2014 NISSAN VERSA NOTE Complaints and Recall Information
The 2014 NISSAN VERSA NOTE has 3 complaints and 4 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report transmission issues involving the CVT, including difficulty changing gears and transmission judder. Other complaints involve unexpected engine shutdowns accompanied by warning lights, requiring towing and independent inspection.
Common Issues
- Transmission malfunction. CVT transmission slips and judders creating delays in gear changes, particularly when coming to a stop. Restarting the ignition is often required to resume driving.
- Transmission codes. Diagnostic trouble codes such as P0868 (fluid pressure low), P0965 (PC solenoid B), and P17F0 (CVT judder transmission inspection) have been reported alongside transmission malfunctions.
- Engine shutdown. The engine unexpectedly shuts off while driving with several warning lights illuminated. Vehicle can sometimes restart but requires towing for inspection.
- Safety concerns. Vehicles get stuck at traffic lights due to transmission faults, causing traffic delays and potential safety issues.
Four recalls address various structural and component defects affecting safety and performance. These recalls primarily involve body structure bolts, rear seat latch bolts, and pedal obstruction risks linked to the center console trim. Modifications and replacements are provided free of charge by Nissan dealers.
Recalls
- Body sill bolts (NHTSA Recall 13V324000). Affects 7,707 vehicles manufactured April 23 to July 3, 2013. Lower body sill bolts may be missing or improperly torqued, reducing structural integrity and increasing injury risk during rear impacts. Nissan will tighten or install bolts free of charge beginning August 19, 2013.
- Rear seat latch bolts (NHTSA Recall 13V326000). Affects 7,782 vehicles manufactured April 23 to July 5, 2013. Rear seat latch bolts may have reduced strength, compromising rear seat crash performance and occupant safety. Dealers will replace bolts free of charge starting August 19, 2013.
- Center console trim panel (NHTSA Recall 15V507000). Affects 298,747 vehicles manufactured from April 23, 2013, to March 11, 2015. The trim panel can catch the driver’s shoe delaying transition from accelerator to brake pedal. This delay increases stopping distance and crash risk. Dealers will modify the panel free of charge starting September 14, 2015.
- Brake pedal linkage (NHTSA Recall 15V507000). Affects the same 298,747 vehicles and date range as above. Linked to the same defect with console trim causing delayed brake application. Modification of the trim panel is the prescribed fix, completed by dealers at no cost.
Owners dealing with repeated transmission failures, engine shutdowns, or recall defects may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a legal professional could help determine eligibility for remedies or compensation.
