Recalls- Fuel pump control module. NHTSA recall 22V955000 affects 348,183 vehicles including 2016-2019 GLE400 models. Water accumulation in the spare tire well can damage the fuel pump control unit, causing the engine to stall while driving. An engine stall increases the risk of a crash. Dealers will install a drain plug, inspect for water intrusion, and replace the control unit as needed free of charge. No "Do Not Drive" or "Park Outside" advisory applies.
- Headlights adjustment. NHTSA recall 16V759000 affects 2,215 vehicles including 2016 GLE400 4MATIC. The low beam headlights may be improperly adjusted, reducing driver visibility and increasing crash risk. Dealers will inspect and correct headlight adjustment at no cost.
- Electric power steering connector. NHTSA recall 17V241000 affects 58,323 vehicles including 2016 GLE400 4MATIC. Insufficient sealing on the connector allows water intrusion that can deactivate power steering assist, elevating crash risk. Dealers will replace the connector and inspect the steering rack, replacing it if necessary. Remedy parts were not initially available but repairs are free.
- Emergency call system software. NHTSA recall 19V787000 affects 24,226 vehicles including 2016 GLE400. Software faults may cause incorrect date, time, and vehicle location transmission, delaying emergency response. An over-the-air update or dealer update will fix the issue at no charge.
- Front suspension oil leakage. NHTSA recall 18V272000 affects 9,725 vehicles including 2016 GLE400 4MATIC with Active Curve System. Low oil levels can cause foaming and leakage from the reservoir cap, raising fire risk if an ignition source is present. Dealers will adjust oil level and replace the reservoir cap free of charge.
- Passenger frontal air bag inflator and windshield bonding. NHTSA recall 17V655000 affects 3,620 vehicles including 2016 GLE400 4MATIC. Excess bulkhead insulation may interfere with windshield bonding, potentially compromising passenger air bag deployment and increasing injury risk. Dealers will remove excess insulation and rework windshield bonding at no cost.
- Occupant Classification System (OCS) software. NHTSA recall 16V903000 affects 47,799 vehicles including 2016 GLE400 4MATIC. Incorrect OCS calibration can misclassify a passenger as a child seat, deactivating the front passenger air bag and increasing injury risk. Dealers will update OCS software free of charge.
