2018 PIERCE QUANTUM Complaints and Recall Information
The 2018 PIERCE QUANTUM has 0 complaints and 11 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to fuel system defects, weld failures on mounting brackets, and unintended movement of aerial devices. Several recalls address electrical and brake light problems as well.
There are 11 recalls concerning various safety and mechanical systems. These recalls cover fuel injection system leaks, structural weld failures, aerial device control malfunctions, and lighting defects among others.
Recalls- Fuel system fuel rail. (NHTSA 22V032000, 243 vehicles) Fuel tubes between the fuel rail and injectors for cylinders 4, 5, and 6 may crack due to fatigue causing a high pressure fuel leak. This leak can increase fire risk if near an ignition source. Fixes include installing vibration isolators or replacing fuel tubes. No "Do Not Drive" advisory.
- Stokes basket mounting brackets. (NHTSA 22V809000, 299 vehicles) Mounting brackets may be insufficiently welded and could fail, causing the basket to fall and raising injury risk. Dealers will replace the brackets free of charge. No parking or driving restrictions apply.
- Aerial device software. (NHTSA 19V022000, 994 vehicles) The aerial device may unexpectedly rotate right during ladder extension, risking contact with objects or wires and injury. Dealers will reprogram the aerial control module at no cost. No "Do Not Drive" advisory.
- Aerial device joystick controller. (NHTSA 20V571000, 405 vehicles) Faulty joystick controller may cause the aerial device to move without operator input, increasing injury risk. Affected joysticks will be replaced free of charge. No driving or parking restrictions.
- Fuel injection system sealing washer. (NHTSA 21V394000, 2,416 vehicles) The sealing washer may not seat properly causing fuel rail leaks and fire risk near ignition sources. Inspecting and replacing the fuel rail as needed will be done free of charge. No advisory against driving.
- Brake lights. (NHTSA 18V756000, 717 vehicles) Whelen accessory brake lights may illuminate without brake application causing driver confusion and potential crashes. Whelen will inspect and replace defective lights at no cost. No restrictions on driving or parking.
Owners who face repeated repairs or unresolved issues related to these recalls may want to consider their rights under applicable state lemon laws.
