Risk: An air bag that deploys improperly may not protect the driver as intended during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
2023 NISSAN ROGUE
12400 vehicles affected
SEATS:CRITICAL FASTENERS
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2023 Rogue, Pathfinder, and Infiniti QX60 vehicles. The driver's powered seat may not be fully secured to the seat frame, causing the seat frame welds to detach from the rear inboard seat bracket.
Risk: An unsecured seat with broken welds may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
2023 NISSAN ROGUE
71 vehicles affected
SEAT BELTS:CRITICAL FASTENERS
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2023 Nissan Rogue vehicles. The fastener in the rear seat belt anchor attachment points may not have been tightened properly and can loosen over time.

Driving 75 down the highway and my car all of a sudden went into limp mode causing my car to slow down dramatically lights flashing and beeping saying engine malfunction see manual power reduce service now. Could not accelerate luckily we got to slowly roll off the highway, but it could’ve been super dangerous because cars were going so fast. Had to get it towed and then went to a Nissan dealership Fort Collins, Colorado. They said it was the oil sensor malfunction and replaced that part and it ran ok after. Fast foward a month later driving down interstate on Labor Day weekend and the car did the same thing again had to get it towed again to A Nissan dealership in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Same codes popped up for. P0012 camshaft timing and P0196 engine oil temp sensor. The dealership informed me that first they changed the oil sensor and then if it comes back, they would change the water control valve continuing from the bulletin. They said this should fix it. However, now I’m nervous to drive on the highways thinking I’m gonna get stranded again. This is a concern of mine could’ve been in a car accident with so many cars zooming by and going to live mode.

I know of recall. Nissan has been unable to address. Had my car go in for several malfunctions in August. Battery also bad. Now driving on [XXX] from San Antonio, TX, car malfunctioned. Car was unable to maintain speeds which could have caused an accident. Car under warranty for 1 more month. I was almost to new Braunfels, TX with my [XXX] in the backseat. Had to find a way home on backroads as it was also raining. I tried to have them resolve before and was told no remedy. Now I’m having engine issues. This could have resulted in a bad outcome due to these issues on a high speed Hwy and my car dropped to 35 and I was unable to go faster. This recall needs a remedy IMMEDIATELY. The main issue involves the engine bearings (recall campaign KR15, NHTSA ID 25V-437). According to Nissan, certain engines equipped with the 1.5L VC-Turbo have a manufacturing defect in the main, A-, C-, and L-link bearings or related components. This defect can lead to engine damage and, in some cases, complete engine failure. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This situation puts my safety and the safety of others at risk, because if the engine fails while driving, it may cause a sudden loss of motive power, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. I am especially concerned because I frequently drive on highways and in traffic conditions where a sudden loss of power could result in an accident. The issue has been confirmed by Nissan through the recall notice, but as of now, the remedy is still pending, and there is no immediate fix or available parts for the engine bearing defect. My vehicle has not yet been inspected by Nissan for this recall, and I have not received a loaner vehicle or alternative solution to ensure safety while the remedy is pending. In addition, there are two other active recalls: Turbo hose defect (Nissan ID P4A47) – may cause fuel vapor smell inside or around the vehicle. EEM Logic (Nissan ID P3A28) – related to the Underhood Switching Module (USM/IPDM), which may lead to a vehicle no-start condition. Before the engine problem fully manifests, there are warning signs including unusual engine noises, rough engine performance, and warning messages appearing on the dashboard, such as the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL). These symptoms appeared progressively and have increased my concern about the possibility of a total engine failure while driving.

The front, movable section of my panoramic sunroof unexpectedly exploded/shattered while driving. There were no other vehicles in front of me and it was a clear sunny day with nothing overhead. The sunroof and cover were closed. If the cover had been opened, glass shards would've hit the occupants inside the cabin. The sound was an extremely loud bang similar to a shotgun. The sound caused me to brake and slightly swerve. Fortunately, there were no other vehicles nearby and I was able to pullover safely. There was a large chunk of glass missing and quite a bit of small shards on top of the cover. Glass shards continued to fall off while driving home.

I received a message on the Nissan app informing me that there is an active recall affecting the engine of my 2023 Nissan Rogue. I called the service department at Butler Nissan, and they advised me that they cannot do anything at this time and that there is no fix available. I then contacted Butler Nissan headquarters to ask what would happen if my vehicle malfunctioned. Would they provide a loaner car or allow me to get another vehicle that isn’t affected by a recall? My 2023 Nissan Rogue is my only means of transportation, and I am concerned about my family's safety in case the engine fails unexpectedly. The female operator told me they don’t handle hypothetical situations and that I would need to call back if something happens to the vehicle. I find this response completely unacceptable. What if a serious problem occurs, and I'm unable to call back? She didn’t take my concerns seriously, and it feels like Nissan isn't taking this issue seriously either. We could be in a life-threatening situation with a vehicle that hasn't been thoroughly tested! I need a solution, not uncertainty.

