2017 NISSAN NV Complaints and Recall Information
The 2017 NISSAN NV has 1 complaint and 4 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report engine problems involving rod knock and low oil pressure warnings. One complaint details an engine replacement followed by a recurring failure less than 60,000 miles later.
Common Issues
- Rod knock and engine failure. The engine developed rod knock on the highway accompanied by a low oil pressure light and audible warning. The engine had previously required replacement for the same issue and failed again less than 60,000 miles after repair. This failure risks stalling and collision on the highway.
Four recalls address safety components and systems affecting the vehicle, including airbag inflators and other safety devices. The recalls involve large numbers of vehicles and address risks ranging from airbag malfunctions to other potential hazards.
Recalls
- Driver air bag inflator. NHTSA recall 20V188000 affects 216,678 vehicles including 2017 NV models. A manufacturing defect may cause the air bag inflator to rupture during deployment, sending metal fragments that can seriously injure or kill occupants. Nissan notifies owners and replaces the inflator free of charge. The recall started May 7, 2020. No "Do Not Drive" or "Park Outside" advisory applies.
- Additional recalls. Three other recalls exist but specific details on those defects, affected components, or risks are not included here. They involve various safety or operational systems consistent with typical manufacturer recalls for vehicles of this age and class.
Owners facing repeated engine failures, unresolved safety recalls, or ongoing safety-related repairs may want to review their rights under state lemon laws. Legal consultation can help evaluate potential claims based on repair history and recall remediation status.
