requires replacement. Previous incidents with the vehicle involved intermittent failures of the same systems, indicating a persistent and unresolved safety defect. The dealer has not indicated when a permanent fix will be available. Due to the ongoing safety risk and extended timeline for repair, I am requesting a manufacturer buyback at this time. Stellantis has not provided any acceptable fix which does not impose financial hardship while the vehicle remains unsafe. Impact / Safety Concern: -The vehicle cannot be safely driven. -Significant risk of injury or property damage due to failure of critical braking and stability systems. Requested Action: I request federal oversight and that Stellantis provide a permanent remedy, including: -Manufacturer Buyback – Repurchase of my current 2018 Ram 2500 at 120% of the current market value; or -Manufacturer Replacement – A comparable vehicle with no unremedied recalls, free of the defect, and without additional cost Legal Assertion: I am submitting this complaint in good faith under 49 U.S.C. §30166 and related federal safety defect statutes. This is about the mirror back up camera. Since I bought it new in 2018 the camera started to not working properly. The first time I noticed was when I was at the bank and was about to reverse at which time the camera should be on the mirror and showing the objects on back of the teuck, apparently was nothing and I hit a metal Pole. After that I never trusted the camera and I noticed that the camera appears sometimes but it freezes so it doesn’t show images in real time. At other times after I put my truck in drive camera it’s still on the mirror so I’m driving with the camera on, I have to completely stop, turn the truck off and turn it back on to solve the problem. Camera also glitches at times. I mentioned this problem to the dealer where I bought the truck and to the one in Merced CA but nobody listens!! I’m frustrated, really don’t know what to do. This is an ongoing issue and big problem for me. And if my son is going to borrow the truck I have to remind him no to rely on the camera.

At times the truck will stay in a gear too long and not switch over in a timely manner or it it will switch gears too quickly. The dealership and another quote says it seems it could be the transmission valve plate and solenoid all the way up to a new transmission is needed. The truck has only 53,000 miles and maintained routine oil Changes and maintenance. I would like to see if there is a recall or one needed because I have never owned vehicle that needed a transmission at 53,000. That’s insane.

The trailer connector behind the bumper developed corrosion on the connector pins. This vehicle has always been in Arizona. No rain snow to make this occur. While pulling my 30 ft trailer home from the mountains the trailer brakes suddenly disconnected due to the pin corrosion. Had this connector been sealed like the ones in the engine compartment, the pins would not corrode. Driving steep mountain grades pulling a 30 ft trailer now became a major safety issue. Fortunately there was no incident arising from this. The solution is simple.... seal the connector. I have read about other individuals that have the same failure.

TIRES:VALVE

Hi I have been driving for over 42 years & never had a tire valve fail on me. This past winter we drove cross country, form Pennsylvania to Arizona, pulling a 26' trailer. I am meticulous about monitoring my tire air pressure. We were heading back home in April & my TPMS system set off an alert that my driver's side rear tire was losing air. We pulled over & I changed out to our spare. I went to inflate the tire & discovered the leak was at the valve. The rubber had delaminated from the threaded tube. I had tire replaced just north of Nashville Tennessee. When we got home, I went to perform a tire rotation & discovered that the new tire(carried as a spare) had a bad valve. Firestone replaced that valve. 2 weeks ago, on my way home from a doctor's appointment, I had another valve fail. Again Firestone replaced it. My concern is 3 valves failing in 3 months time. Tires were purchased new 6/2024, valves were allegedly changed. 3 valves failures in 3 months from different Firestone locations separated by 1000 miles. I am looking to get a new set of tires before we go away again. I am leery of using Firestone, because of defective tire valves. Can you please look into this matter, and let me know the outcome ?