While driving my 2023 Nissan Rogue, the engine suddenly stalled as I approached a stop sign. The dashboard lit up with multiple warning lights, including the oil pressure warning. When I attempted to restart, the vehicle made a loud grinding/knocking sound, failed to start properly, and then shut off again. I was unable to restart the vehicle myself. Later, at the dealership, they reported that they were able to turn it on and drive it, but they could not confirm the stall I experienced. The vehicle has also shown other concerning symptoms: shaking when idling, jerking when stopping or accelerating, and occasional grinding noises. My local Nissan dealer eventually reported a broken transmission mount but did not find engine or transmission codes. I am very concerned that my symptoms (stalling, oil pressure light, grinding on restart) are consistent with the open recall for engine bearings on this model. The dealer admitted they currently have no guidance or remedy from Nissan for this recall, so no proper inspection or fix could be performed. Safety Hazard: This is a serious safety issue. The car stalled unexpectedly in traffic, leaving me without power. I was unable to restart it, and I feared the engine could fail completely at higher speeds, which could put me and others at risk. Concern: Nissan has not yet provided dealers with instructions or remedies for this recall, leaving owners with unsafe vehicles on the road. I strongly believe my case should be investigated as part of the bearing recall.

My car just randomly started having issues. It will start one day then take forever to start the next day. I’ve experienced bad odor to the vehicle and also the vehicle jumps into gears instead of smoothly shifting into gear. Also the engine is making noise and also the engine malfunction light has came on and my vehicle reduced power making it impossible to drive out of nowhere. I don’t feel safe riding in this vehicle due to the burning smell.

The sudden deactivation of the AEB system compromises the vehicle’s ability to automatically brake in critical situations, increasing the risk of a collision. The screen turning off could also limit access to important vehicle information or controls, further impacting safety. No warning lamps appeared prior to the failure. The issue with the screen and AEB deactivation happens when the vehicle is started, but there were no prior warnings before this started occurring. After so many recalls, I no longer feel safe with this vehicle.

I am leasing a 2023 Nissan Rogue (VIN: [XXX] ) and have received an Important Safety Recall Notice (NHTSA Recall 25V-xxx) regarding a potential engine defect. Unfortunately, my vehicle is already experiencing the exact conditions described in the recall. On multiple occasions (most recently [XXX]), I received warning messages including “Engine Malfunction – Power Reduced” and **“Battery – Service Now.” These incidents occurred while driving with my children in the vehicle on highways, creating an unsafe situation and risk of crash. I took my Rogue to Hertrich Nissan twice for inspection. Each time, I was told no issues were found, despite the warnings reappearing. Prior to this, I also had the MIL status recall performed and was told everything was fine. Clearly, the defect persists, and the vehicle remains unsafe to drive. This is an urgent safety concern. I drive my children daily and cannot risk sudden power loss or engine failure on the road. Nissan has acknowledged this defect in the recall notice but has stated parts may not be available until late 2025. That is unacceptable when the vehicle is already showing failures. I am requesting NHTSA investigate this issue further. Nissan should be required to take immediate corrective action, including providing affected customers with safe alternative transportation, buyback/lease termination options, or reimbursement. Customers should not have to continue making payments on unsafe vehicles while waiting over a year for a potential repair. Nissan issued the recall on my vehicle. I took it into the dealership to be inspected. Was informed my car was one that needed to be fixed because of metal fragments on the dipstick in the oil. Was told Nissan had no remedy for the situation yet and had no idea when it would be available to be fixed. So I am expected to continue to drive a car that could stop working while driving and potentially cause a crash. It is absolutely unacceptable for them not to have a remedy for the situation or even know when they will.

Subject: Failure of Nissan to Remedy Safety Issue Similar to Existing Recall – Nissan Rogue Dear National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, I am submitting this complaint regarding Nissan North America’s refusal to address a serious mechanical issue on my Nissan Rogue that is substantially similar to an existing recall. Despite the fact that my vehicle is experiencing the same symptoms and failures described in NHTSA Campaign, Nissan has declined to perform the necessary repair under the recall. Details: Vehicle: 2023 nissan rouge Mileage: 62750 Recall reference: Description of issue: My Rogue has exhibited loss of power which is identical to the condition Nissan has acknowledged in the recall. Nissan’s response: When I contacted my dealer and Nissan consumer affairs, they advised that my VIN is not included in the recall, even though the failure is the same as those vehicles covered. Safety concern: This issue poses a significant safety risk, as it stalling at high speed, inability to accelerate, the complete engine failure. The refusal to cover this repair leaves me with an unsafe vehicle and an undue financial burden, even though Nissan is aware of the defect. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate Nissan’s handling of this matter and consider expanding the scope of the recall to include vehicles like mine that are experiencing the same hazardous defect. Thank you for your attention to this urgent safety matter. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My 2023 Nissan Rogue with less than 38,000 miles is experiencing severe engine failure. This has happened multiple times (more than 30 times) on the highway and in the city. When I am in slow-moving traffic or stop at a red light, the engine appears to rev and a warning light comes up "Engine Malfunction. Power reduce. Service now." Then the speed reduced, and no matter how hard I stepped on the gas pedal, the speed would not go past 8 miles per hour. I had to turn on the hazard lights to warn motorists behind me. To get the car to function, I turned off the engine, let it cool for a few minutes, and turned it on again. This issue has been going on for months. I took it to the Nissan dealership, and they could not find the problem. I am afraid of driving in slow traffic and of stopping at the traffic light. Please, somebody, needs to pass this on to Nissan so they can fix this problem? From online discussions, this appears to be an ongoing problem with many 2023 Nissan Rogues.

