AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW:CURTAIN:INFLATOR

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Ram 3500, Ram 1500, 2016-2020 Ram 2500, and 2016 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis vehicles. The right and left side curtain air bag inflators may rupture due to a manufacturing defect.

Risk: An inflator rupture may result in sharp metal fragments striking occupants, resulting in injury.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE

The hydraulic control unit (HCU) may fail, which can cause the anti-lock brake (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), and traction control systems to fail.

Risk: A loss of anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, or traction control can increase the risk of a crash.

LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:TAILGATE:LATCH

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks equipped with an 8 foot bed and a power locking tailgate. Chrysler is also recalling all 2013-2014 and 2018 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks built before April 1, 2018 with a 6 or 8 foot bed and a power locking tailgate. On August 29, 2019 Chrysler expanded the recall to include an additional 693,128 model year 2013-2014 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks. The tailgate actuator limiter tab may fracture and cause the tailgate to unlatch and open while driving.

Risk: If the tailgate opens while the vehicle is being driven, cargo may fall out the vehicle and create a road hazard, increasing the risk of crash.

STEERING:LINKAGES:DRAG:LINK:CONNECTION

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Ram 3500 and 2014-2018 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab and Ram 2500 vehicles. The outboard steering linkage jam nut may loosen, allowing one end of the drag link to separate.

Risk: A drag link separation can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of crash.

STEERING:LINKAGES

Streetcar ORV LLC (Streetcar) is recalling certain American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) 3" Dualsport aftermarket suspension kits, part numbers N0436000 and N0436001, sold for installation on 2013-2018 RAM 2500 and 3500HD trucks. Improper installation and machining of the original equipment steering knuckle may weaken the joint between the steering drag link and knuckle.

Risk: The weakened connection may result in a fractured steering drag link, causing a loss of steering and increasing the risk of a crash.

STRUCTURE:BODY:TAILGATE

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2015-2017 RAM 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickup trucks equipped with a power locking tailgate and either a 5 foot, 7 inch or 6 foot, 4 inch bed. The tailgate actuator limiter tab may fracture and cause the tailgate to unlatch and open while driving.

Risk: If the tailgate latch releases and the tailgate opens while driving, cargo may fall out, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2018 RAM 1500, 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 Cab Chassis, and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, all equipped with a column shifter. Pushing the brake pedal for prolonged periods when the vehicle is running and in PARK may cause the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) pin to stick in the open position. With the pin in the open position, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK into any gear without pushing the brake pedal or having the key in the ignition.

Risk: Being able to shift the transmission without pushing the brake pedal and/or without a key in the ignition can increase the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in personal injury or a crash.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

Risk: If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:LEVER AND LINKAGE:COLUMN SHIFT

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2013-2017 RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 Cab Chassis, and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, equipped with Cummins 6.7L Turbo Diesel engines that have Concentric-brand water pumps without a vent hole. These water pumps may leak coolant.

Risk: The leaking water pump can increase the risk of an engine compartment fire.

WHEELS

Streetcar ORV LLC, dba American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) is recalling certain 2013-2017 RAM 2500 and 3500 heavy duty trucks, modified by AEV to be equipped with cast aluminum Katla 8.5" road wheels. The outer surface of the wheel may fracture, resulting in rapid air loss.

Risk: If the wheel fractures, a loss of vehicle control can occur, increasing the risk of a crash.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal to avoid crashing into another vehicle, the vehicle hesitated and failed to stop as intended. The traction control and ABS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the HECU and ABS pump motor were replaced at the owner's expense; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic, where the HECU and ABS were replaced. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.

STEERING

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the local dealer for the recall repair under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering). The vehicle was repaired; however, the drag link nut was welded, and the vehicle was unable to be aligned. The contact called the local dealer and was informed that the weld needed to be cut, the vehicle aligned, and then the drag link nut welded again. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the local dealer for assistance. The contact was informed about the reimbursement process for the repair. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the traction control warning light flashed on the instrument panel. After an inspection, the contact was informed that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 117,569.

