Recalls- Rear disc brakes interference. (NHTSA 10V317000) Affects 45 vehicles. The Meritor Wabco EX225 rear disc brake caliper can interfere with Onspot automatic tire chain brackets, restricting caliper movement. Reduced braking performance increasing crash risk. Dealers will install new tire chain brackets to provide clearance free of charge.
- Engine shutdown risk. (NHTSA 10V195000) Affects 827 vehicles. Detroit Diesel Series 60 engines may unexpectedly shut down when a diesel particulate filter over-temperature condition is detected, risking emergency response interruption. Engine control logic will be reprogrammed free of charge.
- Brake slack adjuster interference. (NHTSA 10V269000) Affects 14 vehicles. Rear brake slack adjusters may contact tire chain brackets at near full stroke, compromising brake capability. Dealers will install new tire chain brackets free of charge.
- SCBA compartment door latch defect. (NHTSA 11V551000) Affects 59 vehicles. Incorrect latch orientation may cause SCBA compartment doors to open in motion, possibly dropping cylinders onto the roadway and creating crash risk. Dealers will install reinforcement plates free of charge.
- Electronic Stability Control malfunction. (NHTSA 11V527000) Affects 724 vehicles. Certain road conditions may cause ESC to apply outer front axle brakes unnecessarily, potentially leading to vehicle deviation. Control module replacements will be provided at no cost.
- Engine shutdown software flaw. (NHTSA 12V080000) Affects 276 vehicles. Detroit Diesel DD13 engines intended for emergency use may not have shutdown software disabled, causing unexpected shutdown despite warnings. Owners will be notified to disable shutdown software free of charge.
- Fuel line leak risk. (NHTSA 12V311000) Affects 313 vehicles. The high-pressure fuel line support system may loosen during service causing fuel line cracks and leaks. Fuel leaks increase fire risk. Dealers will replace the support system free of charge.
- Trailer turn signal wiring error. (NHTSA 13V518000) Affects 349 vehicles. Trailer connector circuit wiring causes the stop signal to override turn signals, preventing trailer turn indication and increasing crash risk. Dealers will install new electrical harnesses free of charge.
- Accelerator pedal spring failure. (NHTSA 14V778000) Affects 185 vehicles. Mechanical springs returning the accelerator pedal to idle may break, causing pedal to stick and risk unintended acceleration or crash. Dealers will replace throttle pedal assemblies free of charge.
- Front lower control arm cracks. (NHTSA 14V660000) Affects 135 vehicles. Front independent suspension lower control arms may crack and fracture, risking wheel separation and crash. Dealers will inspect and replace arms as needed free of charge.
- Stokes basket mounting bracket weld failure. (NHTSA 22V809000) Affects 299 vehicles. Insufficiently welded mounting brackets may fail, causing the Stokes basket to fall and risk injury. Dealers will replace brackets free of charge.
- Aerial device unexpected rotation. (NHTSA 19V022000) Affects 994 vehicles. The aerial ladder may unexpectedly move to the right during extension, heightening collision risk with nearby objects. Dealers will reprogram the control module free of charge.
- Flashlight battery overheating. (NHTSA 16V186000) Affects 36 vehicles. Lithium ion battery packs in Pelican flashlights may overheat, increasing fire risk. Owners are advised to inspect and may request replacement battery packs at no cost.
- Rear steer axle shaft failure. (NHTSA 17V348000) Affects 225 vehicles. Axle shafts not properly heat treated may break and disable the vehicle, causing crash risk. Dealers will replace axle shafts free of charge.
- Aerial device bracket detachment. (NHTSA 18V463000) Affects 17 vehicles. Limited retraction bracket on 75-foot aerial devices may detach and fall, threatening pedestrians below. Dealers will install additional mounting hardware free of charge.
Owners with repeated repairs or unresolved safety recall issues involving this vehicle may have rights under state lemon laws. Consulting with a qualified attorney specializing in consumer protection and lemon law is advisable for further assistance.