I am writing to formally report a concern regarding a potential design defect in the 2023 Nissan Rogue that I believe poses a safety risk. During a routine oil change at a Nissan dealership, the metal drain plug detached from the vehicle’s oil pan. The dealership determined that the plastic oil pan had to be replaced and charged me approximately $500 for the repair. I have since learned that this issue may be the result of a flawed design — specifically, the combination of a plastic oil pan and a metal drain plug, which may lead to stripped threads or plug failure over time. From my understanding, Nissan has modified the oil pan design in the 2024 Rogue models, which suggests they are aware of the flaw and have taken steps to correct it. However, for 2023 models like mine, this issue remains a risk. If the plug detaches while the vehicle is in operation, it could lead to a sudden and dangerous loss of engine oil, potentially resulting in engine failure and loss of vehicle control — a serious safety hazard. I believe this should be investigated as a potential safety-related defect. The current design not only puts drivers at risk but also leaves them responsible for costly repairs resulting from what appears to be a manufacturer design oversight.

The noise has been coming from my engine sounding like something is going to break on my car. The more I push down on the accelerator the more worst the noise get. I am tired of driving this car like this and I don’t know how to fix it. If I have to I will be getting my lawyer involved for negligence.

In April of this year my 2023 Nissan Rogue complete shut down while on the highway. Received a warning notification “Engine Malfunction Power Reduced Service Now”. The car would not drive over 10 miles per hour. The dealer claimed it was our error; stating we had hit a curb so not under warranty. We had not. We were charged approx $200 to fix. Now today, July, we have received the same warning and again it shut down. Had to have it towed to the dealer. They are saying it’s probably a sensor like last time. I asked about the current engine recall and was told they don’t have a fix and this would not cause these issues. These issues are a serious safety issue to just stop the car on the highway while diving!

Made appointment with Nissan was advised the water pump malfunctioned. Internet inquiries resulted in multiple owners of this vehicle reporting catastrophic engine failures as a result of water pump failure. Some failures occurred suddenly with no warning lights from the vehicle. I contacted Nissan was advised no TSB’s at this time no recalls on this vehicle. Further advised they would inquire if the service tech will perform checks on the engine oil for metal debris and if they are checking the head gaskets for failure and warped heads. Very concerned this vehicle will fail and we will suffer a financial hardship. Nissan is aware of the issues reportedly involving 443,000 vehicles.

Subject: Engine Recall (KR15) Ignored ‚Äì Engine Noise Ongoing + Misleading Tailgate Lock Repair Offer ‚Äì Lost Trust in Dealership I bought my 2023 Nissan Rogue brand new from this dealership two years ago. Recently, I‚Äôve experienced multiple issues with both the car and the service, leading to frustration and loss of trust. ‚∏ª üîß 1. Engine Recall Ignored ‚Äì Still Making Noise I went in for a recall service months ago. The service advisor (named Well) only replaced a hose and said everything else was fine, even though I told them about a knocking noise from the engine. Now, the KR15 engine bearing recall has been issued, and the noise is still happening. The dealer continues to dismiss it, but I am seriously concerned about potential engine damage or failure. I am requesting a full, proper inspection and repair under this recall. ‚∏ª üö™ 2. Tailgate Lock ‚Äì Misleading Advice and Pressure to Pay Around 3 months ago, I visited the dealer because my tailgate lock wasn‚Äôt opening, after I had broken the tailgate glass myself earlier. They told me: ‚ÄúYour lock is working fine. There‚Äôs just broken glass inside ‚Äî once we vacuum it, everything will be okay.‚Äù But the next day, another employee told me: ‚ÄúNo, your lock is actually broken. You need a full lock replacement for $893.65.‚Äù This surprised me because they had just told me the lock was fine. After I expressed concern, they negotiated the price down to $500 flat. Due to financial difficulty, I couldn‚Äôt proceed at the time. I‚Äôm attaching the invoice they gave me for proof. This change in opinion and pressure to pay left me confused and feeling misled. It added stress, and I now feel I cannot fully trust the dealership‚Äôs service recommendations. ‚∏ª üìå 3. What I Am Requesting: 1.A proper inspection and repair of the KR15 engine bearing issue and engine noise under the recall. 2.A review of the tailgate lock experience and explanation for the inconsistent service advice and price negotiation. 3.Clear communicatio