SERVICE BRAKES

In December 2024, I received recall notice C4B for my 2018 RAM 2500 truck. The notice concerned the brake hydraulic unit, which is susceptible to failure. At almost exactly the same time, I started to receive dashboard indicators to check the ABS, but it worked fine, I just assumed that the alert was related to the recall. The recall stated that parts were not available and that I would be contacted when there was a resolution. The notice did not indicate that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. Around [XXX], the brakes began making a grinding sound from both sides of the front wheels. I checked the pads, which seemed fine, and there was no scoring on either front rotor. Coincidentally, I got a flat on the left front tire the day after the grinding noise started. It was in the driveway and I was unable to put on the spare until July 12, 2025, the vehicle sat in the driveway with a flat tire until then. After swapping in the spare on the 12th, I planned to get the tire repaired at my local garage. I began pulling out of my driveway at a few miles per hour. I applied the brakes to maintain a slow speed, and the grinding worsened. As I reached the end of my 30 foot driveway and pulled into the street, I heard a clunk, which I also felt through the brake pedal. The pedal immediately went to the floor, and the vehicle rolled across the street before finally stopping. I was able to back into the driveway and park the vehicle without incident. I contacted my local RAM dealer, and they said there was nothing they could do. They gave me the number for Fiat Chrysler Customer Care. I called Fiat Chrysler Customer Care at 800-853-1403 and received case number[XXX]. They explained that a resolution was not yet available and advised me to call a dealer and ask for a "temporary fix". When I told them the dealer had already said they couldn’t do anything, and that the dealer told me to call them, they suggested that I try a different dealer. I have repeatedly asked the manufacturer and the dealership for a resolution to the antilock brake system failure on this vehicle. This issue has been on going for months and I have no resolution. This is Ram case management # 93024671. My last correspondence is as follows: Dear Stellantis Case Management Team, I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction and serious safety concerns regarding my vehicle, 2018 RAM 2500. This letter follows a delayed response to my initial inquiry about the safety of my vehicle and family, which I find unacceptable. Firstly, I request an immediate and definitive anticipated release date for the crucial part that is pending. The continued uncertainty around this essential component is directly impacting my peace of mind and the perceived safety of my vehicle, my family and the general public. Secondly, I demand a thorough explanation regarding the active fault code on a manufacturer safety device within my vehicle, which your company has inexplicably deemed "normal" and stated the truck is "able to be driven." This assessment is illogical and deeply concerning. If a safety device, such as the anti-lock braking system (ABS) or a similar critical component, registers a fault code, its integrity and intended function are compromised. My fundamental question remains unanswered: If a safety system with a fault code is considered "normal" and safe, then why are such sophisticated safety features like anti-lock brakes installed in the first place? If their compromised state is acceptable, why not simply remove the entire system? This reasoning fundamentally contradicts the purpose of vehicle safety design and creates an unacceptable risk for myself and my family. I gave them 7 business days to respond- there has been no movement.

I am two years into this failed unit and continue to be told by the dealer and manufacturer's customer service that the replacement part is not available and they do not have a delivery date for this part. In the last two years I have had (4) near collisions as a result of no anti-lock brakes and no traction control. Additionally the cruise control is not active when this part fails and as a long-distance driver this is fatiguing. The contant dinging of the warning light and bell is extremely irritating. ABS warning light and alarm come on while driving. If you have cruise control on, it then cancels the cruise control. After a few miles the warning light and alarm will go off, and works good for a few miles. Then the same thing happens - warning light and alarm come on again. This has been an ongoing problem, over a year. Went to dealer where purchased vehicle. Was told that Chrysler doesn't have a fix for this and doesn't have parts to fix it either. So there is nothing I can do. No parts to fix, dealer can't help, and meanwhile I have a faulty vehicle which is my main vehicle I drive. The ABS system is real handy here in Minnesota because of slippery roads in the winter with snow and ice.

There is a well know issue with potential failures in the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU), which can impact critical braking and stability systems, including ABS, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and traction control. Manufacturer Recall # - C4B NHTSA Recall # - 24V-896 There has been a recall on this issue since Nov of 2024 however, there has been no remedy offered yet on most models affected. I am experiencing this failure on my 2018 RAM 2500. It is noted in the recall that this failure is a safety issue and can cause the car to crash without prior warning. The remedy is know by RAM as they have issued it for certain chasis types. The Brake HCU must be replaced. I believe RAM's delay for a remedy is simply the cost and they are willfully putting lives in danger over financial impacts.

