VISIBILITY/WIPER

Multiple times when placing the vehicle in reverse, review view camera screen shows distorted view or 'camera system not available' and blue screen. Have taken to dealer regarding issue multiple times, issue unresolved by component replacement in kind. Have researched online, found this is a common problem with Ram DS vehicles. Have tried online "tricks" to repair - they work temporarily then problem returns. Have been dealing with these issues for several years, very troublesome especially since I have small children so rear visibility when backing is critical.

Issue started with a "service shifter" warning at just shy of 3,000 miles, in January of 2019, and upon speaking to the dealership, they advised to shut off the truck and restart which cleared the "service shifter" warning. They said it was a glitch and that should remedy the issue. This issue became more frequent later (after manufacturers warranty ran out) It started leaving me stranded, sometimes for hours around 45,000 miles. Later, I suffered a multisystem failure and warnings that the truck was not in park, the shifter would not turn, truck would not start, and multiple other warnings. We were able to replace the battery which we thought had fixed the issue, but two weeks later it has done it again, and this time the battery disconnection for a period of days has not fixed the issue. I still owe two years on this truck and it has been a lemon. I have taken it to two dealerships, neither can fix my issue. I have done countless hours of research to address the issue. I am paying payments and do not have anything to drive. I need help with this issue. I have maintained the vehicle and have only put close to 60,000 miles on the truck. There is no logical reason I should be dealing with this many major issues that even the dealership can not seem to remedy. With such low miles and at only 7 years old, these issues should not be considered "routine maintenance" at the point in the truck's life. I believe this issue needs to be investigated, as I know many RAM owners who are facing the same issues that I am having, with no answers as of yet. I have been watching for recalls or statements from RAM, but nothing yet. Thank you for your time and careful considerations. I look forward to seeing a solution to my issues. Until then, I'll be stranded in Virginia, paying for transportation that can't be fixed.

The issue is the MGU went out on truck. Dealer has no idea when a replacement will be available. Was told over 4100 are backordered. This appears to be an ongoing problem with these trucks for several months now. They blame supply chain issues. I feel it's on the manufacturer to readily have replacement parts. Clearly they didn't do their due diligence on this part. Something should be done to this company for the way they are treating customers. It's my only vehicle to get to and from work. Please put pressure on this company to get the necessary part.

The eTorq generator stopped working and the engine shutdown on the highway. I had to get a tow to the shop as the vehicle is not usable and the engine will not start. Furthermore, this part is unavailable with no-ETA as it is on nationwide backorder. I have been waiting for over a month I was told over 13000 of these are on backorder for customers around the country. I have also read many posts of others waiting months for the part. There is obviously a systemic problem with the part and an issue with replacements. It does appear the original part was superseded by a different version. Please help!

The contact's husband owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while entering a parking space at less than 5 MPH, the vehicle independently accelerated forward. The vehicle accelerated over the concrete parking block and crashed into the grocery store's front window. The contact stated that the incident happened so quickly that they were uncertain if any warning lights appeared on the instrument panel or if the brake pedal was depressed during the acceleration. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact and her husband were taken to the hospital by ambulance; however, neither suffered any injuries. No other injuries were reported as a result of the incident. A police report was filed. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent tow yard before the contact's insurance had the vehicle towed to an independent body repair shop. The contact stated that the store's large front glass was shattered as a result of the accident, but was unaware if any other property was damaged. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had yet been notified of the failure. Upon investigation, the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V653000(Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control) and NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V407000 (Air Bags, Seat Belts); both recalls were previously serviced on the vehicle. The vehicle remained in the possession of the independent body shop and had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

EGR cooler has failed and leaked on manifold after 2 EGR bypass cooler replacements. Went online to see when original EGR recall was completed and online data base reported complete Dec 29, 2019. That particular part for the VB1 was not even ready until March-May 2020. There are also no service records or work order for that recall being completed whatsoever. The EGR cooler cracked on the manifold while driving with my kids and almost or did ignite as the whole truck was pouring smoke from behind and underneath. The dealer did inspect and confirm the damage and has been in touch with the manufacturer, acknowledges that there are no service records or work orders for that recall. Dealer acknowledged that no part was available. Manufacturer takes no responsibility but did state in e-mail they believe recall was claimed to have been done in transit during a stop sale.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

On August 20, 2025, my 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie was taken to the dealership for diagnosis after showing the warning “Electronic Stability Control system needs service,” along with a flashing check engine light. The dealer pulled diagnostic codes and documented U0403-00 (“Invalid Data Received from Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module A”) as well as other communication errors. This is the same defect covered under Stellantis’ recall for ABS module failures that disable stability control in 2019 Ram trucks. However, my VIN is not included in the recall. A few years ago, the truck experienced the same warning, but the problem cleared on its own. Now it has returned and is documented with codes in the dealer system. The dealership acknowledged other recalls were already completed on my VIN, but refuses to perform this safety recall since my VIN is not listed. ABS and ESC failures are not the result of consumer behavior. This is a faulty system created at the time of vehicle manufacturing. There has been no accident or outside damage, and nothing the owner could have done to avoid this issue. The defect lies with the vehicle’s design and creates a serious safety risk for the driver and others on the road. I believe my VIN was excluded from the recall in error and request that NHTSA investigate and expand the coverage.