I bought my daughter a new 2023 Rogue SL in June-2023 at our local Nissan dealership in Concord, CA. On [XXX] the car's engine completely cut-out on [XXX] on a trip to L.A. Fortunately, my daughter was able to coast to the far lane and call AAA for a tow to the Valencia dealership. There the service rep told her that two other Rouges had also been towed off the Grapevine that day. They kept the car for a couple days and replaced the engine oil temp sensor which got her back home. On [XXX] the engine again completely cut-out while my daughter was crossing [XXX] on her way to work. More fortunate than the [XXX] incident, my daughter was able to coast off the bridge via an offramp in [XXX]. Once again AAA came to the rescue towing the car to the Concord dealership where it now sits for evaluation. The service department told me that they need to bring in a high-level mechanic to go through not only this engine but several other Nissan and Infiniti engines. Needless to say, both of these instances placed my daughter in extreme danger and for the grace of God she came through without injury. More than an incident, I’m concerned it might turn into one. For the past few days, I’ve noticed something unusual (nothing serious for now) with the engine/transmission. When I shift to Drive, the engine seems to jerk a bit or takes a moment to engage the gear. There’s a slight delay, but it doesn’t feel normal. I’m worried because a friend who owns a Rogue had a similar issue, his car wouldn’t start, he took it to the shop, and they told him the engine needed to be replaced. My fear is that this might be the same issue and that it’s related to this recall. I just spoke to Nissan America, and they told me there’s still no solution and that I should call back between August 15 and 18 to check for updates. That seems like a long time for something that could potentially be serious.

• Component: Oil Gasket Pan (can be inspected upon request) • On 10 June 2025, I took my vehicle to Firestone for routine maintenance. Upon an attempt to reinsert the oil plug, the technician could not do so; therefore, the oil gasket pan had to be replaced. The oil plug was not damaged. However, the grooves within the gasket pan itself was warped and the technician could not reinsert the plug in order for the oil to remain within the engine. Unfortunately, I had to pay $600+ just to replace the gasket oil pan for a defective part on Nissan’s end. The item is horribly made from plastic material; that is not ideal, considering that oil becomes hot during use. The main concern here would be can the vehicle withhold engine oil between oil changes and it would not leak? Huge safety concern here, in addition to the recent recall on the engine bearings. • I’ve also seen complaints regarding this from other Nissan Rogue owners for various years (dating from 2021-2024).

Since receiving the car back, it now makes creaking noises, vibrates severely under acceleration and deceleration, and is completely unsafe to drive. The shaking is so bad I can feel it under my feet and seat, especially at highway speeds (40–50 mph). The car did not have these symptoms before the transmission repair. They claimed they did a test drive, but that is obviously false. This is now the third time I’ve had to return this vehicle for drivetrain-related issues, and I’ve been told to “wait until July 15th” with no resolution while my car is dangerous and undrivable. I’m reporting this as a potential safety risk, negligent repair, and breach of warranty, and I want Nissan investigated for returning vehicles in this condition. I’m afraid to drive it and feel completely ignored. This dealership needs to be held accountable, and Nissan should be required to take responsibility before someone gets hurt

It hasn’t affected my safety yet, but there is a possibility every time I drive my vehicle while those lights are on. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer and they’ve attempted a few things to repair it but it hasn’t been completely fixed. I have been told by the dealer that this is something that was fixed with the 2024 model per a recall but the 2023 models they haven’t been able to figure out yet. It’s been happening since I first got the vehicle. We bought it used.

But on my way back home ..... it happened again. This time I couldn't make it to Nissan but I made it to auto zone and a local shop in Orangeburg. They received 13 different codes. Again.... there's was nothing they could do so they man reset the codes in my car. Clear the code n I made it home safely with my family.

Subject: 2023 Nissan Rogue SV – Thermostat and Oil Temperature Sensor Failure I am reporting a mechanical failure involving our 2023 Nissan Rogue SV that may represent a broader safety concern. We purchased the vehicle used, in excellent condition, with the goal of traveling safely with our two young sons. Just 31 days after purchase, and only 1,800 miles into ownership, the thermostat assembly and oil temperature sensor assembly failed without warning. The incident occurred over 900 miles from our home and 450 miles from our intended destination, leaving our family stranded far from support. We brought the vehicle to Windy Nissan for service, where we were told it was the third 2023 Rogue SV with under 70,000 miles to come in that week for the exact same failure. This strongly suggests a recurring issue that may affect a wider number of vehicles. Given the vehicle’s age and mileage, this failure was unexpected and raises concerns about reliability and safety, particularly for families traveling long distances. Sudden failure of key engine components like these can result in engine overheating or shutdown, posing risks during highway driving or remote travel.

