The 2019 MERCEDES-BENZ AMG GLS63 has 1 complaint and 184 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to the Active Curve System, which includes oil leaks that increase the risk of fire. The complaint was confirmed by a dealer diagnostic and is linked to a suspension component defect.

Common Issues
  • Active Curve System malfunction. Oil leaks within the suspension system create a fire hazard due to the presence of an ignition source. The problem triggered a warning message and was diagnosed by an authorized dealer.

There are 184 recalls affecting various systems on the vehicle. These recalls mainly concern software and communication system defects that impact emergency notification and vehicle safety functions.

Recalls
  • Communication system defects. (NHTSA campno 22V365000) Affecting 242,722 vehicles including the 2019 AMG GLS63. The SIM card software in the communication module can fail, disabling the emergency call (eCall) system. No "Do Not Drive" or "Park Outside" advisories apply.
  • Emergency call location error. (NHTSA campno 21V058000) Affecting 1,292,258 vehicles including this model. The communication module software may send incorrect vehicle location information during a crash, causing emergency responders to be dispatched to the wrong place and increasing injury risk. Mercedes-Benz will update the software free via dealer or OTA. No driving restrictions apply.
  • Suspension system oil leak. (NHTSA campno 18V272000) Confirmed recall linked to the complaint. Oil leaks in the Active Curve suspension system create fire risks if exposed to an ignition source. This defect has been identified and under recall by Mercedes-Benz USA.

Owners facing repeated repairs for fire risk defects, or those affected by unresolved safety recalls impacting emergency systems, may have rights under state lemon laws. Consulting a legal professional on lemon law options could be advisable.