Safety Complaint – Power Steering Failure on 2019 RAM 1500 Big Horn 4x4 Not Covered by Recall VB8 To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this complaint regarding a recurring safety issue with my 2019 Dodge RAM 1500 Big Horn 4x4. The vehicle experiences intermittent power steering loss, particularly during colder temperatures. This issue matches the symptoms described in Safety Recall VB8 / NHTSA 19V-812, which affects certain 2019 RAM 1500 vehicles due to contamination in the EPS gear. However, my VIN is not currently included in the recall, despite the alignment in model, year, and issue. I have already incurred diagnostic costs and have a follow-up appointment scheduled at a RAM dealership to further investigate the issue. I am requesting that NHTSA: - Review my case and consider expanding the scope of Recall VB8 to include additional affected VINs - Investigate whether similar complaints have been filed for vehicles outside the current recall range - Ensure Chrysler/RAM is addressing this issue consistently and fairly across all impacted vehicles Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am happy to provide additional documentation upon request. The dealership told me they have multiple people waiting for the same part and that the MGU is faulty and fails on these trucks. My wife was taking my kids to school and they were stranded on the side of the road because my truck give a battery low warning and then died. It should be illegal for ram to continue to sell these vehicles and refuse to fix them. I can’t even buy a used part to fix it because the dealership won’t program and install a used part.

A message would appear on the dash "Shift to P then Desired Gear." The problem would not be fixed until the vehicle was put in park, then back into drive. I took the vehicle to RAM and they could not replicate the issue, but it would happen to me regularly (1-2 times a month at random). I told this to RAM Dealership and RAM Cares, but nobody seemed bothered that it could get people killed. The problem did not seem to get fixed until I took apart the throttle body and cleaned it out by hand. Since then, I had not had an issue.

At about 77k miles, I started hearing a humming noise from the engine when I would accelerate and then decelerate. Upon inspection and confirmation from Ram dealership, the Engine Generator Kit (alternator) appeared to have a bad bearing and needed to be replaced. I initially agreed to the replacement until I was told that the part needed is on backorder and that there were roughly 4k orders placed ahead of mine nationally. This means I have no way of fixing this issue using an original MOPAR part. I was told I can agree to pay for the item to get the order placed and then wait until it comes in with no timeframe given other than it could be weeks or months. I am now having to drive around in a vehicle that could potentially breakdown at any time and thus leaving me with no vehicle. I do not have any warning lights on the dash but it seems like I am driving a ticking timebomb.

Motor Generator Unit failed at 89,000 miles. Three dealerships that I spoke with having waiting lists of customers for this repair. Backlog on part is up to four months. It is evident that this is specifically problematic to the models equipped with the 5.7-liter V8 Hemi MDS VVT eTorque Engine. Federal warranty expires at 80,000/ 8 years. Based upon the number of vehicles effected and specific to eTorque engines, seems like a recall (or reimbursement) is warranted in this case.

The dangerous behavior occurs only when the truck is in four-wheel-drive. Two behaviors: One:Low range. Ascending up a steep dirt road without warning truck shifted into neutral and got stuck there. Shifting into reverse drive or park did not take it out of neutral. The steering and brakes worked. The four-wheel-drive, low and four-wheel-drive high indicatorlights were blinking simultaneously. This behavior persisted after turning the truck off and on again. I had to back down a switchback dirt road. Eventually, I thought to disconnect the battery and reconnect it which corrected the behavior and put the truck back to normal. I no longer use this truck in four-wheel-drive low. I am having the truck looked at by a second dealer service department to try to diagnose this problem. 2: the second abnormal, behavior occurs in four-wheel-drive low, first gear heading downhill using the engine compression for braking. The truck will without warning shift into 2 Wheel Dr. high range, and the four-wheel-drive, low and four-wheel-drive high indicator lights blink simultaneously. This behavior is corrected by turning the engine off and then on again.

As we were driving and pulling a 32 foot trailer battery died, luckily we were able to stop safety and charge battery and bought a new battery to get us home. The Mopar 48‑volt motor‑generator unit (MGU)—often referred to as the “eTorque alternator died. There is a back order of currently 4800+ and months to get this part in order to fix a truck that doesn’t start without it. How is this not a recall? This is highly unsafe if we hadn’t been watching the battery voltage as we were driving and noticed it was getting dangerously low potentially causing a huge pile up accident on the freeway with our trailer.