> I purchased a 2023 Nissan Rogue brand new and it now has only 32,000 miles. It has a major water leak—flooding the interior through the lights, vents, and floor—yet Nissan won’t cover it under warranty and State Farm denied my comprehensive claim. The vehicle has sat exposed for 3 weeks at the body shop during constant rain, worsening the damage. The car is now unsafe to drive. Nissan failed to disclosure valid and pertinent information regarding the limitations on their warranty coverage. Furthermore, Nissan failed to disclose maintenance guidelines for maintaining a sunroof. Additionally, regardless of any debris build-up, the size of the water lines are inadequate to hold large volumes of water at a given time. The amount of rain that has occurred in Alabama over the past 3 months super exceeds the capacity of these drainage tubes, leading to interior flooding that is detrimental to the integrity of the safety features in this vehicle. My lights, electrical panel, air bags, and electrical ports have all been impacted by this intrusion and now I'm left with a useless, unsafe, and unpredictable vehicle that has a total of 32,000 miles. This is fraud and deceptive behavior that should be made public. I believe others need to know this could happen. I’d appreciate your help.

The 2023 rogue has a known problem of smelling like fuel after driving. I have had multiple service calls. They have replaced a hose and other things. But they have failed. There is now a recall for most of these cars but my VIN number is not on the recall list even though I have experienced this problem for years at this point. The service department cannot change the necessary hose because it is not on the recall list.

Transmission light went on again we were told it was the transmission it was the gear shift assembly (claiming something spilled in it - not true). Not covered and would cost $1350... charged $260 for diagnostic. Had repaired separately, Transmission light is still on. Claiming not covered under warranty even though car has about 80,000 highway miles. I think this car may have an undying electrical issue and our safety is at risk.

I was sold a 2023 Nissan Rogue last July From *** Nissan of Topsham ME. that had a faulty main seal/head gasket which allowed exhaust, coolant and freon vapors to be blown into the car effectively creating a gas chamber. 31 days after my purchase at service appointment to fix defroster I was told "all the coolant leaked out of the resevoir and we don't know where it went, you should keep an eye on it". I was never told further diagnostics were needed at that time however once I realized what was going on and decided to file a complaint with the Maine attorney general's office, I looked over paperwork from visit that day and mechanics notes stated "coolant may be leaking into engine further diagnostics are needed". Let me explain that I am a courier and drive my car all day every day staring and stopping it as I make deliveries. I drove the car around poisoning myself with fumes for 7 months. I began to feel ill in November when I started using the heater more. I was completely exhausted (literally) and didn't know why. I also was having cognitive difficulties and sleeping 10-11 hours a day. In Jan 2025 I developed white spots on my tonsils and the back of my throat felt as if it was scorched. I began having uncontrollable muscle twitching and my hair and eyelashes were falling out, I still did not realize what was wrong. At the beginning of Feb. I smelled strong fumes, I immediately brought the car to ******Nissan in Las Vegas NV. where I was at the time, I left the dealership that day having been told once again "we don't know what's wrong". I have come to learn that both dealerships knew what was wrong and were just ignoring the problem. The car had the engine replaced not once but twice, the first engine had no compression, the 2nd also had the same terrible smell. I have been poisoned and lied to. I now have multiple health issues. Car surrendered [XXX] ********** C.U. Westbrook ME. All paperwork to support claim available. PLEASE HELP! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATIO

I am reporting a recurring issue related to the oil drain plug design on the 2023 Nissan Rogue. During a routine oil change service, the technician at Midas broke the oil pan drain plug, resulting in the need to replace the entire oil pan. This was not due to technician negligence, but rather a reflection of a poorly designed or overly fragile drain plug and oil pan combination that is prone to damage during standard maintenance. This is the second time this has occurred, and it has become clear that the design lacks durability and fails to withstand the basic functions required during oil changes. Although Midas covered the replacement this time, this is not a sustainable solution, as owners should not be expected to risk hundreds of dollars in damage during a basic service procedure. There are numerous reports online of similar issues affecting other 2023 Nissan Rogue owners. This appears to be a design flaw that could lead to repeat incidents and unnecessary financial burden for vehicle owners. I am seeking acknowledgment of this issue by Nissan and a permanent resolution, whether through a redesigned part, recall, or official service bulletin.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to report a critical and life-threatening safety incident involving my Nissan Rogue. While driving at a sustained speed of 65 mph on a highway, the steering wheel suddenly locked aligned on right side without warning. This mechanical failure rendered me completely unable to steer, putting my life and the lives of others (including my friend’s little daughter) on the busiest highway in immediate danger. Somehow I was able to hit the hard brake and get on the right curb after two lane without any control on the wheel to slow down my car. This is an abnormal and catastrophic malfunction. The sudden loss of steering control at high speed could have easily resulted in a fatal accident. Fortunately, I was able to avoid a crash, but the incident left me heavily shaken and raises serious concerns about the safety integrity of this vehicle. I also got hurt in my right hand although no airbag was deployed. This incident appears to be the result of a manufacturer defect or electronic failure, not driver error or wear and tear. I am requesting that Nissan immediately investigate this issue, and I demand: 1.Full diagnostic evaluation at no cost to me 2.Repair or replacement of defective systems under warranty or recall terms 3.Compensation for the emotional distress, potential loss of life, and loss of vehicle use caused by this incident Should this be confirmed as a broader issue, I urge Nissan to initiate a recall to prevent others from suffering potential injuries or fatalities. A failure of this magnitude must be treated with the highest urgency. Please contact me promptly to confirm that you have received this complaint and to begin the investigation process. I am prepared to escalate this matter through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and pursue legal remedies if necessary. Oil Pan/Oil Pan Gasket damaged. Plastic oil pan with a metal bolt is due to fail anytime when replacing oil/doing an oil change. Nissan has, for about 99%, done all of my oil changes. Was told at Nissan the part was stripped, and could he a potential hazard of bolt shooting out of Pan due to pressure/heat expansion and lead to engine failure or be hazardous if vehicle was being driven. Was not even aware of this stripped bolt/broken pan until I went for a routine oil change with Nissan. This is my family vehicle and I drive my kid everywhere in this vehicle. This is a major safety concern and flaw and should be reason to reconsider and be gone with the plastic pans and have metal ones be manufactured/produced. Had to pay put of pocket for it to be replaced. Should have been covered by Nissan or be recalled immediately. This could put my family at risk if it fails and we are out driving. We do constant road trips and long distance destinations. This is concerning.

