Recalls
  • Ignition switch defect. NHTSA recall 13V222000 affected 1,773 vehicles. An internal defect causes the ignition to engage the starter when a key is partially inserted. This may cause unintended engine startup, posing injury risk to people working near the engine and potential vehicle movement. Dealers replace the ignition switches free of charge.
  • Alternator charge cable chafing. Two recalls 15V456000 affecting 288 vehicles and 15V270000 affecting 1,494 vehicles, address alternator cables that may chafe against metal freon discharge lines leading to electrical shorts and fire risks. The fix reroutes cables and installs insulators or repositioning at no cost to owners.
  • Seat belt buckle malfunction. Recall 14V013000 affecting 10,414 vehicles concerns IMMI-brand L9 seat belt buckles that may partially engage, making it hard to unlatch the seat belt. This hinders egress and increases injury risk during emergencies. Dealers inspect and replace buckles as needed for free.
  • Electronic stability control software issue. Recall 20V199000 covers 460,515 vehicles with NAMUX software. Loss of ABS power can occur without activating the dashboard warning light, increasing crash risk. The remedy involves a free software update to the cab control module.
  • ABS warning light failure. Also part of recall 20V199000, this defect prevents warning lights from illuminating when ABS loses power, posing a safety hazard. Owners receive a software update free of charge to restore proper warning function.

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2008-2019 Peterbilt 330, 335, 337, 340, 348, 365, 367, 384, 386, 387, 388, 389, 567, 579 and 587 vehicles and 2008-2020 Kenworth T170, T270, T370, T660, T680, T800, T880, and W900 vehicles equipped with NAMUX Software. In the event that the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) loses battery and/or ignition power to the controller, the dash warning light for the ABS may not illuminate to warn the driver of the loss of ABS. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems," and 136, "Electronic Stability Control System on Heavy Vehicles."

Risk: If the driver unknowingly operates the vehicle without the ABS functioning, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
