2011 PORSCHE PANAMERA Complaints and Recall Information

The 2011 PORSCHE PANAMERA has 7 complaints and 7 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues with engine acceleration and water intrusion through the AC vents affecting the electrical system. Several complaints cite delays and costs associated with recall repairs, particularly relating to engine camshaft controller failures.

Common Issues

  • Engine acceleration failure. Reports indicate the vehicle does not accelerate despite pressing the gas pedal, with diagnostic codes showing reduced engine power and PCM problems.
  • Engine stall risk. Camshaft controllers may come loose inside the engine, causing the engine to stall unexpectedly while driving.
  • Water intrusion through AC vents. Water leaks into the cabin via AC vents, soaking passenger-side carpets and potentially causing short circuits in electrical modules.
  • Recall repair delays. Owners have reported prolonged wait times and incomplete recall repairs related to camshaft controller replacements, with some dealers refusing to perform service without large upfront payments.

The vehicle has 7 recalls that affect critical systems such as the engine, electrical components, and lighting. These recalls address issues ranging from turbocharger turbine wheel fractures to electrical shorts in the A/C blower control unit and transmission gear selector cable defects.

Recalls

  • Turbocharger turbine wheel fracture (12V329000). Affecting 270 vehicles, the turbine wheel may fracture due to a casting defect leading to decreased performance and risk of fire from oil entering the exhaust. Porsche will replace turbine wheels free of charge. This recall began August 31, 2012.
  • Headlight adjustment caps missing (22V656000). Over 222,000 vehicles affected, missing caps can cause improper headlight alignment, posing a crash risk. Dealers will inspect and install missing caps at no cost. Notification sent October 28, 2022.
  • Transmission gear selector bushing defect (19V446000). About 99,665 vehicles have a degraded bushing risking vehicle movement without the transmission in Park. Dealers will replace the shifter cable bushing free of charge. Recall began August 9, 2019. Owners must use the parking brake until repaired.
  • Electrical short in A/C blower control (19V322000). 33,206 vehicles may suffer water entry causing an electrical short and fire risk. Dealers will inspect and replace the blower control unit as needed. Recall started February 10, 2020. Owners advised to park outdoors until fixed.
  • Loose camshaft controller screws (17V368000). 18,005 vehicles are subject to engine stalls from camshaft adjusters coming loose. Porsche will replace fastening screws free of charge. Initial owner letters sent January 12, 2018.

Owners dealing with repeated repairs, safety defects, or long-standing unresolved recall issues may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting with a qualified attorney could provide guidance on potential remedies related to persistent problems or recall compliance failures.

I am reporting an issue with the AH08 recall (NHTSA Campaign 17V368) for my 2011 Porsche Panamera 4S. I experienced the failure on December 27, 2024, while driving on the highway. I scheduled repair at Porsche Greensboro (Foreign Cars Italia) for Dec 31, 2024, but they kept my vehicle for 33 days without completing any recall work. They then advised me to contact another dealer. I arranged to have the vehicle towed to Porsche Southpoint in Durham, NC, for a February 3, 2025 appointment. As of June 2025, none of the recall repairs have been performed, and the dealer is requesting $12,000 to disassemble the engine for damage stemming from the AH08 issue—work that should be covered under the recall. I have not received any response from the dealership despite repeated requests. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in enforcing compliance with the recall requirement and investigating this prolonged failure to perform mandatory safety repairs.

On [XXX], I experienced the failure associated with the AH08 recall while driving on the highway. I promptly scheduled an appointment at Porsche Greensboro (Foreign Cars Italia) for December 31, 2024, at 8:00 AM (Confirmation Code: [XXX]) to address recalls AH08, AKA7, AKB1, and ANB4. Despite keeping my vehicle for 30 days, Porsche Greensboro did not complete any of the recall services and ultimately informed me that they could not perform the work in a timely manner, advising me to contact another dealership. Following this, I scheduled an appointment at Porsche Southpoint for February 3, 2025, at 9:20 AM (Confirmation Code: [XXX]), and Porsche Greensboro arranged to have the vehicle towed there. However, as of today, Porsche Southpoint has not completed the recall repairs and is requesting $12,000 (50% upfront) for engine disassembly related to failures stemming from the AH08 recall. This is deeply concerning, as recall repairs should be addressed promptly and at no cost to the vehicle owner. To date, my vehicle has been out of service for nearly six months with no resolution. I respectfully request your immediate assistance to ensure that the recall repairs are completed without further delay or financial burden to me, in accordance with NHTSA and Porsche’s recall obligations. I have included correspondence with both Porsche Greensboro and Porsche Southpoint for your review. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to a prompt and satisfactory resolution. I can be reached at [XXX] or [XXX] . Due to a problem with my car engine, the car would not accelerate and would move slowly despite pressing on the pedal. The car screen indicated that it was PCM problem (the gas would not come up) and it was a reduced engine problem. The car not accelerating despite pressing the pedal can pose serious safety problems. I have not taken the car to a dealer to repair yet.