I bought the car November, 2023. Today I have 5300 miles. Two months after purchase the car while I was driving, it shifted from "D" drive to "1". I went slowly from no speed to around 30 MPH when I heard a roaring noise and saw that the car down shifted. I stopped immediately (no cars behind me). Went to dealership which had no idea of what happened. No one else reported anything like my experience at the dealership Service Department. Happened twice over a couple of months which I did not go back to dealership. I believe it was on April 26, 2025, it happened twice the same day. I slowly went from being stopped and within 100 feet it went to "1". Back to dealership so they made a record. May 17, 2025, I was stopped on a slight incline. I was in "R", With foot on brake I switched to "D". Without moving it went into "1". I happened to be looking at dash. This new. Today dealership could find nothing. In April, 2025, I checked on the computer. Several articles regarding my problem. Nissan is aware of this problem. Someone described my problem exactly and gave a price range to repair and even named the part. Do people have to die before Nissan does a recall?

I received a Forward Collision Warning at approx. 35,700 miles. The distance sensor failed and the vehicle would not stop from hitting the car in front of me. I was able to swerve to avoid collision. Took to dealer at approx. 38,000 miles and they determined an internal failure in the distance sensor. Distance sensor and bracket was replaced. Labor and parts were $1,122

The issue began [xxx]. I drove to Napa, stayed for about 20 minutes. When I started the vehicle again and started driving on the highway it was revving but not going above about 10 mph. Had to pull off the road. I waited a few minutes turned it off and back on and it drove normally and I got back home. It's been doing the same thing intermittently since then but more often and throughout the day or drive. When I come to a stop at a stop sign or light and start driving again it will get stuck in 1st gear and not switch out until I turn the vehicle off and on again. This has happened in traffic several times. The dealership has not been able to diagnose it or fix it since they have not been able to reproduce it. They have kept it overnight three times I believe and once had a tech take it home for this and other issues including issues with the proximity sensors that they also haven't been able to correct. No warning lights appear. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2023 Nissan Rogue constantly smells of gas fumes on the interior. I have had my vehicle in numerous times over the last few months because the fumes are making me lightheaded to the point that I need to pull over and I constantly have headaches. I have a complaint filed with Nissan and their "fix" is to compensate me for my inconvenience with no genuine concern over the fact that this is causing health issues. They released a new supposed fix which is a replacement of another hose. I'm concerned about my health but also the safety of myself and others while I'm driving due to feeling so lightheaded.

The sunroof exploded while on the expressway going 75mph. At first after hearing the loud explosion, I thought it was a blowout tire. Almost got hit by two cars as I was pulling over .I took the car to the Nissan dealership and I was told I would have to leave the car there while they contact Nissan and send them pictures.

My 2023 Nissan Rogue had recorded tread wear from 3 mm to 4 mm of tread left from my maintenance printouts I received from my dealer that started at around 16,000 miles (November 2024) despite having my vehicle serviced at a Nissan Service facility as per the recommended maintenance schedule from Nissan Motors. This was a potentially very dangerous situation with possible snow conditions that are associated with New England Winters. My tires were also rotated on a regular basis as well as per the recommended maintenance schedule for my 2023 Nissan Rogue. The tires that came with my car orignally were the Dunlop GrandTrek. I waited as long as I could to purchase a new set of tires because they were costly and I didn't have the money. My total bill came out to around $1,300 which included a recommended four wheel drive wheel alignment.

The forward collision warning sensor went out while driving. Took it to Granite Nissan in Rapid City, SD. They replaced it after a year of waiting on the part. The day after it was repaired, it went out again. They said they have no idea on how to fix the problem. This issue is very dangerous when it is icy outside. When the sensor goes out the car is very unstable. You can only drive at 25 MPH and that's pushing it. It seems like the car is trying to apply the brakes to all four wheels at once. The cruise control goes out and it is hard to maintain your speed with the pedal.

