Owners were instructed not to charge these vehicles and to avoid manual and sport modes until repairs were completed. BMW will inspect and replace battery modules free of charge.
- Hybrid battery welding defect (Recall 20V490000). 713 vehicles face risk from loose welding beads in hybrid batteries that can short-circuit and spark a fire. Dealers will inspect and replace battery modules as necessary at no cost to owners. Interim owner notifications were sent and all affected vehicles have been remedied.
