There are eight recalls affecting multiple systems such as the power train, engine, fuel system, brakes, emission control, and safety equipment. These recalls primarily address manufacturing defects and component failures that pose safety risks requiring repairs or part replacements.

  • Transmission oil cooler hose clamps. (NHTSA 13V421000) The hose clamps securing the transmission oil cooler hoses may have insufficient clamping force, causing transmission fluid leaks. Approximately 600 vehicles are affected. Leaking fluid can prevent shifting and render the transmission inoperative, increasing crash risk. Dealers will replace the hose clamps free of charge.
  • Engine timing chain bolt. (NHTSA 15V195000) The lower engine timing chain bolt may not be properly tightened, causing oil leaks that can result in engine seizure. This defect affects 25 vehicles. Dealers will tighten the bolt to the correct torque at no cost.
  • Fuel return hose deterioration. (NHTSA 15V850000) The fuel return hose may swell and detach due to chemical exposure, creating a fuel leak risk and potential fire hazard. This recall covers 9,456 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and replace the hose if necessary free of charge.
  • Automatic transmission fluid oil cooler hose. (NHTSA 14V605000) The ATF oil cooler hose may burst, causing a fluid leak that could disable the transmission. About 9,138 vehicles are affected. Dealers will replace defective hoses at no cost.
  • Transmission contamination. (NHTSA 14V046000) Debris contamination of transmission fluid due to insufficient cleaning at manufacture may lead to transmission failure and engine stalling. This impacts 7,819 vehicles. Dealers will flush and refill the transmission or replace it as needed free of charge.
  • Brake pad shim corrosion. (NHTSA 15V504000) Brake pad shims may rust or corrode after exposure to road chemicals, causing increased brake pedal travel and longer stopping distances. About 7,104 vehicles are included. Steel shims will be replaced with stainless steel shims free of charge.
  • Crankcase ventilation heater wiring. (NHTSA 16V116000) Optional PVC pipe heater wiring may chafe on a metal clamp and short circuit, increasing fire risk. This recall affects 853 vehicles. Dealers will replace the PVC pipe heater kit at no cost.
  • Fire extinguisher malfunction. (NHTSA 18V047000) Certain Kidde plastic-handle fire extinguishers may clog, require excessive force to activate, or have nozzles that can detach, causing injury and failing to operate in a fire. The recall covers 1,153 vehicles. Owners will be instructed to contact Kidde for a free replacement extinguisher.

Owners dealing with repeated repairs, safety defects, or unresolved recall issues with the 2014 MITSUBISHI FUSO FEC92 may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting legal resources or a consumer protection attorney could help clarify these rights.

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America, Inc. (MFTA) is recalling certain 2004-2017 FE84D, FE85D, FEC52, FEC72, FEC92, FGB72, FK61F and FM657 trucks. These trucks are equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers that may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

Risk: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:CRANKCASE (PCV)

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America, Inc. (MFTA) is recalling certain model year 2012-2016 FEC52, FEC72, FEC92 trucks manufactured February 4, 2011, to March 31, 2015, and 2012-2015 FGB72 trucks manufactured June 22, 2011, to April 8, 2014. The affected vehicles are equipped with an optional cold weather PVC heater kit. In these vehicles, the PVC pipe heater wiring may chafe on a metal clamp possibly resulting in the wire short circuiting.

Risk: A short circuit increases the risk of a fire.