Engine failure with no warning — cylinder #7 collapsed, pushrod broke, and exhaust manifold cracked at only 68,000 miles. This is a known issue with 5.7L HEMI engines, particularly involving defective lifters and camshafts. These failures can result in total engine loss, potential stalling at speed, or permanent engine damage. I am reporting this due to concern over the growing number of similar failures in Ram trucks with low mileage, which may indicate a design defect. FCA/Stellantis has denied goodwill assistance despite low mileage and well-documented cases. This could be a safety issue if engine failure occurs while driving. Please investigate.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The alternator failed suddenly and without warning, leaving me stranded on a road with no shoulder during 91°F heat. The vehicle lost electrical power and required a tow. This is not just a standard alternator,it’s a component of the eTorque mild hybrid system and requires both a specific part and a dealer reprogramming (flash) to function. After the incident, I learned that the part is on national backorder with more than 4,000 vehicles waiting, according to multiple dealers and service centers I’ve contacted. Ram has provided no reliable ETA, loaner, or support option. This is a critical failure that completely disables the vehicle and creates a dangerous safety situation, especially in high temperatures or in areas where pulling over safely is not an option. I was without air conditioning or any form of engine power while exposed to traffic and heat, and had to wait a prolonged time for a tow. This appears to be a widespread issue with Ram eTorque vehicles, particularly the alternator/starter-generator assembly. The required flash must be performed by a dealer, so no aftermarket or independent fix is currently viable. Ram has not issued a recall or taken accountability for this dangerous and increasingly common failure. I am filing this report to request investigation into the failure rate of these eTorque alternators, the supply chain delays that make timely repairs impossible, and the complete lack of contingency support or guidance for affected customers.

- I like to report that my Ram 1500 Classic has been having issues with steering since March 2025. I had around at that time 78k miles on the truck give or take. I took the truck to the dealership where I purchased it (Brown Daub Easton PA). They claimed that everything I told them about the Truck was perfectly fine and they had multiple people test drive the truck with no issues. I explained that the steering would be very hard to execute a turn left or right and at times it would even feel like it "skipped" in the steering. I can tell I have slightly new wheels at the time of this issue. The only thing they noted was my rear passenger tire tread was a little more worn compared to the other three. I took the Truck home very disappointed and the problem actually seem like it went away for a few days. Then the problem began to show again and the turning aspect is becoming more difficult. Recently while driving on the interstate my steering was affected just changing lanes at 65 mph where the need to use both hands was troublesome. The truck itself had jolt where I never encountered. - - I believe that driving this truck is very dangerous and taken it to the dealership where I have a warranty appears to be impossible to identify the root issue. - I have only taken it to the dealership once and its scheduled to go back to the home dealership on the 12th of this month for another check. -There are no warning lamps/messages. Problem recently started in March 2025 at or above 78k miles. - I believe that the issue could be related to the power steering motor or the Electronic power steering noted on this site. The examples or causes fall very close to the same feeling I get while driving this vehicle. This is my first experience where I have noticed a loss of power steering in driving 28 years of driving various pick up trucks be my own, military grade trucks, and work trucks. Thank you.

I looked around under the rest of the truck and there really wasn't any corrosion anywhere else that I could see. I looked online and found out that this is a huge issue with these types of vehicles and the corrosion will get so bad that the vehicle will weep oil which puts the engine at risk but is also horrible for the environment. I took the truck to the dealership and the service manager explained to me that they are well aware of the problem but Ram refuses to do anything about it and claims it's caused by environmental factors. Funny how those environmental factors only affect the oil pan and nothing else on the truck. LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? -The issue involved the truck’s parking and collision avoidance systems, which suddenly shut off. A warning message appeared on the dashboard stating "Service Shifter." This issue may be related to the electronic shifter module or associated control systems. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -The sudden deactivation of both the parking and collision systems while the vehicle was in motion created a serious safety hazard. Without collision avoidance functionality and the ability to securely park the vehicle, there was increased risk of unintentional vehicle movement or inability to avoid obstacles, which could have led to a crash or injury. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? -Yes, the truck was taken to an authorized dealer for assessment, and the issue was confirmed. Diagnostic tests found trouble codes starting with "U", which typically indicate a communication or control module fault within the vehicle’s network. The codes provided from the dealer are U0159, U0140, U0100, U0137, U0102, U10121, and U0101. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? -The issue has been inspected and documented by the dealership. There is no indication that police or insurance representatives have inspected it at this time, but the incident and diagnostics are recorded in the dealer’s service records. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? -Yes, a warning message "Service Shifter" appeared on the dashboard. This message coincided with the shutdown of the parking and collision systems. These symptoms appeared suddenly and without prior warning during regular vehicle operation.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Driving 60mph in 8th gear while raining, 40 deg F, in Minnesota. The truck shut off (I did not press the Start/Stop button) and dash said "Vehicle Not in Park." Went to pull over, put on turn signals, but they didn't work (it acted like the vehicle was completely shut off but was still rolling at 50+ mph in 8th gear - there was no indication on the dash that showed green light indicating turn signal was working). I suspect brake lights also did not work at this time, but cannot confirm because I couldn't see them. I pulled over to shoulder, slowed to a stop, and put vehicle into Park manually. Pressed Stop/Start button and vehicle started. No codes were thrown. Drove another 2-3 miles and similar issue happened again. Display flashed on and off (then completely turned off) when coming to a stop this time. Vehicle stayed running but again said "Vehicle Not in Park" on dash. No other indication on dash (no warning lights). Drove vehicle back to dealership to get inspected. Similar issue occurred 4 more times on the 12 mile drive to dealership. When I got the vehicle into the service shop, I put it into Park, then pressed the Start/Stop button, but the truck would not shut off. I left the vehicle with the dealer and they are currently diagnosing the issue. 105,000 miles on vehicle. First time this issue has ever occurred on the Ram since I bought it used with 67,000 miles on it. Scared the heck out of me - I had cars swerve around me as I pulled off to the shoulder without any indication - no brake lights (I assume), no turn signals. Very scary. I am worried about driving my family (wife and 2 young children) in this vehicle. What has scared me even more is I looked up this issue online and I have found 100s of examples in the forums of similar (or exactly the same) issue happening to them! I have had all recalls completed on my truck and keep meticulous care of it. I am an engineer and understand technical details well - this electrical issue scares me. Not safe.