The contact stated that the ABS and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) warning lights illuminated and alarmed the passengers inside the vehicle. These warnings began on my truck in 2021 when it only had 12,000 miles. These intermittent warning lights and audible “dinging” still persist today at 22,000 miles. On 2/8/2025, I received notification of Recall #C4B (finally) as a result of the class action lawsuit and was pleased to see this development. To date, I, like many Ram owners are still awaiting parts to become available to have them replaced per the recall and am requesting that the NHTSA step in to assist as we all have essentially unsafe trucks on US highways. I believe this should be a priority, given the fact that owners of 1500, 2500 and 3500 trucks often own them to tow trailers (like myself) which leads to additional unsafe conditions on the road. It’s unacceptable to allow FCA US LLC to continue to delay addressing this recall.

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 MPH, the ABS and ESC warning lights illuminated with several other unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was driven back to the residence. The contact had not taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic or a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

ENGINE

It is a known issue that 2017 ram 2500 diesels experience turbo or actuator failures at low mileage costing upwards of 8-10000 dollars in repairs. My ram only has 61000 miles and due to exhaust fluid requirements etc, premature failure is common. Owners should be able to extend the warranty to 15 years as Chrysler has known this issue and has failed to address it. The code is in the attached screenshot.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). The local dealer was contacted; however, the contact was informed that parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The manufacturer was contacted about parts availability for the recall repair. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH with snow on the ground, while depressing the brake pedal the vehicle slid to a stop. There was no warning light illuminated. On another occasion while driving 25 MPH while it was raining, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle slid while coming to a stop. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE (EGR VALVE)

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate as intended while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The “Low Coolant” warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway. While inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware that the vehicle was experiencing excessive coolant consumption. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the EGR system had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The vehicle remained at the local dealer for further tests. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

I received notification of Manufacture Recall C4B (NHTSA Recall 24V-896) in Nov 2024. My intermittent ABS light on my dashboard is continuously going on and off, indicating a problem with the anti-lock braking system since 2024. This prevents the setting of cruise control as well as a constant alarm sound. I feel this directly correlates from the brake hydraulic control unit HCU susceptible to failure or malfunction as stated in the recall and feel unsafe to drive my vehicle due to the potential risk of loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control that may cause my vehicle to crash without prior warning. I have attempted to remedy this situation by contacting the Washington, NC and Greenville, NC Dodge dealerships and Mopar Parts Support (800-765-7732) directly for immediate repair only to be told that they do have my information on a ticket but do not have a part to fix it, but in the same breath tell me I can buy an after market part at my local auto parts store at my cost and have the dealership install at my cost to resolve my issue. This is unacceptable, as I now have a financed vehicle that I purchased from a Dealership and I am unable to confidently drive due to safety concerns that my life and others on the roadway may be in danger. In addition I am continually paying my monthly finance payment, auto insurance , yearly taxes/tags since the recall November 2024 and it is now August 2025 and I have an unsafe undriveable vehicle! I am seeking your assistance to demand the manufacture fix the problem by repairing it, replacing it or repurchasing the vehicle.

Truck has ABS and Traction control lights kicking on and off intermittently. Cruise control will kick off if engaged and won’t re engage until the lights go back off. Concerned this is gonna be a major safety concern hauling a 10,000 lb trailer

He reset the computer and said to bring the vehicle back if it comes on again. About 1 month later it reappeared. The Ram service said the turbo charger actuator needed replacing (the complete turbocharger). They said the failure could result in a total loss of power or engine failure. I tow a 10,000 lb trailer and an engine failure on the road could result in an accident or injury due to no power from the engine. The part can be viewed for inspection.

