Recalls- Ignition switch defect. NHTSA recall 13V221000 affects 188 vehicles due to a weak return spring in the push-to-start button switch. The engine may start unexpectedly, posing injury risks to those near the engine. Dealers will inspect and replace the switches at no cost. The recall began June 19, 2013.
- Brake system malfunction. Recall 14V532000 impacts 731 buses where a misaligned brake pedal mounting plate can cause brake piston binding. This may increase brake resistance or cause brake drag, raising crash risk. The fix involves replacing both the mounting plate and brake valve actuator free of charge. The recall started September 15, 2014.
- Steering column looseness. Recall 22V943000 covers 746 vehicles equipped with double tilt steering columns. The steering column connection may become loose, potentially causing loss of steering and increasing crash risk. Dealers will replace steering components free of charge. Owner notifications were sent in February 2023.
- Seat belt anchorage defect. Recall 16V038000 involves 4,848 buses with Recaro Ergo-M Commercial Bus Driver Seats featuring J-Brackets that may lack welds. This can allow the seat belt anchorage to detach, risking driver injury during crashes. Owners are instructed to inspect seats. Replacement brackets and labor are provided free of charge. The recall began February 4, 2016.
Owners with unresolved safety-related recalls or repeated defects may have protections under their state lemon law. Those affected should consider consulting with a qualified attorney to understand their rights and options.