as of 3/25/2025, Started having sudden intermittent power steering loss along with, 'service power steering' code. I haven't been able to use the truck due to being unsafe. I am on call all month and will have to tow it to dealership afterwards. I see that there was a recall way back in 2019. It's nice that you want to know if a dealership can confirm the problem. So far, when I tack this trjck or my last truck in they can't seem to figure it out until the warranty expires.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

I took my truck into my mechanic for a loud whining noise coming from my engine bay. I was told my alternator is going out. I have a 2019 ram 1500 5.7L v8 with the e-torque system. Part number 68438054AB or 68623194AB. This part you can literally buy from no one. Not a dodge dealership, mopar or any other website. There is about 1 listing I saw for a used one which was $1000 over what a new one would cost. If this part goes out I’m fully unable to use my truck which has 56,000 miles and is my only means of transportation. I have absolutely no chance of buying this part from anyone or anywhere at this current time. I can barely afford to buy the part even if it was available and I surely can’t afford to pay for a rental car or another car in the time it would take for this part to become available (if it does). From reading online and hearing what the Dodge dealership told me there is about 4,000+ people waiting for this same part. I still am paying a loan for this truck and I am at a loss on what to do. Insurance won’t do anything, dealership won’t do anything, and my bank won’t do anything.

I am filing a formal complaint regarding a critical safety defect in my 2019 Ram eTorque, which posed a severe risk to my pregnant wife while she was driving. The vehicle’s battery unexpectedly failed, resulting in a complete loss of power steering and all safety functions, creating a hazardous situation in the middle of the roadway that could have led to a serious accident. This defect is not isolated. My truck has been at the repair shop for over two months, as the necessary replacement part is on backorder due to over 3,000 reported vehicles affected by the same issue. The widespread nature of this defect and the unavailability of parts amplify the risk of injury or fatality to drivers and passengers. I urge the Safety Advisory Board to investigate this defect urgently, focusing on the significant safety implications and the high number of affected vehicles. Immediate action is needed to prevent potential harm.

The star connector on the CAN C BUS will start to have communication problems with the all the systems on that star connector approximately after about 15 to 20 min after driving. Systems that were constantly going in and out were the front and rear parking sense, ABS and traction would go out. Service shifter message, caused the transmission to up shift while driving at a constant speed. After getting a check engine light, I hooked up my code reader and had a code for the park sense control module. I proceeded to replace that module and was unable to get the code to go away. Upon further investigation, I found a history code for the CAN C BUS PERFORMANCE code and researched on this topic in the forums with other owners of the same truck and looked for any maintenance for this topic as well. These owners would have the same problem that my truck was having and the dealerships were unable to pin point the malfunction of all these systems. I did find video of an owner that had the same problem as my truck and he was able to pin point the problem down to the star connectors. The star connector would slowly over time while the vehicle was on would slowly take on more power then it was supposed to and overload the star connector. Upon learning about the star connectors, I learned how to replace them and after I replaced the star connectors for the exterior and interior components of the vehicle, everything went back to normal. On multiple occasions after 10-15 minutes of driving at various speeds, while turning either way, or while driving straight, a “Power Steering Unavailable” warning comes on the dash and steering stiffens and becomes almost immovable. Very similar to NHTSA Recall Number: 19V-016. On one occasion PS faulted while starting into a curve at 50 mph. Steering wheel hardened and nearly caused vehicle to straighten out the curve with me, my wife, and my [XXX] daughter inside. After researching it seems this is wide spread issue that RAM has not addressed passed previous recall. Dealer was called to check for recall but is not covered under current recall. I will be bring it to dealership as soon as possible to officially confirm the issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Windshield wipers starting going on their own, all messages popped up on dashboard, and the vehicle started gradually slowing down posing a safety issue. Speedometer was going from 0-50 mph back and forth and steering wheel was hard to maneuver. I was able to get off the freeway and into the frontage safely. However, turning the vehicle was a hassle and even more so when I tried to drive in to a parking lot to get to a safer area since the truck wouldn’t respond to the gas pedal nor would the steering wheel cooperate. If I wanted to turn it left it jerked on its own to the right. Vehicle shut off on its own and wouldn’t power back on after that. Tow truck had to be called and was told this was a cause of rfh by rear window(shortage caused by leak on third brake light) this happened after it being repaired. Truck was in shop for over two weeks. Today I’m being told it is the rack and pinion system causing this shortage and issue. Awaiting repair quote for that

The “alternator” is failing on these pickups. The Dodge Mopar says it’s back ordered by 5,000 units of these! 5,000! And have no date to tell you when it will be available . As I scour the internet, 1000’s of people are stranded with almost new pickups , with no way to fix them. We are one of them. I don’t understand how Dodge can be trusted.

