2010 NISSAN SENTRA Complaints and Recall Information
The 2010 NISSAN SENTRA has 6 complaints and 3 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners frequently report stalling while driving and problems with vehicle starting. Some also report issues with the transmission and rear glass damage.
- Vehicle stalls. The engine stalls after coming to a complete stop at lights or stop signs, creating hazardous situations.
- Starting difficulties. The vehicle has trouble starting, often related to electrical or battery issues.
- Transmission problems. Sudden loss of speed occurred with suspected CVT transmission failure, causing unsafe driving conditions.
- Knocking noise. Owners heard knocking sounds under the hood, with no clear diagnosis.
- Rear glass fracture. The rear window cracked while the defroster was activated, without dealer contact or repairs performed.
There are three recalls affecting electrical and battery components on the 2010 Nissan Sentra. These recalls address potential fire risks, engine stalls, and starting issues arising from battery terminal defects and GPS unit batteries.
- GPS battery defect. Recall 10V401000 affected 7,948 vehicles equipped with Garmin Nuvi model 750 navigation system. Batteries in GPS units can overheat causing fire hazards. The fix involves replacing the battery and adding a spacer free of charge, performed by Garmin technicians.
- Positive battery terminal. Recall 10V555000 covered 13,737 vehicles manufactured between May 22 and July 8, 2010. A machining irregularity causes gaps at the terminal contact, leading to voltage drops that may stop the engine while driving increasing crash risk. Dealers replace the positive battery terminal cable end free of charge.
- Battery terminal corrosion. Recall 11V579000 involved 33,803 vehicles with MR20 engines manufactured from May 11 to October 25, 2010. Excess zinc coating on the terminal stud bolt causes voltage drops and potential engine stalls that might not allow restarting. Dealers replace the positive battery terminal and cover at no cost.
Owners facing repeated engine stalls, transmission failures, and unresolved recall repairs with the 2010 Nissan Sentra may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Those dealing with continuous safety defects should consider consulting legal resources to understand their options.