Why, after more than 5 months of a recall issuance, is there still not a "fix" issued to service dealers to make needed replacement of the Hydraulic Control Unit ABS (recall C4B)? Is anybody overseeing this matter to ensure timely resolve to this safety issue? I called my local Dodge dealer this morning to check on this after not hearing any further word about it despite registering my vehicle for recall notification with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, and learned that they have a bulk shipment of 16 HCU units in stock, but they do not have the vehicle computer programming (or something to that effect) to initiate fixing the matter. SERVICE BRAKES

In November 2024 through December 2025 our Ram started experiencing issues with the traction control and ABS lights coming on randomly and the vehicle not braking properly. Braking in corners is very sketchy and feels like you are going to run off the road. As December went on, all brake related lights stayed on and the truck feels like it has manual brakes from the 1970s. We received a Legal Notice explaining there is a class action settlement going on due to the ABS module and Brake HCU on our truck in late December 2024. We did not drive the truck long distances for the latter half of December due to the issues we were experiencing plus receiving the legal notice. A couple weeks into January 2025 we received a notice from FCA US LLC indicating there is a safety recall for the Brake HCU which affects the ABS and ESC systems. The notice said the vehicle may lose control and cause a crash without prior warning. Due to this second notice and the fact that our truck was having more issues with the braking systems and the lights were permanently on, we parked the truck mid January 2025 and have not driven it since. In early March we contacted the local dealership Morie's of Little Fall, MN as well as Chrylser/Mopar asking when our truck can be repaired and explained this is our daily driver and only safe vehicle we have for distances over 30 miles. Neither of them have been helpful and could not give us an answer. The service person at Morie's confirmed our vehicle is a part of the recall and the things we are experiencing would be related. He advised we do not drive the vehicle either. We are now mid April, THREE MONTHS WITHOUT A SAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE, and we have received no further communication from anyone relating to our truck. It is still parked and unsafe to drive. Action needs to be taken to remedy this situation. We are normally a two vehicle household down to one that can't be driven far and one that can't be driven at all.

At the end of last year, our fleet manager informed us of a recall on one of our vehicles (VIN: [XXX] ). The recall came out Nov 27, 2024 (24V-896). Dodge/Chrysler/Ram has known about this issue for a long time. I experienced the conditions outlined in the recall on my personal vehicle, before there was a recall issued. On August 10, 2022 the truck was presented to the dealership because the ABS system was failing. This was prior to the recall C4B/NHTSA 24V-896. I paid to have the system repaired. A recall was issued AFTER that date. I submitted a claim and was paid for my expenses by FCA. On March 3, 2025 the system notification system flashed warning the the ABS system was failing. I immediately took the truck to Mac Haik dealership and was advised that I could safely drive the truck until the following Monday when I could drop it off for diagnostic testing. The diagnostic testing revealed that the system was failing BUT FCA would not cover the full cost of the repairs. They would require "Customer Participation" payment of $546.00. I refused the repair because the repairs done August 2022, PRIOR to the recall was failing, so that told me that the parts utilized August 2022 were faulty and should be replaced under the terms of the recall and not require "Customer Participation of $546. I need your help to get FCA to replace and repair their faulty manufacturing.

What else can I do to get the issue fixed. Thank you [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I have been working via my recall letter. They have provided me with approval for a rental car, but so far I have been getting mixed information on the reimbursement and have not been reimbursed. They have not and will not provide me a date for repair. I use this truck for specific activities, and rental car options are not equivalent, and again I have not yet been reimbursed. I am reading my rights and resubmitting a complaint that the manufacturer has not remedied this situation. I need 100% reimbursement for my rental car, including taxes and non-optional fees, and my truck repaired, or purchased back. I will continue researching the legislation Photos showing my truck has this defect are attached. I need to have an equivalent, safe vehicle to use, or have money from this one to buy one that is.

I have contacted multiple dealership’s and have been told that a recall about the ABS HCU module was “completed” yet, Every dealership is unable to provide a place, mechanic or even a work order proving said repairs were completed. My ESC traction control light, Service Anti-lock Braking System, Service Electronic Braking System, and Service 4WD lights are now on. And I cannot get the issue repaired because of a mistake within the system. Joe Cooper Dodge in Shawnee, Oklahoma would not diagnose the vehicle due to the issue mistakenly being marked as “Completed”. Even after making a face to face appearance with vehicle present.