My 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie truck started throwing a check engine light recently while also occasionally being put into "battery saver mode". I went to the dealership to have it checked. The issue is a malfunctioning alternator / generator unit (Mobile Generator Unit) which is a key component of the eTorque system. The dealer said the repair protocol is to replace the MGU. The problem is that there are literally no parts available in the US with no known ETA. The best approximation is 6 months or more. The waitlist is literally more than 3,000 customers. There is clearly a problem with the part and it seems like they aren't currently producing any more which is growing the problem. So, I'm now left with a very bad option - continue driving the truck and risk the MGU failing at any point and causing a serious accident. I have been in a vehicle on the highway when the alternator fails and all electrical systems shut down. It was terrifying for me and my family and we were very fortunate to avoid injury. My other options are to either not drive the truck and wait (not a viable option) or be forced to sell the truck which I would rather not do since it's fully paid off and should go many more miles.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Engine failure after fuel pump recall replacement(37,500 miles). My fuel pump had a mandatory recall. I drove my truck in and everything was running perfect. I drove the truck less than 100 miles after the fuel pump replacement recal and it started to make nocking sounds and the gas was lagging , not accelerating normal. The gears were not shifting normal but rather jerking in and out of gears at different RPM's. I was on the highway in CA and I was scared that I was gonna hit someone or be hit myself from the gas lag and jerky shifting. I drove back into the dealership again 100 miles after the fuel pump replacement. I was charged $288 dollars for them to tell me I needed a new engine. No engine lights or warnings. Now 100 miles after the fuel pump replacement and 2 months out of warranty they wanted $22,000 to replace my engine. They said they would do me a favor and replace it for $4300 since I was 2 months and 1500 miles past my warranty. Now I'm left without a truck 100 miles after the fuel pump replacement. I couldn't afford a rental car and they didn't have any for me to rent at the dealership. I was soon fired from my job as I was scrambling to find $4300 just laying around. Now I don't have a job and $4300 plus $288 in debt on my credit card at 22% interest. These same fuel pumps have already had class action lawsuits on them for earlier models. Metal shavings were being produced within the fuel system. The other problem being reported was over heating from the connector rod to the crankshaft. The connection was overheating and causing bearings at the connection to fail. Once that happens 1 or more cylinders stop pumping correctly and the engine blows. So there are 2 possibilities for this engine failure. I am certain that my car was damaged by 1 or both of these poor engineering mistakes. They could have hurt or killed someone and they are hiding the real problem until they get caught.

Had it diagnosed to find it has a bad sensor in the seatbelt pretensioner that is stopping the passenger airbag from deploying and the seatbelt from locking. This is a major problem and should be a recall as I had it fixed and paid almost $600 to have replaced. I've called Stelantis and they offer no help as if it becomes a recall in the future they will possibly reimburse me they say.

I have called At&t multiple times and even went into one of their stores, they have run my vin, the IMEI # and the ICCID number and can find nothing on their end and say there is not an account. Yet, it is connecting to the At&t network. I have run speed tests that prove this and connected with both my phone and laptop. I took it into the dealership and they could not help either, just stated that is is weird. At&t has forwarded me to multiple people including stellantis, siruis gaurdian, and ram connect all of whom could not help. There are some other things going on with other devices that make me believe someone who had access to the truck may have done something and is using this to track me or access other data.

I contacted Gary Barbera in Phila PA with out any info if this will be still under warranty. Refilling less than 0.5 gal and the pump shuts off. No codes, No check engine light. This has been a headache with no answer. I found a service bulletin to adjust the fill neck and that was unsuccessful. Everything online is leaning to roll over valve and the dealership wont touch it or explain if warranty still applies.

While driving down a curving mountain highway above 70 mph, the gauge cluster displayed “shift to park” or “shift to drive” I don’t recall exactly. The transmission then downshifted dramatically, perhaps into 3rd gear, then the motor shut off.Thankfully, I successfully merged through heavy traffic to the narrow shoulder but the truck would not restart. After over 30 minutes of attempts (fuel tank above half)I called a tow truck. My family climbed up the hill to get a safe distance from the road. It was cold and dark and things could have gone much worse. Ram owners on internet forums have described this exact problem many times and it’s clear that this is a wide spread safety issue. This is the second time the truck had lost power while driving in the same manner. The first time the dealer could not replicate the issue while it was under warranty and returned it to service. No I’m out of warranty, need a new transmission at largely my own expense and there are zero available in the country. The dealer has my truck for an “indefinite” time period.