The Propilot safety system shuts down after 40 miles. Nissan has sent out a super technician and states there is no cure. This has gone on since I purchased the vehicle over a year ago. Nissan still has no cure. The Propilot system utilizes cameras and radar to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead and keep the vehicle centered in its lane. Hi Chris, We drove the Rogue to Larned Saturday from McPherson on [XXX] . The cruise control shut off 4 times. Forward driving aids disabled. It took 5 to 10 miles each time to reset, then it worked without stopping or turning off the car. There was a lot of traffic and there are several towns we went through. I don’t think the sensors were bored from a plain path. The sensors were not dirty. Does Nissan have a cure for this? Thanks, [XXX] This appears to be a normal operating characteristic of this vehicle. This problem occurs when the radar has no feedback due to what they refer to as barren conditions. I entered the 2023 Nissan Rogue around [XXX] on St. Simons Island GA, on [XXX] with my granddaughter. Upon shutting the doors, the rear hatchback window exploded into pieces and blew out. I had not left the parking place or cranked the car. The glass pieces were all over the road and on the inside of my car. The police were called and a report was filed. How was my safety put at risk? Besides being shocked and traumatized at what sounded like a gunshot, I am now concerned about driving this car again with a new rear window because I fear it could happen again at any time. I am also suffering from a form of PTSD with super loud noise. (I jumped off my yoga mat when someone dropped a metal cup that made a very loud noise during our practice.) I asked the dealership why it happened and I called the Nissan Customer Service Center and have yet to find out why this has happened. My own research has indicated that this problem has occurred in many 2023 Nissan Rogues. The car was inspected by the police and they saw no foul play. The dealership currently has the car and is currently waiting on a new rear hatch window and it will be replaced at no cost after I strongly urged that this car was under warranty and this appears to be a defect (although the dealership doesn't agree). No -- the problem has not been reproduced at the dealership since it does not involve a mechanical part. I contacted the Georgia Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division (CPD) to try to make a Lemon Law Report and the advisor I spoke to indicated that the problem had to occur more than once. Therefore I was unsuccessful in filing that report on April 2, 2025. Since the car had not been turned on, there were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms that the rear window was about to blow out. Again, this happened all on [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Very strong fuel smell comes from the engine compartment after driving. When I am in stop start driving it enters through the vent and the smell is strong in the cabin. There was no incident, just routine occurrences of the following that could lead to one: 1) the wipers do not clear the upper right (passenger) side of the windshield, creating a blind spot, which is especially dangerous when turning. Photo attached, though note this is a mild instance and visibility can be much worse. 2) the rearview camera has been blacking out while the car is in reverse. The black screen lasts about a second and is becoming more common, maybe once a day. 3) the power steering goes out occasionally, which I am strong enough to deal with, but would be difficult for my children (who also drive the car) to deal with.

Also the radio doesn't want to turn off or turn on at times and so again I will turn the car off and on and it seems to reset and then I can work the radio. But I've done this on a few occasions where when I turn the car back on it still didn't work the radio.

My vehicles tie rods broke on my way home from work while I pulled slowly onto a snowy road from my work driveway. I felt my car slide and tap the side of a curb, or so I thought. When I couldn't drive the vehicle I had to have it towed. The Nissan dealership I took it to said the damage, $9000, was caused by bumping into the curb. My insurance company did not agree with their repair amount and my vehicle was again towed to a nearby alternate dealership. After one month and half, my vehicle was repaired and I picked it up, only to find that the vehicle is intermittently vibrating and shaking. I believe this is the prelude for the same issue I had before. The break in the tie rods made me lose control of my vehicle. I have since seen tie rod recalls from Nissan and multiple complaints about the same issue. I am afraid for my safety while driving this vehicle. I contacted Nissan Consumers Complaints and they wanted me to wait for their 90 day investigation in order for them to take responsibility for anything, while I remained in a rental I had to pay for. This puts not only myself at a safety risk, but anyone who is driving with me or near me. I told that to Consumers Complaints. I don't want to see anyone else get hurt because of this issue. My vehicle is currently available for inspection. I am leasing it at $500 a month and am afraid to drive it.

Rear window shattered without previous damage or impact of any object. Vehicle was parked in the middle of a garage, temperature was 32F and driver was present during event. Heard loud noise followed by rear glass shattering and fragments flying all the way to back seat passengers. Nobody was hurt, but glass shards had to be removed from their hair/ clothing. Problem has not been reproduced in dealership, but multiple reports for same vehicle have been filed online. Vehicle has not been inspected by insurance, as they will not cover it. There were no warning signs, or evidence of malfunction. Glass was inspected that same day before driving, had no cracks or breaks. Rear wiper was off when this happened.

