Recalls- Steering gear bracket. NHTSA recall 10V423000 affects 2,652 vehicles. The steering gear bracket may fracture and break, causing the steering gear to detach and resulting in loss of steering control with a crash risk. Owners are instructed to inspect the steering gear bracket before each trip. Dealers will install a new mounting bracket free of charge.
- Accelerator pedal arm. Recall 11V255000 involves 5,022 vehicles with electronic accelerator pedals. The pedal arm may bend after repeated force, causing the pedal to stick in the full throttle position and increasing crash risk. Dealers will replace the pedal arm with a redesigned one free of charge.
- Fuel tank straps. Recall 11V384000 covers 6,803 vehicles with fuel tank straps that may corrode and fracture, possibly causing the fuel tank to fall off or rupture. This creates risks of stalling, fuel spills, and slippery road surfaces. Dealers will inspect and replace straps with stainless steel for trucks less than 10 years old. Older vehicles may purchase replacement parts but are not eligible for free repair.
- Cab tilt cylinder mounts. In recall 13V525000 affecting 3,115 vehicles, mounts for the cab tilt cylinders may fail, allowing the cab to fall until the safety catch activates. Falling cabs pose injury risks to nearby persons. Dealers will install safety signs advising operators to stay clear during cab tilting.
- Rear steer axle shafts. Recall 17V348000 includes 225 vehicles equipped with electric All-steer rear steering. The axle shafts were improperly heat treated and may break, potentially disabling the vehicle and increasing crash risk. Dealers will replace the axle shafts free of charge.
Owners coping with multiple repairs related to these recall issues or unresolved safety defects may want to consider their rights under state lemon laws. Consulting with a consumer protection attorney could assist in determining appropriate steps.