I purchased a 2019 Ram 1500 in November and have since been unable to pass state inspection due to several issues with the vehicle. I have contacted the dealership three times to request repairs, but they have repeatedly told me there is nothing they can do. I reached out to the Massachusetts Lemon Law, and they advised me to contact a lawyer immediately. The problems preventing my vehicle from passing inspection include excessive play in the bushing of the right front upper control arm, excessive play in the ball joint of the right front lower control arm, issues with both front struts, and excessive wear on the stub shafts of the front differential assembly, necessitating a front axle replacement since a kit is unavailable. Additionally, both front axle shafts need attention, and I require four-wheel spacers to prevent tire rubbing, as well as four fender flares. Within the first 30 days of purchase, I informed the dealership about the truck's tires not passing inspection. They acknowledged the tires were worn but claimed they still passed. When alignment issues arose due to bad ball joints, the dealership insisted the ball joints were up to spec. Unsatisfied, I sought a second opinion from another Dodge dealership, which confirmed the ball joints were faulty and identified additional issues with the front axles, struts, control arms, and front differential assembly. I provided this information to the original dealership, seeking repairs, but was again told there was nothing they could do. I have documented all my communications with the dealership and their responses. At the time of purchase, I received a powertrain warranty through Zurich that covers the front axles and front differential assembly. However, the dealership did not provide an inspection report or certification of the vehicle's condition when I bought it.

The power train component, specifically the etorque alternator (MGU) has failed and verified by CDJR dealership service department. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The MGU component affects the emissions control of the vehicle and is a generator for a battery cell located in the rear of the cab. The MGU failure could cause damage to the hybrid battery system, electrical failure, and reduction of emissions control. The issue has been replicated by numerous dealerships that I have contacted as the replacement part is on a national back order (dealer representative stated over 5,000). This seems like a substantial problem known by the manufacturer and yet there isn’t a repair/replacement option for numerous consumers. There were no warning lamps alerted during the failure. The failure consists of a “whining” noise located in the engine compartment at the alternator/MGU and significant reduced fuel economy.

I am handy so I call my local dodge ram dealer and they tell me that there are over 3,400 heater cores on back order and they have no release date and that their shop is waiting on 7 of them. If someone experiences the issue I had today but in different circumstances it could turn catastrophically deadly

While driving I noticed a message that said “service electrical brake system. I took it to my local Ram dealer. They hooked up a tablet that said there was something wrong with the ABS module and it needs to be replaced. The tech then told me that there are no ABS modules available anywhere in the country, they are on back order. So here is where the complaint begins. If there are none available, that would suggest to me that an awful lot of these ABS modules have gone bad and had to be replaced I then called Ram customer service and they requested I get an order number and part number from my local Ram dealer. I did so and they had another customer service person call and when I spoke to her she said the ABS modules are unavailable because they are currently under review by their engineers. Which tells me that there is something wrong with the ABS modules. There isn’t much more of a safety hazard then not having brakes. I don’t see why a recall has not been initiated by Ram or Chrysler for these ABS modules. I am asking you to start an investigation into this problem. MY 2019 RAM 1500 CLASSIC SLT CREW CAB, has a serious safety DEFECT of a Remote Frequency (RF) hub, a critical component responsible for recognizing the key fob and enabling the vehicle to start which won't allow fob to work or remote start. This is caused by the rear light back window has a recurring leak that has resulted in water intrusion into the vehicle. This water damage led to the failure of the Remote Frequency (RF) hub, a critical component. The issue has also resulted in corrosion to wiring harnesses and electrical components. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This issue has put mine and my wife's safety at risk on multiple occasions. The vehicle has repeatedly failed to recognize the key fob, rendering it completely inoperable as well as the remote starter. I've been left stranded multiple times due to this defect causing keyfob to not work not allowing me to enter the vehicle either when needed especially when my wife is alone at night in this vehicle. Additionally, electrical failures pose a fire hazard and could potentially affect other critical systems while the vehicle is in operation. There are thousands of ram truck owners also complaining of the exact same issue. I have incurred expenses such as tow fee's and shop fee's when we can't enter the vehicle when posing only the fob on our person and diagnostics of this issue. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AS THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

I took my 2019 Ram 1500 to a Ram dealer on 10/21/2024 for the Anti-lock Breaking System Module Configuration Mismatch safety recall 75B/NHTSA 24V-653. There were no warning lights on in my vehicle when it was dropped off. When the dealership attempted to apply the safety recall it caused something in the ABS module to fail, and they then said I needed a new ABS module that will cost $500-$700 to replace. This failure has disabled traction control, antilock braking, and auto start/stop. The dealer said they did not have the ABS module and had no ETA as to when it would be in stock. The ABS module has been out of stock nationally for months with no estimated time of availability. Now, there are warning lamps and messages for the ABS and Traction Control. Now, I am unsure if the vehicle is safe to drive in adverse conditions where ABS and traction control would likely be needed. At the very least, a major part like an ABS Module should be available for a fairly late model vehicle. This defect "repair" has obviously caused the ABS Module failure. The dealer tried to say there was already something wrong with the ABS Module before the repairs were attempted, but neither I nor they noted any warning lamps or messages before the repairs were attempted. If the module had already failed but did not produce any warnings, that sounds like another defect that they should be required to repair.