Component/System Malfunction: I own a 2023 Nissan Rogue and have experienced excessive engine vibrations since the beginning. Despite multiple service visits, the issue persisted, ultimately leading to a complete engine failure at 64,000 miles. Safety Concerns: The vibrations and power reduction warnings compromised safety. My car eventually broke down in Vail, CO, leaving me stranded in freezing weather for four hours while waiting for assistance. Dealer/Service Center Findings: At my first service visit, the dealership diagnosed a transmission mount issue and claimed to have fixed it, but the problem remained. The check engine light appeared twice, along with an “Engine Power Reduced” warning. The dealership found no immediate issues. At 64,000 miles, my car broke down, and the check engine light reappeared. The dealership initially couldn’t find the problem but later performed a compression test and quoted a $10,000 repair estimate. Manufacturer/Inspection History: I reported the issue multiple times before my warranty expired, but Nissan failed to take corrective action. Now, just 4,000 miles past the warranty, I am being asked to cover the full cost, despite having records proving I reported the issue earlier. Warning Signs Before Failure: •Heavy engine vibrations at startup and idle. •Two check engine light incidents. •“Engine Power Reduced” warning message. •Complete breakdown at 64,000 miles, leaving me stranded in cold weather for four hours. Conclusion: This defect was present from the start, yet Nissan failed to address it. I request an investigation, as this may be a widespread issue affecting other Nissan Rogue owners.

This occurs even in below-freezing weather when the interior of the vehicle is cold. Adaptive speed control, AEB, lane departure, etc., systems are disabled. A vehicle restart clears the error. Nissan is aware of this issue (reference their TSB reference number NTB22-088.) Dash displays message indicating forward driving aids are disabled due to "Lane camera over temperature" on a frequent basis. This occurs even in below-freezing weather when the interior of the vehicle is cold. Adaptive speed control, AEB, lane departure, etc., systems are disabled. A vehicle restart clears the error. Nissan is aware of this issue (reference their TSB reference number NTB22-088.) Even though this repeatedly occurs, the Nissan dealer claims it is normal behavior and will not take corrective action unless a DTC is found.

After an oil change at a Certified Nissan dealership, the left rear seat belt sensor was indicating on the dash board that someone was sitting in there and was strapped, so the light had a green check, but there was no one in that seat plus the seat belt was not even strapped. The next day, the front passenger seat belt also went awry. With no one in the seat, the seat belt sensor started beeping which means it believed someone was in that seat unstrapped, but again, no one was in it. I have only ownes the car for 4 months, the car is clean and there is no debris in the seat belt latch system. There is definitely something wrong with the seatbelt sensors.

The rear window of the vehicle exploded with no impact. After backing out of my driveway I was pulling forward down the street and my rear window exploded. There was a pop and crackle sound. There was no evidence on the vehicle that something struck the window nor was there anything seen in the cameras around my home. When I got out of the vehicle and shut my door the glass fell into the trunk of the car and a piece went into the door handle which shorted it out and it needed to be replaced after the glass was replaced.

I took my car to the Nissan dealer because sometimes when I am stopped with my foot on the brake the engine will start to accelerate trying to overcome the brake. The only thing I can do to stop this is turn off the engine. This has happened 4 times in the last month and not before. The dealer was unable to find anything wrong and could not duplicate this action. I have now been referred to Nissan consumer Affairs, Bureau of Automobile Repair, New Motor Vehicle Board and now your agency, I feel that this vehicle to drive because it could cause damage to me, my car and the the public. The last time this occurred I was stopped coming out of shopping center waiting for the traffic to clear when the car started accelerating which would have pushed me into the oncoming traffic. Hopefully, you'll be able to help me as now of the above mentioned agencies have been able to help. The only date I can give you for certain was 12/23/2024

On December 31st, 2024, we came out from the grocery store to our 2023 Rogue which we had been running errands in all day and the car wouldn’t start. We then tried to give it a jump, replaced the battery, and checked fuses. None of these helped so we had it towed to Firestone. The tech there stated he found coolant in the spark plug wells and told us we needed to have it sent to the local Nissan dealer we bought it brand new from. After the Nissan techs inspected the car, we were told it needs a whole new engine. The car has had proper maintenance and oil changes its entire life and only has 61,000 miles and now it needs a new engine due to premature engine failure.

While driving down the highway going approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle lost power in the middle of the highway and shut off completely, with a sudden warning that said “Engine Malfunction.” The vehicle stopped in the middle of the highway and smoke began filling the cabin, leaving me to believe there was a fire under the hood. I evacuated the kids out of my car and pushed it off to the side of the road, then called the fire department. When the vehicle was towed to a Nissan dealership they discovered that there were many large metal chunks in the oil pan and the engine needed to be completely replaced. The vehicle only has 50,000 miles on it and is technically covered under powertrain, however Nissan is trying to get out of covering the replacement of the engine. There have been many documented cases of this exact thing happening to this make model and year Rogue. Nissan needs to take responsibility before someone dies. This incident was incredibly dangerous and could have ended catastrophically had I not pushed the car off the roadway.