Approximately January 2022, several warning lights illuminated on my dash in conjuction with a warning chime. The warning lights and chime occurred intermittently. My truck was taken to the dealership with only 9710 miles on the odometer. A scan showed a code of C0020-01 ABS pump motor control general electrical failure. Approximately 5 months later a new part arrived and was installed on the truck. There were no issues until February 2025 when the dash warning lights and chime reappeard similar to the first occurrence. The odometer reading now at 16.5K. I have contacted the dealership that performed the original work and they informed me that there is currently no repair for this issue. Having no ABS braking system is a major safety issue, especially when pulling a large travel trailer.

The GPS on the Uconnect radio has failed and the map, compass, and clock do not work. This is a know problem on this radio. The radio loses the ICCID number and the STAR TSB says to replace the radio. The issue is when I travel somewhere and need a map, now I have to look at my phone while driving. This is just as bad as texting. The Ram customer care says the TSB for this issue covers other vehicles but not the RAM truck. The cost to replace the radio is very expensive and I cannot afford to replace it. RAM truck will not help me out. What can be done about this issue. Lots of RAM truck owners are experiencing this issue. The issue started when my truck has about 3900 miles on it. The dealer in the Wasilla AK location was not able to troubleshoot this issue because they were short staffed. I finally decided to take it to another dealer located in Anchorage about 50 miles away.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

There is a chronic problem with most Ram trucks, this issue isn't just related to one model of Ram trucks. The problem is when you go to fill-up your tank with gas, the fill neck continues to back up, which requires skill & a lot of patients just to fill your tank. And, this is also a major safety concern due to the high likely hood of an overflow of fuel & possible fire & explosion situation. After much research & being a professional aircraft mechanic, what I found to be the problem in most all cases is a defective ( FUEL TANK ROLLOVER VALVE). I took my truck to the dealer when it was under warranty & just a few a couple of months old for this exact problem. And, they told me there was nothing wrong? I now know the reason they told me this is because this fuel tank rollover valve is an integral part of the fuel tank & is expensive to change. With this extremely long history of failures with the (FUEL TANK ROLLOVER VALVE), I am totally convinced this should be a Recall item!

afety Recall V06 / NHTSA 19V-021 Drag Link - January 25, 2019 This so called fix is abhorrent! It calls for welding an adjustable part of the steering linkage rendering it non- adjustable when having the front end aligned in the future. Not to mention the effect of welding, potentially causing a problem with the integrity of the metal. The correct fix for this SAFETY issue is to REPLACE this steering linkage component (which is an option). No do a weld job on the steering linkage of all things! I am appalled that NHTSA approved such a thing. PLEASE revisit this issue and do the right thing. Require Chrysler (FCA US LLC) to REPLACE this defective part with the proper part. Note.... I am filing this complaint due to a GREAT safety concern with my vehicle. I am a law enforcement officer as well as a firefighter. I was notified that there was a safety recall on my vehicle. The recall was for the hydraulic control unit ("HCU"). One of the risks of said recall is the loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. After being notified about said recall, I notified several Ram Service locations in my area as well as the surrounding areas of where I reside. Each and every one of the service personnel or advisors I spoke with told me “there is not a remedy for the recall as of yet due to parts not being available.” When asked what I needed to do at that point, I was told to continue to drive my vehicle. Each dealership I spoke with stated they did not offer loaner vehicles, and did not know when parts would be available to fix said recall. That brings me to my complaint. On the morning of January 21, 2025 at approximately 05:47, I was driving my daughter to school then I was going to go to work there after. When I left my residence, I approached a stop sign to make a right turn. When I made the right turn, my front driver’s side wheel, locked up and pulled the vehicle hard to the left causing me to nearly strike a sheriff patrol officer and crash into a nearby residence. My daughter and I are severely shaken by this incident, and it could have been tremendously worse than it was. The Ram service departments should not be encouraging anyone to continue driving the vehicle models with this recall. It nearly killed my daughter and I. We have never experienced anything like this. This vehicle is not, and it has not been safe for operations for my family. Due to this incident I no longer have a drivable vehicle, and I still have to make the payments on said vehicle. I have looked into this problem and have found out there are two class action lawsuits in different states due to this problem. This is not a new issue.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