I took my vehicle in for an unrelated issue, a wheel speed sensor that was throwing codes. When I brought it in they advised me about a serious engine oil leak. This issue is too fold. . As far as I'm concerned this should have been a recall due to its seriousness. The housing for the oil filter is made of plastic mounted on the engine block. I live in Buffalo New York, where we were experiencing Sub-Zero to zero temperatures it is not unlike putting a hot glass in cold water it cracks, also if it is tightened too much it can also crack, which shortly before this incident I did have it in for an oil change and tire rotation, suggestion would be to perhaps make the part out of aluminum. This could have caused a serious issue with oil splashing back on the rear tires causing a spin out, possible accident, possible injury or worse. Mopar has known about this as far as I can tell from my research as far back as 2013 on the 3.2 and 3.6 Pentastar in their Jeep products in fact there was a 2012 Jeep in for service with the same problem. Apparently this has continued on the same engine in Ram also. I was told by the service people at Joe Cecconi Chrysler in Niagara Falls New York that it was nothing that I did wrong. I certainly believe that since they knew about this for such a long time that they should reimburse at least in part, if not in total of that related service up to including other parts related to this issue and the oil. I am further concerned about this being a continuing issue.

The backlite window on my 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie (VIN: KN655467) has a recurring leak that has resulted in water intrusion into the vehicle. This water damage led to the failure of the Remote Frequency (RF) hub, a critical component responsible for recognizing the key fob and enabling the vehicle to start. The issue has also resulted in corrosion to wiring harnesses and electrical components. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This issue has put my safety at risk on multiple occasions. The vehicle has repeatedly failed to recognize the key fob, rendering it completely inoperable. On two separate occasions, I was left stranded and had to have the vehicle towed. Additionally, electrical failures pose a fire hazard and could potentially affect other critical systems while the vehicle is in operation. The issue has been confirmed and reproduced by the authorized RAM dealership. The dealership determined that water intrusion from the backlite window caused the failure of the RF hub and other electrical components. Despite this, RAM/Stellantis has refused to replace the backlite window under warranty, only applying a temporary sealant fix that has repeatedly failed. The vehicle has been inspected by RAM dealership technicians multiple times. Each time, the dealership has confirmed water intrusion as the source of electrical failures. RAM/Stellantis has been made aware of the issue but refuses to properly address it. There were no warning lamps or messages before the initial failure. The first symptom appeared when the vehicle failed to recognize the key fob and would not start in November 2024. After the RF hub replacement, the issue reoccurred, requiring additional repairs. I was almost back to the site, my dash lights started wildly flashing. The ESC SYSTEM OFF displayed, the (ABS) light illuminated along with SERVICE THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. The front passenger side tire started to shake, just as I was trying to avoid a large pothole around a bend. My truck slid straight across it and slammed my front end down in the ditch. I had NO CONTROL. It caused my side airbags to deploy and the seatbelts to lock up. I drove out of the ditch, the truck was ok. I was close so i drove to the cabin. The next morning I inspected everything, in addition: the front bumper was bent, fog light hanging, wheel well was bent, and there were a lot of scratches. I am a small business owner, I didn't want my insurance to go up, and was waiting until I could afford to fix it. The latest incidents were during the last two weeks. First, I was driving on a 70 MPH highway, suddenly service air pressure system displayed and passenger tire pressure went to “0”, the ABS and ESC warnings displayed, and that tire started shaking. I pulled over to check the tire thinking I had a flat , but it was fully inflated. I turned off the truck, waited 5 mins then started it back up, "fixed" then drove home. Since then, the truck is randomly locking that brake, while I'm driving. THREE separate times it has locked up. I thought I was dragging something one day as I was backing up. Next day I was backing out of my driveway quickly and it caused me to slide into the road. I test drove away slowly, seemed fine. I went through the three stop signs to get out of my plan. It locked up at the third stop sign, as i turned right almost threw me into the sign.

The E-Torque alternator failed unexpectedly causing me to lose power while driving down a snowy highway. The vehicle shutdown then locked itself in park stranding me on a busy highway in a snowstorm at night time creating a severe safety hazard for myself and other motorists. After taking it to the local Dodge/Chrysler dealership diagnostics said the alternator went bad, however they cannot replace it as the factory currently has 5200 of these alternators on back order. So obviously this part is having major issues with failure. I’m certain it’s caused many unsafe situations. I want to know why there was no recall? Thank you very much for what you do!

My Ram 1500 front drive assembly issue. The initial issue was failure to engage in 4wheel drive. In either 4 wheel low, high or Auto. During replacing the transfer case it became obvious that axle in some way basically became welded to housing so had to replace left axle as well. Do to these problems I now have to replace front differential (part# 68349702AE and right axle (part# 68259567AA) as well because of the failure of transfer case and left axle. My issue is 1st the differential part is not available in my area (Nassau County NY). 2nd is that there is a recall for a faulty gear or bearing in the front drive train that my VIN# is not included in this recall. Could this bearing/gear have caused my issue? 3rd is if the front differential is on such a long back order that is telling me that Stelantis has an issue with the reliability of this part (68349702AE). Why if this is in such demand and numerous problems with them hasn't NHTSA not forced Stalantis to recall these parts. My truck is a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7 Hemi with just 38,677 miles presently today. I have never taken this truck 4 wheeling or on the beach. The only time I have used 4 wheel drive is when the roads are slick due to rain, snow or ice, because of the light rear end. The last time 4 wheel drive was used was last years snow storm. Just don't understand hardly ever used and all this damage, truck was never in a substantial accident. I clipped drivers side back door and small section of bed, minor. Any information or help would be greatly appreciated. I'm already into this for $2500 and looking at another $3000. Thank You.