SERVICE BRAKES

I was notified about a recall (NHTSA 24V-896) with the HCU being susceptible to failure around 1-15-2025. They have yet to fix the problem. They claim they are still working on a fix. I had the original replaced at 7336 miles and now the second unit is sending "check ABS system" lights. It has been 6 months of "chimes and warning lights" and they still claim they do not have a fix yet. Are they even trying to fix the problem or trying to figure out a way to get out of doing it. I would like to NHTSA to look into this matter and urge RAM to fix their manufacturing problem.

I will be driving down the road about 50-60mph and it will shift to 4th gear and not come out of 4th gear until stopped and shut off and restarted. I recently heard about the recall when I took my truck to the dealership that is close to where I am located at the moment. I decided to research about the recall and what could happen if that part fails. It showed me that if the recalled part fails, it will cause all the problems that is going on with my truck. I am a full-time rv'er and trailer the country pulling an rv everywhere I go. I am stuck where I am until my truck can be fixed of these problems. This is a major setback and a major financial burden to have to stay where I am until it is fixed. I am near Thomson, GA where I am waiting to have my vehicle fixed.

When I have gone to slow down and try to stop, the vehicle has slide forward a fee times. I thought it was a little weird, but didn't think to much of it. After a while, my transmission started acting up as well. I will be driving down the road about 50-60mph and it will shift to 4th gear and not come out of 4th gear until stopped and shut off and restarted. I recently heard about the recall when I took my truck to the dealership that is close to where I am located at the moment. I decided to research about the recall and what could happen if that part fails. It showed me that if the recalled part fails, it will cause all the problems that is going on with my truck. POWER TRAIN

ENGINE

I got a p2609 code when the check engine light came on. After researching the code it has been determined it is the bolt holding the grid heater in place has deteriorated and now my engine needs to be dismantled to repair the problem. These repairs are roughly $3000.00. Ram has been aware of this problem in their vehicles since 2007 models and it is still a problem they are not being held responsible for.

My HCU has failed resulting in loss of traction & locked steering wheel. The truck is not safely operable at this time and dealerships have repeatedly told me they can’t fix it. This has been going on for 2 months.

ENGINE

The heater grid bolt busted loose ultimately resulting in total engine failure. The bolt went through the intake, beat cylinder 6 all to heck resulting in the piston going through the block and wrapping around the cam shaft. Over $20,000 in repairs later and I have a working truck again. This is a known issue. My mechanic has fixed several of these in the last year. If you own one of these trucks, it is only a matter of time before it happens to you.

Today I was attempting to come to a complete stop as the light was turning yellow but my brakes were hard to push down and eventually I ending up passing the red light and went gliding through the street. Thankfully no vehicles were passing or oncoming. It was a very horrible experience to have, I no longer trust the car to go on freeways as I am terrified to crash.

SERVICE BRAKES

As I was driving back home from the airport on [XXX] both front brakes started smoking and my vehicle became noticeably difficult to drive. At the same time an ABS brake warning light came on as well. Although the vehicle was more difficult to drive I drove slower to prevent a crash & arrive home. On [XXX] I brought my vehicle into Midas Sarasota where they diagnosed a failed brake hydraulic control unit (HCU,ABS pump). In addition Midas stated that the failed hydraulic control unit damaged both front calipers causing them to stick which is why my brakes were smoking. Midas also stated that the failed HCU caused damage to the mesh in my brake lines and that they had to be replaced. As a result of the failed HCU Midas had to install a new HCU, install new front calipers on both sides, and install new brake lines for a total cost of $1600.00 A few weeks after I had my vehicle repaired for this issue I received a recall letter from Stellantis for this issue. Since I had already had the repair completed I submitted a copy of my repair order and proof of payment to www.fcarecallreimbursement.com, Reference number [XXX]. A customer service agent - Ronald emailed me several times and reviewed by reimbursement request and stated that my claim was approved for $1342 for reimbursement. I questioned Ronald about why Stellantis would not pay for the full amount of $1600 because both front calipers and my brake lines were damaged as a result of the failed HCU unit. Ronald simply stated in his email that he could only approve repair charged for the failed HCU. I explained to Ronald that the HCU failure caused irreparable damage to both front calipers and to the mesh in my brake lines as shown on page 2 of the Midas Repair order that I sent him. I explained to Ron that if Stellantis has a part recall that causes damage to other vehicle components then Stellantis is responsible for the costs of all repairs, NOT just the recalled part. This is a terrible design and expensive fix. I am 3rd person to have this problem recently amongst my friends. Metal in side motors should not be melting and or rotting into cylinders. Please see attached pictures showing melted bolt and shards in the intake area. If this is a part that needs maintenance it should be listed in the scheduled maintenance somewhere

