STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR

Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2023-2024 London Aire, Essex, and 2016-2024 King Aire motorhomes. The baggage door skins may come loose and separate from the door frame.

Risk: A detached door skin can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

STEERING:CRITICAL FASTENERS

Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2021-2022 New Aire, Essex, King Aire, Ventana, Kountry Star, London Aire, Dutch Star and Mountain Aire motorhomes. The upper bolt connecting the steering column may not have been properly tightened, causing the nut to loosen off the bolt, potentially resulting in loss of steering control.

Risk: Loss of steering control increases the risk of a crash.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL

Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2019-2021 London Aire, Dutch Star, Essex, King Aire, Mountain Aire, 2020-2021 Ventana, and 2021 New Aire recreational vehicles. The instrument cluster may intermittently go blank while the vehicle is in motion.

Risk: A blank instrument cluster display may be missing critical information such as the vehicle's speed and warning lights, which can increase the risk of a crash.

STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST:PUMP

Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Essex, 2020-2022 King Aire and London Aire motorhomes. A machining defect may cause pressure to build in the power steering pump and break the shaft seal, resulting in a loss of power steering assist.

Risk: A loss of power steering assist increases the risk of a crash.

STRUCTURE

Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Bay Star, Ventana, New Aire, 2019-2020 Canyon Star, Bay Star Sport, Essex, King Aire, London Aire, Mountain Aire, 2018-2021 Dutch Star, 2020 Kountry Star, and 2019 Ventana LE recreational vehicles. The adhesive that bonds the vented portion of the window may fail.

Risk: Adhesive failure may cause the vent portion of the window to detach, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

SUSPENSION:FRONT

Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Dutch Star, King Aire, Essex, London Aire, and Mountain Aire motorhomes. The steering gear mounting bolts may become loose and back out, resulting in difficulty steering.

Risk: Difficulty steering, or the inability to steer in both directions, can increase the risk of a crash.

EQUIPMENT:RECREATIONAL VEHICLE/TRAILER

Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Mountain Aire, Essex, and King Aire motorhomes. The bedroom fascia header may fall unexpectedly onto the bed.

Risk: If the fascia header falls while there is an occupant in the bed, it can increase the risk of an injury.

SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:DISC

Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2019 Essex, King Aire, London Aire, Mountain Aire, and 2020 Dutch Star motorhomes. The brake relay valve may have an air flow restriction due to a partially blocked orifice, which may lead to extended stopping distance. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems."

Risk: An increase in stopping distance without warning increases the risk of crash.

EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL

Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Bay Star, Essex, New Aire, 2018 Bay Start Sport, Canyon Star, Dutch Star, King Aire, Mountain Aire, Ventana LE, Ventana, and London Aire motorhomes. The power supply for the WiFiRanger may overheat.

Risk: An overheated power supply can increase the risk of a fire.

STRUCTURE:BODY

The cargo door panel is set to fly off. The manufacturer, Newmar, is using 2 pieces of tape on the cargo bay door skin and it can fly off very easily. It's very dangerous and we are lucky we caught it before it flew off. There is another King Aire owner who warned us about it happening. His case number is 11661685.

I own a 2019 Newmar King Aire and have lost two bay door skins in the past couple weeks during a trip from the West Coast to the East Coast. The first one was never recovered and I am horrified what might have happened if it would have hit someone. After we lost the first one, I inspected the rest of them, (14 in total) and they all felt secure. I then checked them again a couple hours prior to losing the second one. The Second one, I recovered after it flew up and damaged the side of my coach. These skins are only held on with 1/2" two-sided tape and I believe they will all fail eventually. And it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt or killed. I have additional photos if I can help in any way. I have asked Newmar what I can do to repair this situation, and they told me I was out of warranty, but they would review this issue and get back to me. Wet bay door skin adhesive is failing on many units causing the door skin to become detached and blow off of the vehicle while driving. This happened to ours and we’ve seen many other units with the same issue. The dealers know this is an issue but Newmar will not address.