My vehicle with 70k miles on it has had a failure of the motor generator unit (MGU). This is a mild hybrid system that provides power for the vehicle. My truck is completely unusable per the service technician at the dealership. If I continue driving it the battery power will drain and I will be stranded. It appears it is a bearing failure in the generator. Upon investigation there are numerous cases of other Ram 1500 owners having the same issue at relatively low mileage for such a crucial engine component. The part is currently backordered and I just read a report that there are over 5000 currently ordered in the system, so that would lead me to believe that over 5000 owners are having the same issue. Luckily I was near my home when this occurred as this could have left me stranded. Reports say it could be 1-2 months before parts are in stock to fix the issue. This just seems unreasonable for 5000 customers of a major automotive manufacturer to have potentially dead vehicles for 1-2 months.

I selected other at this issue caused more the 3 items to fail. While driving the truck pretty much every light on the dash would come on, I would lose power steering, speedometer (both digital and analog), all gauges would malfunction, turn signals would not work and pretty much anything electronic would not function properly. At one point, this happened while driving on the interstate using cruise control. The truck was doing fine and then all of the sudden it popped into neutral from cruise and started to malfunction. There were also times where the transmission would not shift gears past first gear so that pretty much made it impossible to drive anywhere. As you can imagine, this is not only a safety issue for myself and my passengers, but also to anyone else on the road. I've seen many other cases of the same issue I experienced online in many forums and I really don't know why there isn't already a recall out for this. When I had my truck serviced to fix the issue, I'm almost positive I saw a recall for the ABS system that pertained to my issue, but after it was serviced I can no longer find that recall. The fix ended up being a replacement of the "star connector". I have a video of the malfunction actively taking place before it was repaired if that would help with anything.

At times the transmission does not shift from 2 to 3 or 3 to 4 gears. Causes the engine RPM to reach red level. Have to pull over turn off vehicle and restart for the transmission to shift again. This is suppose to be a lifetime transmission and not need any maintenance. It seems to be a common problem on many forums for this particular transmission. Or it jumps into gear instead of the smooth shifting that it is suppose to do. Many people seem to be having the same issues.

This has also happened at a yeild sign and while slowing down for a turn. This is very dangerous and someone will be hurt if not addressed. I took to the dealer in Daphne AL Tamaron to get this resolved and a few other things going with the truck the radio a recall on abs system and exhaust leak. witch had nothing to do with this. they were in contact with the auto maker i guess Cylser. they looked at the camshafts and found nothing wrong no does the truck have a codes. I was told to come get my truck because they couldnt find the issue but everything else was fixed. I currently have around 105,000 miles but this has been happening for at least 50k around 30times some almost causing a wreak. i have read that they really havent found an issue besides the wiring harness but not sure this fixed the issue online forms. BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS

The issues started with the sunroof not closing. And the uconnect touch screen inoperable ( it went black and no options available ) It seemed to be a fluke and resolved itself. But within a few weeks the icons for the driver and passenger seat heaters were no longer on the screen. Now that the season has changed and temps have dropped, the drivers side heater will automatically come on when the truck is started and it’s below a certain degree outside. It gets crazy hot and will only shut off when the truck is turned off. This was followed by the icons for the radio options resorting themselves and the one for USB disappearing as well. The usb connection still works, but it has to automatically switch over when plugged in, it cannot be manually selected. Lastly the ParkAssist seems to have a mind of its own. Sometimes it will function as intended. Other times when I start the truck it flashes a warning that the park assist is unavailable and the lights on the switches are on showing it’s been disengaged. When pushed they will flash and then turn solid again. Other times it will happen while I’m driving. There will be a ding and the unavailable warning will flash on the screen. When the icons first disappeared I called mopar/uconnect customer service. They tried to walk me through some diagnostics but none of it worked. They suggested maybe getting a software update. But couldn’t tell me if that would fix it or not. When I asked if it didn’t they just said I’d have to replace the whole uconnect system.

SEATS

POWER TRAIN

I was turning at a light when my truck gave a message saying “switch to p” and wouldn’t let me accelerate there was no shoulder to pull over so I had to stop in the middle of the road switch to parking and then to drive this is concerning as I research and found out that it has happened to a few other people and RAM is not doing anything about it when the issue is brought to them they treat the problem as a case by case basis claiming they have never heard that problem

STEERING

When driving in wet road conditions the truck will jerk the steering wheel to the left into oncoming traffic. When the condition happens it’s impossible to hold the steering wheel straight to keep in the proper lane. During dry road conditions the steering works and will remain in the proper lane with no issues

STEERING

While driving my steering wheel will stick left or right while turning and the power steering is intermittently working. This is a major problem with 2019 ram 1500s. While turning there is also a horrible sound outside the vehicle and it sounds like there is sand being ground up in the steering wheel. This problem makes my vehicle unsafe to drive as i dont know if i will be able to steer or if my steering wheel is going to completely lock up.

STEERING

When turning left, the steering locks slightly. Overcome with slightly more pressure. It is scary when it happens. It's done it since I drove it off the lot with 28,000 miles. When loaning truck, I let the driver know about this issue. Went to dealer 3 times, unable to reproduce. The vehicle or component has only been inspected by the dealer. No warnings given by vehicle.
