2018 PORSCHE MACAN Complaints and Recall Information
The 2018 PORSCHE MACAN has 1 complaint and 16 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most often report an issue with the steering wheel column being loose due to faulty bushings. The manufacturer requires replacement of the entire steering column instead of allowing just the bushings to be replaced.
Common Issues
- Steering column looseness. The steering wheel column becomes loose because of faulty plastic bushings. The manufacturer insists on replacing the full steering column rather than individual bushings.
The 16 recalls affect multiple systems including seat belts, airbags, the fuel system, equipment, and electrical components. These recalls address a mixture of safety and functional defects with fixes ranging from part replacement to rework and tightening procedures.
Recalls
- Rear seat belt anchorage. NHTSA recall 23V443000 affects 37 vehicles. The screw attaching the lower seat belt anchor on outboard rear seats may be improperly tightened, which could cause detachment during a crash. Dealers will replace and tighten the screw at no cost.
- Front passenger air bag sensor. Recall 21V131000 covers 39,547 vehicles. Sensor mat degradation can prevent detecting a passenger, causing air bag failure during a crash. Dealers will replace the sensor mat and seat cushion free of charge.
- Fuel pump and flange. Recall 20V077000 applies to 70,117 vehicles. The fuel pump service cover can contact the fuel pump flange, causing cracks and potential fuel leaks. Repairs include rework, protective film application, and replacement if cracks are found.
- Ski bag fastening strap. Recall 18V844000 affects 142 vehicles. Incorrectly sewn straps may tear in a crash, allowing the ski bag to detach and increase injury risk. Dealers will replace the ski bags at no charge.
- Electrical control unit failure. Recall 18V318000 covers 3 vehicles. The control unit may fail and disable safety-related functions like driver alerts, impairing drivability and safety. Dealers will replace the control unit free of charge.
Owners facing repeated repairs or unresolved defects related to safety recalls may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a consumer protection attorney familiar with these issues could be advisable.

Upon routine 80k service, discovered that steering wheel column loose due to faulty bushings. Individual bushings could be replaced but manufacturer insists that entire steering column needs replacement. Manufacturer should provide replacement bushings for technician to replace instead of entire column. This is simply an 8mm plastic piece!