Can not get the dealership to repair the recall c7b. Stating the parts are not available. Been several months waiting on parts and scared to drive my truck due to the danger?

My vehicle is under the Manufacturer Recall # CB4 (NHTSA Recall #24V-896) On January 1, 2025, while driving on a rural road, all the warning lights for the ABS and Traction Control systems lit up and I lost all braking power. I pushed the brake pedal to the floor, no brakes. I veered off into a field to stop the vehicle. Turned the vehicle off and back on. Still no brakes. I started to drive the vehicle to my house (3 miles away) and after a right turn the brakes locked. The Ram Recall center apologized for the incident and said I would be authorized a rental and gave me a case # but that there was no remedy for my vehicle. My 3rd call to Ram, the representative said they aren't sure if a rental is authorized, and that Ram would not cover towing my vehicle to the dealership even though the brakes are locked and cannot move. After 3 weeks of waiting, I had the vehicle towed to a local mechanic who was able to get the vehicle back on the road. I am still waiting for a remedy for my vehicle.

I was driving when m ABS system errored failure as I was preparing to haul horses. I completely lost traction behind. Accordingly my truck is now completely unsafe.

ENGINE

Lost diesel exhaust brake transmission down shifts trying to slow vehicle bolt in cold start heater plate dropped into engine via intake manifold causing extensive internal damage

AIR BAGS

I was entering an intersection on a green light when a car from the cross street entered from the right running a red light. I hit them at approximately 35-40 mph in the driver side doors. My airbags failed to deploy. The cab on my truck was shifted more than 2 inches off the frame and was a total loss since the original repair estimate was more than $43,000. The reporting firemen and paramedics and the repair shop all could not believe that the air bags did not deploy. My passenger and I are still suffering from injuries sustained in the accident, which are likely much worse because of the failure of the airbags to deploy.

SERVICE BRAKES

I’m concerned, as I expect many owners of 17-18 Ram 2500 are. Feb 23, while returning to my home, I lost control of my vehicle after breaking before entering left to right turn that I had been thru thousands of times. Less than 1 mile from my residence I applied breaks gently prior to entering turn. After applying brakes, they locked up and I was unable to control my truck. I slid sideways a few hundred feet and made contact with a utility pole. I have never felt so helpless while driving. This caused significant damage to my vehicle. Never had any ABS problems prior to this event. After vehicle was repaired (well over $20,000) I had problems with ABS - Cruise Control that repair shop could not fix. They sent to tire shop who also could not repair. Was advised to take to dealer. Vehicle was repaired with new EBS pump (which was part of current recall). I paid $100.00 deductible for repair. I wondered why dealership reimbursed my $100.00. Now I know why, received recall in mail a few days ago for repair of this part. I think Fiat/Chrysler should be on the hook for my insurance deductible. Plus not having my truck for over 4 months. I’m also gonna lose money upon trade due to no fault of my own.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM)

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 25-30 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal traveled down to the floorboard, but the vehicle failed to respond as needed, causing the braking distance to become extended. The ABS and the traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Brake shift interlock clamp around column gear shift broke. There was a recall T-79 but it’s says our vehicle is not included. As we bought this vehicle used we are guessing it was repaired? But repaired with another defective part.
