  • Steering gear bracket fracture. Recall 10V423000 affects 2,652 vehicles manufactured between 1998 and 2008. The steering gear bracket may fracture causing detachment of the steering gear, leading to loss of steering control and risk of crash. Dealers will replace the mounting bracket free of charge. Owners should inspect the bracket before each trip.
  • Accelerator pedal arm bending. Recall 11V255000 covers 5,022 fire apparatus with electronic accelerator pedals from 1999 to 2008. The pedal arm may bend with repeated force, causing it to stick in full throttle, increasing crash risk. Dealers will install a redesigned pedal arm at no cost.
  • Cab tilt cylinder mounts failing. Recall 13V525000 involves 3,115 vehicles from 2000 to 2010. The cab tilt cylinder mounts may fatigue and fail, allowing the cab to fall until the safety catch engages, posing an injury risk if a person is in the cab’s path. Dealers will add safety signs warning operators to stay clear during cab tilting.
  • Aerial device unexpected rotation. Recall 19V022000 applies to 994 vehicles built from 2004 to 2018. The aerial ladder may rotate unexpectedly to the right during extension, potentially striking objects and causing injury. Dealers will reprogram the aerial control module free of charge.
  • Rear steer axle shaft defect. Recall 17V348000 affects 225 vehicles from 1999 to 2013 with electric All-steer rear steering. Axle shafts were not properly heat treated and may break, disabling the vehicle and increasing crash risk. Dealers will replace the axle shafts free of charge.

Owners dealing with repeated repairs related to these safety recalls or unresolved recall notifications may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting with a qualified attorney can help clarify options for vehicles with ongoing issues or serious defects.