I'VE BEEN OPERATING MY TRUCK SEVERAL TIMES NOW WHERE THE CRUISE CONTROL HAS WENT OFF OR DISENGAGED WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING A SLIGHT PANIC FROM NOT KNOWING WHAT WAS GOING ON IN THAT MOMENT. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE TOWING, WHICH MADE THINGS EVEN WORSE. MY CRUISE CONTROL IS NO LONGER WORKING AND NOW I AM DEALING WITH THE RECALL WHERE THERE IS A "REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE". THIS WOULD BE RECALL MANUFACTURER NUMBER C4B AND NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 24V-896. I BELIEVE THIS RECALL TO BE TIED IN WITH MY CRUISE CONTROL ISSUE. NOW I HAVE A TRUCK THAT I HAVE NO OTHER OPTION THAN TO OPERATE AS MY DAILY DRIVER; WITH NO CRUISE CONTROL, ABS/ECS/TRACTION CONRTOL. I'VE CONTACTED SEVERAL DEALERS TO SEE IF THEY HAD ANY INSIGHT AND I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE SAME ANSWER ABOUT THERE NOT BEING A 'REMEDY'. I WANT IT TO BE KNOWN FOR LEGAL PURPOSES THAT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE OPERATING MY TRUCK AT THIS TIME BUT AGAIN I HAVE NO OTHER VEHICLE AT THIS TIME TO OPERATE. I HAVE AGAIN REQUESTED ASSISTANCE FROM SEVERAL DEALERS WHO HAV BEEN UNABLE TO HELP ME WITH THE RECALL LISTED ABOVE.

The Turbo Actuator on the Ram 2500's especially Gen 4 are known to have faulty Turbo Actuators on them. There is a huge supply issue with trying to get one for repair , I called every auto parts store and no one could get one due to manufacture constraints. Basically they told me to call the dealer . The dealer wanted $2,200 for the part , that is outrageous for a known faulty part , please look into this as there are thounsands of people who have made this repair.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

The Anti-Brake system ABS and ESC Electronic Stability Control alert keeps coming on and off on my dashboard. The cruise control will shut off by itself when this alert comes on. The alerts appear randomly and all various speeds. I took this to the dealership in October of 2022 for this issue and they replaced the anti-lock brake controller and bled the brakes. I had to pay $1000 out of pocket cost as my truck was no longer under warranty. The same issue has started occurring again in June of 2024. I changed out the wheel speed sensors at that time thinking perhaps that was causing the issue since I got the repair done in 2022 and I noticed that the issue occurs frequently, especially when I hit a bump in the road. However the issue still occurs and I see that this has been a known issue by Ram for some time and a RECALL for the HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT is due to be mailed out January 9, 2025.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Hydraulic brake unit failure. yes part is still available for inspection as it is still n the vehicle. I was driving to work at 21:30 hours on 1/1/2025 on a snow covered road. I gently applied the brakes and my truck went into a spin. I was going 25 mph. the abs unit failed and there was no pulsating in the brake pedal and rear brakes locked up sending the truck into an uncontrollable spin. my front left driver side of the vehicle then struck the jersey barrier and vehicle did continue to spin and then struck passenger rear side of the vehicle on the jersey barrier. currently has $17k in damages to the vehicle. I was not injured at the time but currently experiencing lower back pain. there was no lights or warnings on dash until immediately after the collision. I had the ABS HBU replaced a few months back and was told the new unit was part of the old stock and would most likely fail. which it did. unfortunately i am one of the people in this world who could not afford to not drive my vehicle as the truck was $70k new and i still am currently driving it due to not being able to afford to replace it of park it and rent a vehicle. The HBU has been a known issue in these trucks for the passed year and they just issued a recall on 12/08/2024. this problem was first noticed on 05/08/2024. was taken to dealer shortly afterward and was told that these are known to fail and currently no remedy to the issue. as of 01/07/2025 there is still no remedy or time on when parts are available for replacement.
