2010 PIERCE DASH Complaints and Recall Information
The 2010 PIERCE DASH has 0 complaints and 5 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to brake system interference, engine shutdowns, and cab tilt safety among affected model years and similar vehicles.
The recalls cover multiple vehicle systems including brakes, engine control, cab safety, aerial device operation, and rear axle assembly. Each recall addresses distinct safety defects with prescribed repairs at no charge to owners.
Recalls- Brake caliper interference. Recall 10V317000 affects 45 vehicles due to the Meritor Wabco EX225 rear disc brake caliper potentially interfering with Onspot automatic tire chain brackets. This may restrict brake caliper movement and reduce braking performance without warning, increasing crash risk. Dealers will install new tire chain brackets to ensure full caliper actuation. The recall began July 2010.
- Engine shutdown risk. Recall 10V195000 involves 827 vehicles equipped with Detroit Diesel Series 60 engines that may shut down unexpectedly upon detecting a diesel particulate filter over temperature condition. Sudden engine shutdown can hinder emergency operations and put the public at risk. Detroit Diesel will reprogram engine control logic to prevent shutdown while illuminating a malfunction indicator light. The recall started May 28, 2010.
- Cab tilt mount failure. Recall 13V525000 covers 3115 vehicles where cab tilt cylinder mounts may fatigue and fail during maintenance, allowing the cab to fall until a safety catch activates. If a person is near the cab when failure occurs, injury risk increases. Dealers will install safety signs warning to stay clear when tilting the cab. The recall began January 6, 2014.
- Aerial device unexpected movement. Recall 19V022000 impacts 994 vehicles where the aerial device may unexpectedly rotate right while extending the ladder. Unexpected movement could cause the ladder to strike objects such as buildings or electrical wires, raising injury hazards. Dealers will reprogram the aerial control module. The recall started February 28, 2019.
- Axle shaft heat treatment defect. Recall 17V348000 affects 225 vehicles with rear steer axle shafts that were improperly heat treated. Defective shafts may break and disable the vehicle, increasing crash risk. Dealers will replace the rear steer axle shafts free of charge. An interim notice went out July 24, 2017. The recall began June 3, 2020.
Owners facing repeated repairs or unresolved safety recalls related to the described defects may have rights under their state’s lemon laws. Consulting a qualified attorney could provide guidance on potential legal remedies.
